Gas Can thread at Instapundit.

OUR GOVERNMENT AT WORK: Five Years Of Gas-Can Hell.

I’m pretty sure gas cans used to work. Yes. It was a can. It had a spout. It had a vent hole on the other side. You stuck in the spout and tipped. You never saw the gas.

Then government “fixed” the gas can. Why? Because of the environmental hazards that come with spilled gas. You read that right. In other words, the very opposite resulted. Now you cannot buy a decent can anywhere. You can look forever and not find a new one.

Instead you have to go to garage sales. But actually people hoard old cans.

Yeah, I have a couple of old ones I was going to throw away, but I kept them precisely because everyone says the new ones suck.

The new gas cans, dishwashers, washing machines, light bulbs, water heaters, shower heads, toilets, air conditioners, furnaces, and ranges suck.

Remember when people mocked Communist consumer goods? This is what we have become.

This is a little example I ran into when I wanted to sell a Bosch drill battery charger on Ebay. I found this little exchange between a purchaser and a Bosch tools rep in the Amazon reviews.

Where did the 30 minute chargers go?
I have many of the Bosch 12 volt tools. I recently bought another 12 volt impact from Bosch, and it came with this one hour charger? I am left wondering……why in the world would Bosch come out with a 30 minute charger at first, but then discontinue it, and come out with this one? Most of us who use these tools at our jobs, don’t have yet another 30 minutes to wait for a battery to charge! Could a Bosch Representative please respond to this review?! If there is a good reason why Bosch 12 volt tools now come with this new 1 hour charger instead of a 30 minute charger, I would sure like to know!

Response from Bosch Tools:
Bosch Tools Customer Support 4 months ago
Thank you for your question. New Energy Laws went into effect 2/1/13. Our 30 minute chargers were not compliant with the new energy requirements and could not be manufactured after that date but could still be sold until stock was depleted. If you have further questions please feel free to contact our Customer Service Representatives at 1-877-267-2499.

The new model also seems much more prone to malfunctioning.
I lowered my price and gave buyers a heads up as to the downsides of the new model. My jaw just kind of dropped picturing Bosch having to go back to the drawing board and to retool production lines to make a inferior product. Wonder what the price tag was on that?

Big problem is that it seems to cost more to build things that don’t work as well or are just to complicated for their own good and we are all paying the price with cash and aggravation. The manufacturers are just passing the cost directly to the consumer.

After the house fire and the refurnishing of the new house, I really noticed the problem.  Items like this that we had owned for decades (and worked) could not be replaced with acceptable, working replacements.  We were spending good money for crap.  Made in China, Crap .

A Woman and a Democrat, Surprise!

Kentucky lawmaker’s bill would require men to get wife’s permission for Viagra

State Rep. Mary Lou Marzian, a Democrat, acknowledged to the Louisville Courier-Journal that the bill has no chance of passing. However, she said the bill was a response to several anti-abortion measures, including a recently ratified law that requires a woman seeking an abortion to get counseling at least 24 hours in advance from a health professional.

And if you are a widower, who do you get to sign the permission slip?  Your mother?

How about requiring a woman who wants an abortion to show that she (at least) filled a prescription for birth control pills, regularly.  When I grew up it was understood that abortion was the death of a fetus, a human life.  I still believe this.  As I believe that abortion is a sick form of birth control.

Cold Equations.

RIP Justice Scalia.  He fought the good fight for more than thirty years.

Now, all our freedoms are imperiled.  No one I’ve talked to believes that the do-nothing, gutless GOP Congress will deny Barry Soetoro his last and greatest victory.  What diseased and twisted POS he puts on the Supreme Court to join the two rug-munchers he’s already disgraced it with; I can’t imagine.

Then it’s 5 to four against liberty, the Constitution and civilization.  That’s the cold hard math.

Nippy up here in Yankee-land too this morning.

