Vitamin C

Vitamin C Conundrum for the Organic Crowd

If some of you find the following to be disquieting, I apologize in advance. But (A) it is all true; (B) it’s information your vitamin shops don’t want you to have; and (C) it will possibly screw with your head a little, in an ironic sort of way.

Did you ever wonder where your vitamin C comes from? Perhaps, on some level,  you envision a bunch of flaxen-haired beauties with flowers in their hair, blithely meandering through lush orange groves, lovingly selecting only the finest fruit, which will later be hand-squeezed to ensure that you will be getting nothing short of a miracle of nature?

You may need to adjust your expectations somewhat. Here is where your vitamin C really comes from:

Yeah, I knew that.   I’m still taking a big dose of Vitamin C each morning, does it help?  I wonder.

BTW, do NOT ask about shrimp!

Why is raising the minimum wage a priority?

Why?  When there are articles like this one from the New York Post…

Americans haven’t gotten a raise in 16 years

And that drop in the unemployment rate that everyone likes to point to? Even the Fed doesn’t trust it and has formulated its own replacement gauge.

Here’s why: When you count all the workers who have been stuck with part-time employment or who haven’t searched for work in a year, the jobless rate is twice the official 5% level. And many of the full-time jobs created have been in the lower-paying service sector of the economy.

When you include those people who haven’t sought a job in more than a year, the unemployment rate jumps much higher.

How high? Washington doesn’t even bother trying to calculate what it is.

One last statistic, from Sentier Research. Median annual household income in the US reached $57,263 this past March, which was 4.5% higher than in March 2015.

But — and here’s where the anger comes in — this March’s figure is still slightly below the $57,342 median annual income in January 2000.

January 2000!

Americans haven’t gotten a raise in more than 16 years.

Statistical noise doesn’t just confuse economists and politicians. It also drowns out the sound of people complaining.

Raising the minimum wage to $15/ hour would be doubling the money being handed over to those that are so young that they have not yet learned what a job really is, those with personal problems such as mental illness or drug dependence that keep them mired on the first step of the ladder.  Rewards those who shirk responsibility and have never done anymore than the ‘minimum’ to get by.

I retired last month.  It’s cool, I’m doing OK.  No debts, enough to live on.  I volunteer as a medical van driver about ten to twenty hours a week, meet people and am learning about the ins and outs of the back streets of my town.  If I had to I’d get a (minimum) wage job to make ends meet.  But I’d expect that it wouldn’t be minimum wage or I wouldn’t stay at minimum wage very long.  After forty  plus years I know how to work; work undistracted by iPhones, Walkmans (showing my age there) or drugs.  Because I know that no one ‘owes’ me a paycheck just for showing up.

Incidentally, that ‘Minimum Wage’ of $15 dollars an hour is seven thousand dollars over the halfway point of the national median income quoted above.  So two minimum wage losers (if they could keep their jobs) would be far better off than that ‘Median’ American family that no one is interested in helping. (No Raise for You!)  That family that pays higher taxes, has student loans, property taxes…

and is going to vote for Donald Trump.

Tensions easing, funny is back.

I think everyone has decided the the Primary drama is over, it’s Trump and the Bitch Witch Un-Indicted Co-Conspirator until the summer’s Conventions when who knows what is going to happen.  The tension is easing, funny is back.

One of the goofier things yesterday is we are now back to paper ballots. The Left has been trying to shake down Diebold and ES&S for years. These are the firms that make the computer voting gear. Since they can’t get these companies to rig the machines in favor of the party, the party has made war on the companies. At least in Maryland, the campaign has worked so we are back to paper ballots. I guess if the paper company is found to be run by a conservative, I’ll be voting with colored rocks next time.

They should put Prince on the 20 dollar bill and call it $19.99. It will be the bill formerly known as twenty.

My favorite.

General James Mattis, keep an eye on this guy.

“Worth more than 10 battleships or five armed divisions is a sense of American political resolve” .

“Since coming back from overseas, this is more of a foreign country than the places overseas,” he said. “I don’t understand it. It’s like America has lost faith in rational thought.”

Mattis’ remarks focused on Iran, which he characterized as the “single most enduring threat to stability and peace in the Middle East,” regardless of the attention given to Islamic State extremists and other non-state actors.

…the U.S. is in a “strategy-free mode,” he said, shifting attention from one region of the world to another without consistency.

“My point is, we’ve got to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time,” he said.

“For a sitting U.S. president to see our allies as freeloaders is nuts.”

“The bottom line on the American situation is that the next president is going to inherit a mess,” he said. “That’s the most diplomatic word for it.”

Free the tabby! (?)

