Is this any way to choose a President?

Newsletters, Statements Cause Campaign Trail Problems for Ron Paul

The newsletters from the 1980s and 1990s, under names like Ron Paul’s Freedom Report and the Ron Paul Investment Letter, contained several instances of racially charged language and other offensive statements

OK, here’s my view. Ron Paul says he didn’t write the offensive articles and wasn’t aware that they were being published in his newsletters.  I’m going to accept that.

That’s it? You are going to forget about this as a issue to whack Ron Paul with and move on, thats what you are saying, John?

Yup. Done. Moving on. The reason why is this, I’m tried of these carefully timed Gothcha’s hitting candidates that never come fully researched or documented. Always with the whiff of sex or racism. Where are the dedicated journalists who continued to investigate the Herman Cain story after he dropped out? It would seem that that’s a story retaining a great deal of interest and enough statements exist on both sides for a investigation to determine who was lying. The last woman came forward with enough specific dates and places that someone could prove a negative, that someone (Cain) wasn’t at the places she claimed to have been at with him. And if she wasn’t, if she is the liar and not Cain then the political process was hijacked, subverted, manipulated. Again.

So yes, now and for the rest of this campaign, every time someone jumps up to throw some mud, hurl another shocking allegation or denounce the behavior of the GOP frontrunner without any real proof at all. I say we string them up. Are you with me?

Smear, NYC stuck with the bill,Perfect Pub, totty.

A smear that prospered far too long

A dogged NCIS investigator has proven that Ilario Pantano, then a Marine lieutenant, should never have been put up on war-crimes charges back in 2004-5. But that doesn’t wipe away the endless smears thrown at him since.

Maybe the media and the bloggers hated him so much because he lived the classic American success story.

There are high points to this story; two retired Marines who felt obliged to maintain a security watch around Pantano’s house, William Rodriguez of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service who finally cleared his name.

But five years later, after Ilario felt obliged to leave NY, after smears by liberal bloggers and the liberal press sank his North Carolina campaign for Congress. Read the full story.

Read how flimsy the initial case was. That enough people in the chain of command felt feeding a young Marine Lieutenant to the liberals and media during the Murtha era was a good idea.

How can we still find men like this to volunteer to go into battle for us? And worse than battle, the possible loss of honor and liberty.

For me the worst part is that none of the liberal dogs responsible will ever pay for their crimes.

…Need something to get the bad taste out of my mouth __

Ahh! Better.

Hey, 99 Percenters, You Call This ‘Fair’?

A study by the New York City Independent Budget Office was released this week, and you didn’t hear much about it in the mainstream media because it hurts their candidate’s message.

Keep in mind, I’m your Conservative Everyman. I’m no economist, nor am I a political scientist. I call ’em as I see ’em just like you do. And away we go…

New York City has a little more than 8 million residents. Of those many millions, 1% — ONE PERCENT — pays 43% of the income taxes. You know how many people that works out to? About 35,000 people.

Used to be more than 35,000. But the years of high taxes, sur-taxes, use-taxes and special assessments have cut the number of Fifth Ave. millionaires in NYC. You see, the rich are different than us. They aren’t tied to a job, they can move their business somewhere else.

Scientists learn, Pluto not the Moon is made of Green Cheese!

The Hubble Space Telescopehas spotted new evidence of complex organic molecules — the carbon-containing building blocks of life as we know it — on the frigid surface of Pluto, a new study finds.

Calling time on a landlord who ran the perfect pub

As London fills with ever more soulless public houses, landlords like Maurice Huggett, who died at the weekend, are to be celebrated.

Don’t sweat the small stuff

Václav

In the last years of his presidency, Havel’s political opponents ridiculed him as a naïve moralist. Many ordinary Czechs, on the other hand, had come to dislike him not only for what seemed like relentless moralizing, but also because he reflected back to them their own lack of courage during the Communist regime. While he continued to enjoy respect and admiration abroad, if only for continuing his fight against human-right abuses around the world, his popularity at home was shaken.

But not anymore. Czechs, given their growing dissatisfaction with the current political system’s omnipresent corruption and other failings, have increasingly come to appreciate the importance of Havel’s moral appeals. In fact, now, after his death, he is well on the way to being lionized as someone who foresaw many current problems, and not only at home: while still president, he repeatedly called attention to the self-destructive forces of industrial civilization and global capitalism.

