Here’s a post that hit a responsive chord…

I’ve seen this on several different blogs.   So why am I also posting it?  So I can reprint my comment from American Digest on my own blog (I’m doing too much commenting on other peoples sites lately and not enough on my own).

Telling the customer off

The customer is always right.

Except if you walk out without paying, you are not a customer.

You are a thief.

James Chu who runs the SO restaurant in San Francisco had it with such deadbeats. He told Channel 7 that people have become too hard to please. It began when a customer refused to pay because he was displeased with the meal.

“The second guy came up to me and said, ‘The rule is, if we don’t like it we don’t have to pay.’ And as he walked out he started cursing at me and that’s when I went poof,” James Chu told the TV station.

He shut down and posted the sign. He later re-opened it with a sign that said: “We work hard to please everyone, but we know we can’t. So if you’re hard to please, please just turn around and go somewhere else. Thanks!”

If I ever go to San Francisco, I am looking that restaurant up. I like MSG. All food is organic. And IDGAF about gluten, one way or another.

My comment…

Lemon Chicken

http://www.kraftcanada.com/~/media/Kraft%20Canada/recipes/620x423/E/easy-lemon-chicken-piccata-122052.jpg

So in the week after my father died I was taking my mother and aunt out to eat. They didn’t feel like cooking and on that night neither did I. (though I planned to smoke two chickens for them the next day)

We ended up in little Chinese restaurant that we hadn’t been in before. The oldest Chinese waiter in the world came over to take our order.
My mother said, “They have Lemon Chicken on the menu, I love Lemon Chicken! That’s what I’ll have.”
(Have you ever seen a person with a lot of wrinkles on their face frown? It gets hard to spot where their mouth went.)
The waiter spoke. “NO! No Lemon Chicken!”.
“You are out of Lemon Chicken?” I asked.
“No Lemon Chicken to eat here!”, he replied,”If you want Lemon Chicken you get to-go. No eat here!”.
“Huh?”, I responded brilliantly.
“We cook Lemon Chicken, customer complain about the Lemon Chicken, so we no serve Lemon Chicken here. We don’t want to hear you complain about Lemon Chicken here. Lemon Chicken only to-go!”. “I give you more time look at menu, but No Lemon Chicken”, and then he walked away.

After a stunned moment we all broke out in laughter, deep barking sounds on my part as I dealt with other emotions I’d been keeping bottled up. I remember that laugh, I needed that laugh. To this day all that is needed to provoke a smile or a grin in the family is to said the words, “No Lemon Chicken”.
PS; The next day I smoked those chickens and while I went inside to check my email (or something, I don’t really remember) somehow an ember from the smoker got out and started a fire on the deck. Thanks to the broken fire hydrant, that was the day my house burned down. So you might say, being refused Lemon Chicken was the high point of my week.

This is what I got for a $300 water bill.

Started from seeds, Four O’clock flowers.Blanche_DSC0370

clipping_DSC0375 Moms flower bed IMG_0421It’s been a lousy year for cucumbers and the tomatoes have been slow to ripen but we’ve still made a lot of salads from fixings from the garden.  The herbs in the porch planters make a delicious Buttermilk Ranch Dressing;

1 cup buttermilk (or mayonnaise)

1/2 cup sour cream

Chives IMG_0393

1/2 teaspoon dried chives (or fresh)

Italian Parsley IMG_0398

1/2 teaspoon dried parsley (or fresh Italian Parsley)

1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Next year I’m going to plant some fresh Dill and Green Onions.  I’ve tried garlic but the garlic at the farm stand is better.

Basil and Rosemary IMG_0396

The Basil also goes into the salad and chopped up and tossed into the pasta with olive oil. The Rosemary with lamb and chicken.

Remember this?

SWAT team murders 107-year-old man at home

The family and friends of Monroe Isadore conducted a memorial this past Sunday at 13th and Pine streets in Pine Bluff, Ark

To the police, to the “special” prosecutor this is over.  Nothing to remark on, nothing needs changing.  A deaf, blind 107 year old man refused to obey orders he probably couldn’t hear, reacted to police grenades by firing shots (it is said by police) and died in a hail of police bullets.  In his own bedroom, in his own house.

The family is conducting a memorial, God be with them.

When I finished working in Boston in 2011 the Occupy “protests” were only a few weeks from starting.  Later on in the fall I saw some of it as I went back to the Financial District in Boston a few more times to see old friends that I had worked with.  Each time I walked by the parliament of fools sprawled (illegally) on the new Greenway project among the recently and (and since we are talking about the City of Boston) expensively installed scrubs and flowers. Seeing the idiots tying strings to frail bushes to drape their rants and rain shelters and ruining the same for no good cause made to rise in me an urge to rigorously kick some dirty behinds.

