None of the above, Taxes, bad Soros, evil Soros.

So why am I NOT a Republican?   Because the Republican Party for the last ten years behaved in why that could not be differentiated from the Democrats. And the Democrats behaved like Bolsheviks.

Not All Taxes Are “Bad” Taxes

I think that after more than 75% of the money you have paid from your paycheck has been misspent, stolen, or lost. You should get a pass on giving the government any more money for the rest of your life. Yeah sure, lets try to reform taxes again. (I’ve lost count, how many times have we done this before?)

Movie opens in February, A MUST SEE.

George Soros, Godfather of the Left Gives $550 Million to Liberal Causes

The war for American Freedom has already started, and  we are losing.

Stone takes over what The New York Times calls “a sprawling constellation of more than 30 organizations that operate in places as diverse as Baltimore, Jakarta, the Kremlin and Congress.” The Times left out that the Soros network is laughably left-wing: pro-abortion, pro-euthanasia, pro-gay marriage, pro-drug legalization, pro-union and pro-government-funded media as well as anti-faith, anti-death penalty and as anti-conservative as they come.

It’s an important time for the foundations as Soros himself just turned 81 and has decided that he wants the charity to continue after his death. The foundations have focused on influencing America since late in the first term of President George W. Bush, who Soros strongly opposed. “I have to concentrate on what goes on in America. The fight for an open society now has to be fought there,” reported The Moscow Times in 2003.

His money pays for most of the “journalists” at NPR. He is heavily invested in controlling what you see. That includes ABC, NBC, and CBS.

Soros and liberal groups seeking top election posts in battleground states

A small tax-exempt political group with ties to wealthy liberals like billionaire financier George Soros has quietly helped elect 11 reform-minded progressive Democrats as secretaries of state to oversee the election process in battleground states and keep Republican “political operatives from deciding who can vote and how those votes are counted.”

Known as the Secretary of State Project (SOSP), the organization was formed by liberal activists in 2006 to put Democrats in charge of state election offices, where key decisions often are made in close races on which ballots are counted and which are not.

He also wants to control your vote. He’s afraid you might vote the wrong way. And he’s been successful, as Al Franken and Harry Reid can attest.      In Nevada, Sharon Angle was slightly ahead of Harry Reid in the polls just before the election, but was defeated by an impossibly large margin, most likely, from the votes of illegal aliens. Al Franken kept “finding” uncounted ballots that, miraculously, were all for him, and accepted by the Secretary of State.

Soros is not a anomaly, hes the true face of progressivism. If you want to know what Barry Soetoro wants for America, study George Soros. If Soros has any virtues, at least he’s honest about want he wants, and though at 81,  he is unlikely to live long enough to see it all happen he is certain that his ideological children will. It’s the only reason Barry Soetoro exists.

Movie recommendation: Devils Double.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED: LFM Sundance Review of The Devil’s Double & Dominic Cooper as Uday Hussein

Here is a chance to plug a movie and a web site, both of which I admire. The movie which came out almost a year ago, just became available from Amazon on disk. The web site where I found out about this movie is http://www.libertasfilmmagazine.com/ and has been my go-to site for hearing about good independent films that never play at the local cineplex because they are not the CGI crap that usually runs there.

To actually watch any of these independent films I would have to travel to Cambridge, to the Kendall Square Theater. About 25 miles and straight through Boston MA. Now that I am not forced to go into Boston every day I find my normal aversion  to strong to overcome. There is the MBTA, treble the time and more crime ridden every year. But for some films I might venture out again. Weaponless, for the cities of Boston and Cambridge and especially the train system like to provide guaranteed weaponless and defenseless fodder for their favorite criminal class to pray on. But I digress.

I eventually purchased this movie from Amazon, at $15.99. If you want it for under $10 you can get it used, its almost at the point where the $3 for shipping won’t push the price over ten.  The film is based on events prior to the overthrow of Saddam and experiences of a real person, but the story has been changed from that persons book on his experiences, “dramatic license”. Nothing false or fantasy has been added, it is still a true picture of life in Iraq under Saddam. There is one graphic, truly horrific killing that was a little too much for me. But the scene was necessary to show what a monster Uday Hussein was.

I wouldn’t have been aware of this movie but for the Libertas web site, try it out. Another great movie they pointed me to was the German language film, “The Lives of Others”. Check it out. You can get it now for under $5.

What did he say??? Myth of the 99%, Administration agrees to curb anti-Islamic speech in US.

Hey, stop this dangerous candidate! He’s told the truth!

US presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich (whose Lazarus-like trajectory to the Republican nomination I flagged up here a month ago) has recently demonstrated yet again Melanie’s First Rule of Modern Political Discourse – the more obvious the truth that you utter, the more explosive and abusive the reaction.

Interesting, what’s really of interest is the reaction from Republicans who are going all medieval on Newt’s butt. I guess the contrast is extreme, after over ten years of murmuring softly; The Arabs are a great people, Islam is a peaceful religion, the Palestinians are just expressing their legitimate grievances against Israel.  There are times I thought the damn  Arabs and their religion had fifty Electoral College votes.

