I’ve been wondering this month if the wind was ever going to abate. Or is that, Avast?
In the summer and fall I don’t mind the wind as much, but in the winter with chill water and a stiff breeze and all the spray that blows directly onto my face. Brrrh! So I waited, the forecast on one day( that would have been fine otherwise), 15-20mph with 30 mph gusts. On another fine day, 20-25mph with 35mph gusts, no thank you. Then we had several days with 25-40mph winds with 50mph gusts, Ah, come-on give me a break. (They were wrong about that days forecast, the gusts were 65mph.)
Then today rolls along with fine weather, 5 mph winds, temperature 40 degrees, partly cloudly, water temperature 47. Tide at launch was dead low, but that is not a problem from the Driftway ramp in Scituate. At this time of year the only people I’m sharing the waters with are the duck hunters. They are armed, I’m very polite.
None of the hunters I encountered had dogs in the boat, I wonder if I could have hired myself out a retriever?
Anyone looking for a missing lobster pot?
First day after a long stretch of heavy weather its not unusual to find a lot of lobster pots up on the beach.
This is only exposed at dead low tide, but its always there and has been for a very long time. Some of the damage to the pilings comes from being hit by boats under way.
Theo Spark has a recurring post, candidates for the perfect blogging spot. This would be my entry…