Subject: We Are Almost There!
Please read this and think.
There are 8 levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a
socialist/communist State.
1.  Healthcare:
“Control Healthcare and you control the People.”
DONE!!!
2.  Poverty:
“Increase the Poverty level as high as possible.”  Poor People are easier
to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to
live.
DONE!!!
3.  Debt:
“Increase the National Debt to an unsustainable level.”  That way you are
able to increase Taxes, and this will produce more Poverty.
DONE!!!
4.  Class Warfare:
“Divide the People into the Wealthy against the
Poor.  Racially divide.”  This will cause more discontent and it will
be easier to Tax the Wealthy with full support of the voting Poor.
DONE!!!
5.  Welfare:
“Take control of every aspect of their lives” (Food, Livestock, Housing, and
Income).
DONE!!!
6.  Education:
“Take control of what people read and listen (News Media) to along with control
of what children learn in school.”
DONE!!!
7.  Religion:
“Remove faith in God from the government and school.”
DONE!!!
8.  Gun Control:
“Remove the ability to defend themselves from the
Government.”  That way you are able to create a Police State – total local
control.

ALMOST THERE!!!

Yes, it look’s like we’re almost done, just one election may decide our fate. We are ripe for the “New World Order”.
“War is when the government tells the people who it’s enemies are. Revolution is when the people figure it out for themselves.”

Stupid Criminals and the MA Judges that release them.

Last year…

Two Charged in Armed Robbery; Weapon Found to be Replica

BOSTON, Oct. 27, 2015—A Needham resident and his Dorchester associate were arraigned today on armed robbery and related charges after they allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint while wearing masks, Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley said.

KOSTYA RAGIN (D.O.B. 12/27/95) of Needham and ANDRONIQUE DOSSANTOS (D.O.B. 2/26/97) of Dorchester were arraigned today in Dorchester Municipal Court on charges of armed robbery while masked and assault with a dangerous weapon. Ragin was additionally charged with assault and battery.

Assistant District Attorney Julien Mundele recommended $50,000 cash bail for each defendant, plus orders that they wear GPS monitoring devices and stay away from the location of the offense, and abide by a curfew if they post that amount. Judge Serge Georges, Jr., imposed $3,500 bail for Ragin and $2,500 for Dossantos, with all of the requested conditions of release for both defendants.

Judge Serge Georges, Jr.

A black judge appointed by (black) Gov. Deval Patrick in 2013.

This year…

(credit Boston Herald): Three stooges of crime — masked but still wearing their court-ordered GPS ankle bracelets during a Dorchester corner store robbery — were nabbed the same night in an apartment just a block away after cops tracked the dim-witted trio from the holdup to their hideout, a prosecutor said.

The height of their alleged stupidity astonished the store clerk, who had stared down the barrel of a silver .45 handgun during the robbery at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

“All these individuals did have GPS affixed to them. All their GPSs pinged to the store at the time of the robbery,” said prosecutor Marc Tohme.

Tohme said police are looking at whether the three men might be connected to a string of armed robberies with the same “M.O.”

“Three men, with three masks, armed with a silver handgun,” Tohme said.

Gun was real this year.  A reasonable person might ask why these dirtballs were still on the streets, but an informed citizen of the People’s Republic knows that our courts and especially Judges like Georges are all members of the same criminal conspiracy and brotherhood.  Massachusetts is probably beyond saving.

And I don’t go into Boston anymore.

If I’m wrong, then explain why those thugs were still not locked up where they belong.

Guest: Charlie has an opinion

Charley Reese’s final column for the Orlando Sentinel…
He has been a journalist for 49 years.
He is retiring and this is HIS LAST COLUMN.
Be sure to read the Tax List at the end.
This is about as clear and easy to understand as it can be. The article below is completely neutral, neither anti-republican or democrat. Charlie Reese, a retired reporter for the Orlando Sentinel, has hit the nail directly on the head, defining clearly who it is that in the final analysis must assume responsibility for the judgments made that impact each one of us every day. It’s a short but good read. Worth the time. Worth remembering!
545 vs. 300,000,000 People
-By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The President does.
You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House now? He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red.
If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it’s because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan …
If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it’s because they want it that way.
There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.
They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses. Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees…
We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess! What you do with this article now that you have read it… is up to you.
This might be funny if it weren’t so true.
Be sure to read all the way to the end:
Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table,
At which he’s fed.
Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.
Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for
peanuts anyway!
Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.
Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.
Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.
Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.
Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.
Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won’t be done
Till he has no dough.
When he screams and hollers;
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He’s good and sore.
Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he’s laid…
Put these words
Upon his tomb,
‘Taxes drove me
to my doom…’
When he’s gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

, if agreed, stayed home to raise the kids.