Another piece on Vaclav Havel at the end.

Gun Collection……………………

You may have heard on the news about a southern California man that was put under 72-hour psychiatric observation when it was found he owned 100 guns and allegedly had (by rough estimate) 1-million rounds of ammunition stored in his home. The house also featured a secret escape tunnel.

My favorite quote from the dimwit television reporter: “Wow! He has about a million machine gun bullets.” The headline referred to it as a “massive weapons cache”.

By southern California standards someone even owning 100,000 rounds would be called “mentally unstable. Just imagine if he lived elsewhere:

In Arizona , he’d be called “an avid gun collector”.

In Arkansas , he’d be called “a novice gun collector”.

In Utah , he’d be called “moderately well prepared”, but they’d probably reserve judgment until they made sure that he had a corresponding quantity of stored food.

In Montana , he’d be called “The neighborhood ‘Go-To’ guy”.

In Idaho , he’d be called “a likely gubernatorial candidate”.

In Wyoming , he’d be called “an eligible bachelor”.

And, in Texas , he’d be called “a deer hunting buddy”.

Honey, I can explain … it’s not what you think

UP UNTIL THEN, IT WAS A WONDERFUL EVENING … A man on a date with a woman took her to the movies in Wesley Chapel, Fla. During the show, he asked her for her keys so he could get something out of her car. Then he stole the car.

And more…

TOM: The answers to your questions are no, no, maybe and no.

Vaclav Havel Crushed Communism By Speaking The Truth

Leadership: Europe’s outpouring of grief over the death of Vaclav Havel, hero of Czechoslovakia’s great Velvet Revolution, says much about its longing for more like him. His honesty and courage liberated Europe.

It’s a sin that so many petty people and artless fools are exalted in the media while not one in ten would recognized the name of Vaclav Havel. The George Washington of Eastern Europe.

We will not see his like again. Go with God.

“Smackdown”

A Word on Incandescent Light Bulbs

Here’s an enlightening “Smackdown” sequence in which Rand Paul challenges a smarmy Obama energy bureaucrat named Kathleen Hogan. It’s a telling exchange. When Paul points out, with devastating logic, that Obama’s policies are coercive and dehumanizing, Hogan’s only defense is that these measures had bipartisan support. This is sadly typical of the Washington mindset: It doesn’t matter if it’s stupid or hurtful or wrong, it just matters that we agreed on it. If the Beltway elite are on board, then who are you to argue?

Global Warming Kerfuffle (reposted from 2011, still timely)

Many years ago, my late wife Donie and I were watching a network news show (back when we still had some vestige of belief in their offerings) that was announcing the discovery popularization of Anthropogenic Global Warming and to illustrate their story they had a artists rendering of Palm trees on Cape Cod. From that day on to the day she passed away, any broadcast mention of AGW or politicians reference to AGW to excuse the immediate need to ban this or that, or to excoriate the people for not drying our clothes outside on hand woven lines tied to old growth forests or similar twaddle, she’d pound on the arm of the chair and say,”Where are my Palm Trees!“.

So, I thought I’d create The Palm Tree Poll. Continue reading

Important post on Coyote Blog: Environmentalist Stick-Up

Environmentalist Stick-Up

Watch the video, follow the link, show it to everyone you can.

From the comments:

  1. Stan/Tx:

    Fracturing:

The correct term is “fracturing” not “fracking”. Fracking is a made up word created by the environmental community and journalist that are not familiar with the correct term or process. It allows them to steer Internet searches away from the energy industry sites that contain truthful information.

The Pavillion draft report makes the completely unsubstantiated conclusion that fracturing is connected to ground water contamination.

    http://www.epa.gov/region8/superfund/wy/pavillion/EPA_ReportOnPavillion_Dec-8-2011.pdf

The EPA cherry picked a known shallow gas are to conduct is study.
The monitoring wells were contaminated by the mud and chemicals used in the drilling process.
The monitoring wells were 3 to 5 times as deep as normal ground water wells and the sampling process was designed to induce gas migration from the surrounding area.
Data from surface pit monitoring wells was used in the report. The surface pits are a known historic problem, they are being remediated by the oil company and they have nothing to do with fracturing.
An honest study would show that by drilling and depleting these shallow gas zones in the Pavillion area, the oil industry is reducing ground water contamination due to natural migration of gas in the formation.