Fresh off SeaWorld victory, animal rights groups take aim at zoos, circuses and maybe your pet

Fresh off a victory over SeaWorld and its controversial orca program, animal rights groups are zeroing in on zoos, aquariums and circuses — and one prominent expert warns your dog and cat could be next.

A well-funded coalition of nonprofits finally broke SeaWorld, when the theme park chain announced in March it would phase out its popular killer whale program. Now the groups smell blood in the water – and on land.

It’s what happens when people get addicted to the rush of forcing their will on another.   A couple of years ago it was homosexuality onto the Boy Scouts, today it’s Transgender bathroom ‘rights’, there will be no ‘final’ victory or point at which these activists are satisfied.

Circus and Aquariums have no final line of defense, they might as well close their doors now since every victory they allow these extremists saps their own resources and encourages them find another line of attack.

Game, set…Trump

Poll: Trump Reaches 50 Percent Support Nationally for the First Time

Donald Trump has reached 50 percent support from Republicans and Republican-leaners nationally for the first time since the beginning of the NBC News|SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking Poll in late December. This milestone is significant as the 2016 primary heads into its final few weeks of contests, as there has been intense speculation that Trump’s support has a ceiling. Though his support has hovered in the high 40s since mid-March, the front-runner had yet to secure half of Republican voters.

I had that conversation with friends earlier on about Trump’s support, if he was to win the Nov election, Trump had to be attractive to the supporters of those candidates that dropped out.  If Trump’s support was only among a core group of supporters and if Trump was not picking up new supporters as the field thins out, then it would become oblivious and he would be done.

Now it’s oblivious that he is picking up the support from Carson, Rubio and other candidates that ended their campaigns and it’s Cruz that hasn’t succeeded in widening his appeal.    That’s poly sci, man!

Since the real election began; we have had new major terrorist attacks in the USA and EU,  illegal immigration has caused real problem in the same areas and this stagnate economy is showing signs of the imminence of another disastrous recession.   Trump is the only candidate that treats these issues as the most important issues of our time.  ‘Climate Change’, not so much.  ‘Fifteen Dollar Min. Wage’,  not helping.  ‘Transgender Rights’,  are you kidding me?

But those are the issues that the Democrats have been touting and will be forced to campaign on in the fall.  These are NOT winning issues.   By the summer the Democrat and Republican elites will start to panic, I’m not as afraid of ISIS or the Russians as I am of the terrorists within the Democratic and Republican parties elites.  What will they do this time to throw the election?   Because mere fraud will not be enough to stop Trump.

My first and only sports hero: Curt Schilling.

Highlights from Schilling:

Men’s rooms were clearly designed for men, who stand up when they go pee. Women’s rooms were not. Well that turned out to be “transphobic.” I made this comment and shared this post on my private Facebook page. Only my friends could see it. It wasn’t public.”

“What the hell was a urinal made for?” That question turned out to be transphobic.

Here’s the problem. First of all, nothing I said was trans, number one. I had multiple trans employees who were some of the best people I worked with. My youngest son helps run the LGBT club. Here’s the thing. I’ve come to realize the reason people get pissed is because we don’t make it a big a deal as they do.

If I’d come out yesterday and said “transgender people are the greatest people in the world and anyone who disagrees is a son of a bitch,” all ESPN would’ve said is “Hey, don’t use that language here.” That would’ve been it…

First Amendment doesn’t apply here. When you work for other people there are consequences.

There’s a double standard here. It’s not okay to allow one “racist” opinion and not another, that’s a problem. There was nothing even racist about that meme!

We’ve allowed the vocal minority to shut up everyone else. Now it drives our political agenda.

There are so many other things that are actually legitimately scary, like ISIS, this movement doesn’t measure up.

Pedophiles will use this law to their advantage and someone’s going to get hurt. Transgenders aren’t pedophiles, that’s not the problem! It’s the pervert men who are the problem!

We’ve reached a tipping point in our culture. Men in women’s bathrooms? That’s an issue of today. Can you imagine this happening five or ten years ago? No, exactly. The SJW movement is pushing way too hard and too fast on this cultural rot. There’s pushback now, and Curt Schilling is at the head of it. The entire idea that people who disagree with men being in a restroom with women and girls is somehow hateful? Too far, SJWs. You’ve gone too far.

A Repeat of the very powerful video – check out 3 minute mark showing a kid with his teddy bear.
The Snake

Donald Trump began reciting the lyrics to a song entitled “The Snake” at his rallies, a few weeks back, which was not reported by the mainstream media.    (Not “PC” of course)

To tell you more would be to give away the following video that is allegedly making its way through Europe.

This is a POWERFUL video that cuts straight to the heart.