Wake up and smell the coffee, read the memo, listen to the radio! It’s not about them anymore, (No thanks to Congress) but we are approaching energy independence (cough,Shale Oil, cough), we’ve spent ten years kicking their ass everywhere in the world they have stuck their heads up and we have deployed a fleet of worldwide terminator robots to keep their heads down (blessings on the Dark Lord Cheney).  NOW IT’S ABOUT JOBS, JOBS, JOBS!!!  And a president who is the enemy of the U.S. Constitution.

DON’T GET SIDETRACKED! DRIVE OBAMA AND THE DEMOCRATS OUT OF OFFICE AND INTO HELL. (Hell in this case being defined as media consultant jobs on one hand and forty years of bad golf on the other).

Scientists kick off debate over barefoot running

First a opening statement from the barefoot advocate, “Ouch, ouch, ooh, eeck, ouch!!”.

Occupy Wall Street And The Myth Of The 99%

M. Todd Henderson is a professor at the University of Chicago Law School.

…Occupy has absorbed or been co-opted by various one percents. For example, in education policy, teachers are the one percent, while students and parents are the 99 percent. But it is generally the power of the concentrated teachers’ unions that drives decisions about education spending and policy. The fact that teachers unions support Occupy undermines its power. A true movement of the 99 percents would be on the side of students, not teachers.”

Excellent point. In practice, the Occupy movement has been the tool of the 1% of hard-left activists against the interests of the 99% of the people.

What Really Happened Aboard Air France 447

I’m going to look for a older article about the differences between Airbus and Boeing, it’s an article that addresses the differences between complete computer control (Airbus) and more traditional pilot control systems. The article convinced me I never want to get on-board a Airbus.

In the case of the Air France crash, splash might be more accurate, the fact that two pilots were actively flying the plane at the same time with the computer systems “averaging” their control inputs is shocking.

Groundhog Day…………..

In the coming year, 2012, both Groundhog Day and The State of the Union Address will occur on the same day.

This is an ironic juxtaposition of events.

One involves a meaningless ritual in which we look to an insignificant creature of little intelligence for prognostication.

The other involves a groundhog.

The Surber Rule

The Surber Rule: The economy will win the presidency for Republicans in 2012. Republicans should talk about nothing else, and should avoid troll questions by any reporter who tries to distract them.

I think I should put that on my sideboard until after the election.

The Only Thing President Obama Has Ever Been Trained For

Getting elected.                     Thats it, you expected something else?

This week, while the secretary of defense was in Hawaii, we learned that the White House vetoed plans by military commanders to recover or destroy an errant remotely piloted aircraft before the Iranians could get their hands on the high-tech device. Meanwhile, the U.S. defense budget is being savaged in Congress.

This President’s first loyalty is not to the United States. He wants to destroy this country and this can be proved by many examples over the last three years.

December Kayaking, jolly good fun.

Does a little ice on the riverbank in December discourage us? Hell No!

Why? I’m nuts of course. No, no , no…I’m a New Englander and a Dane. Never got out of the thirty’s today, but the sun was strong.

Every month on the river has its own character. And every month has its own beauty.

Sort of like a woman, in each decade of her life she achieves a different type of beauty, and you love her for the what she becomes.

Soon my lady will be covered in robes of pure, white snow. She’ll be lovely.

After almost a week of strong winds, today was a calm and bright day for paddling up and down the river. You dress a little differently than August.

Still a lot of migrating ducks, who still take off at first sight. Got to get a camera with a longer lens. The last digital camera with a 5X zoom went in the drink last month, it wasn’t a waterproof product. Bye-bye.  Just the cost of doing business. So this is the best I can do.

Back to the starting point, the Brick Klin Lane public landing.

Now, could you ask for a closer landing to your vehicle than this?

Theatre of the Absurd

Occupy Boston finally kicked out of Dewey Square.

$1 million OT tab needed to quash Occupy Boston

Even today, you can do a lot for a million dollars. Now if they bid that job out to the private sector I’m sure that the tab, excluding the cleaning bill, would have been closer to ten thousand, and we could have hired all Vets.

  These are not adults…

From the BostonHearald City Desk Blog: BPD UPDATE: At this time, Boston Police can report the arrest of 32 males and 14 females. The charges include trespassing and disorderly conduct.

* * *
Dan O’Brien reports that police arrested a group of people in front of South Station who had blocked the street along Atlantic Avenue. They were tossed in a transport van where those arrested could be heard kicking the walls of the van. [Pass out the pacifiers]
Simultaneously, a bulldozer is clearing out Dewey Square … all this as the sun comes up on a new day in downtown.

Greenway mass effect! Now comes the cleanup

The Utopian dreamers of Occupy Boston are leaving behind a disgusting field of filth on the formerly scenic Rose Kennedy Greenway, where trees will have to be replanted, grass resodded, sprinklers repaired or replaced and the entire area power-hosed in a massive cleanup that could take weeks.

These jokers are having a victory party right now, like gleeful infants who twisted the cats tail. The question is what will happen the next time? What will the city have learned from all this? If they land on the OccupyKiddies like a ton of bricks at the first sign of a tent stake, or slap on the cuffs for the first letter of graffiti that shows up then they learned the right lesson. If they stand around watching and placing police to protect the trespassers not to arrest them, then they learned nothing.

Or we had better learn that in this fight, the City administration and the union police are not on our side. After all, don’t think of that million dollars as wasted, think of it as a holiday bonus to the unions.