What in the heck happened? Can you spell ‘politicians?’

I hope this goes around THE USA at least 545 times!!!

50 is the new 20.

Money not years.  In case you are wondering.

As a member of the ‘Getting up there in years’ crowd and in anticipation of beginning my retirement next month; I wish to take issue with the “No cost of living increase because there has been no inflation” coda of the US Government.  As an example of my taking issue with this clearly false premise. Let me illustrate my point with a brief story.

I’m a tight ass who is disturbed by the thought that I might not have the means to pay for something that I have received; a meal, a drink, a passage to India. So I developed the habit of concealing cash in my vehicles and my trusty backpacks.  ‘Mad Money’, an emergency ten spot that later was upgraded to a twenty.  Commuting to Boston for many years it was always on my mind that my wallet could get lifted or lost.  I could get home on twenty bucks.  As Cash-Only gas stations became the rule for the lowest price for refueling, that twenty in the car with whatever was left in the wallet would buy a tank of gas.

So it was recently that I was visiting a friend and working on fixing an old snowblower.  Sitting on the wet ground (in my old jeans)  I left my wallet on the table inside to prevent the leather from getting wet.   We went out to catch the sunset at the beach (I with my camera) …Nelson park at sunset in Jan_DSC1000

and on the way back made the spot decision to drop into a local pub for a beer and stuffed Quahog.  It was as we finished and I reached into my empty pocket to pay the bill I realized that I forgot to grab my wallet before we left.  Neither of us had any money.

I went outside to grab the cash in the car and came back inside to realize the sad truth that twenty bucks doesn’t cover four beers and Quahog anymore.  It did once, including the tip.  But no more.  Clearly the time has come to upgrade the cash stash to a fifty.   But then I thought that it wasn’t that long ago that that beer would have been $3 not $6.50.  And of course (in Massachusetts) the sales tax would have been 5% not 6.5%.  That all seems inflationary to me.  But not, apparently, to the US Government (Who just murdered a White man with his hands up to the widespread approval of the mass media) that has again denied any Cost of Living Adjustment to the retired.  Of course, for the most part, food isn’t included in their formula or calculations.  Neither is a lot of items that effect the retirement population.  That food (in main part due to the US Governments mismanagement) is higher (sharply),  property taxes, (all taxes in fact), energy to heat and light the home have gone up steadily.

On the other hand your cost to purchase a F16 fighter aircraft is the same as last year; so there is that.

It would be one thing if you could ‘opt out’ of the whole government control of Social Security thing, you keep your own money and they stop being able to siphon off a big cut to hand out to the grasshoppers and for themselves.  But you can’t.  You should, but you can’t.  Because the whole corrupt structure would fall down since it’s broke.   Pity that in 1935 the whole plan was enacted as a Federal Program passed by Congress and not a Constitutional Amendment  (it should have been for so drastic a change in the relationship between government and the governed).   Then LBJ wouldn’t have been able to break the trust fund and get his hands on the money.  In the sure knowledge that by the time the effects of the theft were realized, he’d be dead.

Now I’m just rambling.    So as I said,  “Fifty bucks is the new Twenty”.

The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.
— Vladimir Ilyich Lenin

Subject: GROAN  !!!
The Lone Ranger and Tonto walked into a saloon and sat down to drink a beer.
After a few minutes, a big tall cowboy walked in and said “Who owns the big white horse outside?”   The Lone Ranger stood up, hitched his gun belt, and said, “I do….Why?”

The cowboy looked at the Lone Ranger and said, “I just thought you’d like to know that your horse is about dead outside!”

The Lone Ranger and Tonto rushed outside and sure enough Silver was ready to die from heat exhaustion.   The Lone Ranger got the horse water and soon Silver was starting to feel a little better.

The Lone Ranger turned to Tonto and said, “Tonto, I want you to run around Silver and see if you can create enough of a breeze to make him start to feel better.”  Tonto said, “Sure, Kemosabe” and took off running circles around Silver.

Not able to do anything else but wait, the Lone Ranger returned to the saloon to finish his drink.

A few minutes later, another cowboy struts into the bar and asks, “Who owns that big white horse outside?”   The Lone Ranger stands again, and claims, “I do, what’s wrong with him this time?”

“Nothing, but you left your Injun running”.