But each time I came into Boston where-ever I saw those damn dirty apes (where have I heard that line before?) I also (always) saw the Boston Police, the State Troopers or the Capital Police.  And I knew the real reason they were there and to protect City or State property wasn’t one of them.  To enforce health codes wasn’t the reason, because they didn’t.  To enforce the edicts and ordinances banning open and public lewdness, intoxication, public swearing…etc: No, No, No, No and etc…     The real and only reason they were there was to protect the Occupy Scum from people like me.  The tens of thousands of citizens who got off the trains and buses at South Station each morning and at the end of the day turned around and scuffled off on the return journey each evening.  Who paid taxes that initially paid for what was being defiled and would have to pony up to pay for the replacement after it was over.   From the sick and angry sideways looks at Elizabeth Warren’s children you knew that if the “Forces of Public Order” weren’t there then quite a few of those workers would have gone home, changed into their weekend work clothes, gotten the softball bat or golf club and returned to clean house.  Oh Yes!

That poor English girl in the story about Rotherham.  What is a charge of “arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offenses” but political correctness made supreme and Occupy Triumphant.

Since the whole Occupy fiasco I’ve been keenly watching the stories of the use of the power of the State to protect any assault on the liberty and fortunes of the people by those outsiders favored by that State to break the power of the ballot box and to strip the means of the people to support themselves without having to kneel in the dirt and hold out a supplicating hand to beg for enough to live on.   In California nobody will answer the question of why, if you have the illegals in custody and on a bus, why did you turn that bus north instead of south?  When the citizens of the state block the road and turn those buses back, why do armed federal agents form a line to protect those who have no right to be in the country? Why do the citizens get threatened with arrest and the use of force if they repeat their actions?    Why the HELL are you FLYING illegals from the southern border to Alaska, Massachusetts and Maine (among a few).   Well, as I’ve opined, the reason seems clear.  To break us.

The future seems clear, and bleak.  The huge increase in domestic surveillance, the militarization of all Federal agencies, and purging of the US military using a political litmus test.  The question is, how soon?  And will enough of the US Military and Federal establishment be willing to go along with the Regimes plans for them to succeed?

Reblog: Over at InstaPundit

STEPHEN CARTER: The Islamic State’s Centuries-Old Strategy.
What the debate is lacking is a sense of history. And the historical antecedents do supply an early analogy to Islamic State — a warrior people who came out of nowhere, defeated mightier forces in battle, accumulated wealth and, in their bloody ferocity, terrified every civilization with which they came into contact.

A lively discussion ensued.   Lot of back and forth comment on the true level of the threat posed by ISIS, and this;

DaveC
Civilization is based upon lifelong monogamous marriage. Once that’s abolished, attractive women indulge their hypergamous instincts by lavishing attention on the most attractive 20% of men, telling the other 80% to go screw themselves. This is not without precedent; it’s happened to every civilization that achieved two or three generations of physical and nutritional security.

Along comes a horde of barbarians, saying “join us, and when we win, you’ll get a 12-year-old virgin bride to do with as you please”, a big chunk of that 80% switches sides, and the feminist utopia disappears in an orgy of rape and slaughter.

My comment.

“Once that’s abolished, attractive women indulge their hypergamous instincts by lavishing attention on the most attractive 20% of men, telling the other 80% to go screw themselves.”

Add to that. It’s an appeal not limited only to the areas only under the shadow of the barbarians, hence the inflow of western born adherents holding western passports. In fact it’s the areas most exposed to the “Feminist Utopia” that the supposedly westernized Muslims are coming from. They can have them.

In a match of the Puritan Roundheads against the Turkish Sipahi, I’d bet on the Roundheads. But neither would show much mercy towards the,

club. More’s the pity.

Or these dolly’s,  who only perform their nudist rebellion behind the shield of scores of local police, their countries intelligence services, the armed might of NATO and the millions of American Armed Forces around the world.

That’s an eroding shield, at best.

Another problem we aren’t prepared for.

Winston Churchill:  “There is nothing so exhilarating then to shot at…and missed”.

Scientists say worst of strong solar storm will likely miss Earth

anr_storms_011513.jpg

A strong solar flare is blasting its way to Earth, but the worst of its power looks like it will barely skim above the planet and not cause many problems.

It has been several years since Earth has had a solar storm of this size coming from sunspots smack in the middle of the sun, said Tom Berger, director of the Space Weather Prediction Center in Boulder, Colorado. The flare on the sun barely hits the “extreme” on forecasters’ scale, but with its worst effects missing Earth it is only looking “potentially strong” at most when it arrives at Earth as a solar storm, he said.

See you Monday,  if all technic civilization on Earth isn’t wiped out.
