“I need, like, an insurance invitation. If somebody was like, ‘Hey, you know what? We would like to insure your boobs for $2.5 million dollars,’ I’d be like, ‘Do it. Love it! Why not?'” Love Hewiit told USA Today. “These things right here are worth $5 million!”

My question is, has anyone ever cashed in on one of those “famous body part” insurance policies? Marlene Dietrich’s legs, Julia Roberts smile, Jimmy Durante’s nose and so on…

I want to be a Space Cowboy, and repair space fences.

I’m not officially retired, I’m just not getting any unemployment checks anymore, but I still download job postings and occasionally make calls or email if something “in my line” shows up.

Today I saw this…

Space Fence Information Assurance EngineerJacobs Technology – MA-Bedford – Posted: 3/10/2013

OK, I’ve got to inquire about this one.

We have an immediate need for an Information Assurance Engineer to support the US Air Force Space Fence program at Hanscom AFB in Bedford, MA. Responsibilities include:

  • Provide support to ensure full integration of IA into all phases of acquisition, upgrade, and modification programs, including design, development, testing, fielding, operation, and sustainment, including DoD Information Assurance Certification and Accreditation (C&A) Process (DIACAP) compliance.
  • Encompass the full range of IA and information security processes, procedures, functions, and security plus certification to reviewing data, maintaining/implementing and compliance notification of required IAVAs, NOTAMs and information security posture.
  • Support government efforts to establish, control, define and maintain technical baselines to establish consistency of products’ attributes to ensure robust information sharing, situational awareness, and meet operational, interoperability and supportability requirements, security accreditation and technical milestone documentation.
  • Ensure C&A documentation is submitted correctly and on the required milestone schedule; acting as the program representative and action officer for the Enterprise Information Technology Data Repository (EITDR), ensuring all inputs are timely and correctly-loaded; ensuring FISMA compliance is accurately documented; reviewing equipment change proposals (ECP) to ensure that any system security issues are addressed before the ECP is signed/sent to the Configuration Control Board (CCB); collaborating with the test lead for Certification Test and Evaluation (CT&E) and the ST&E.

Wild guess, they want someone to fill out government paperwork. And smile.

I can do that.

Kayak season, slightly off track.

As late as Thursday, the beginning of the Kayak Season was looking good with open water and ramps.

Snowbound

When I retired for the night on Thursday the maximum predication in my town for snow was 3″ to 6″. I woke up to 24 inches of wet heavy snow.March StormIMG_0773 Snowbound

This was three days after I watched my snowthrower depart on a truck to be repaired.  The drive belts and plate were severely worn after cleaning up after the last storm dropped two feet of snow on my three hundred foot driveway.

We are now struck in the house since not even my Honda Element (AWD) can handle that much snow. I’ve been trying to get a plow to clear a path but since I always do the job myself I don’t have a relationship with a regular plow guy. And since any Tom, Dick or Harry with a pick-up and a plow can’t handle this much snow and my long, narrow driveway I need a guy with a large truck and packing a big blade.  Since this storm was unexpected, they are all out working on their regular customers.

Hence, snowbound. Day Two. With a eighty-five year old (mother) and a seventy-eight year old (deaf aunt).

Update: So, after a day of not having my calls to plowing contractors returned.  I’m standing at the end of the driveway attempting to (hand) shovel a space for my neighbors husband to park.   A guy and his wife, in their F350 with a plow attached, stop and begin negotiations. Well, not much of an negotiation. Sellers market.  You see, all last year was a washout for plowing contractors with almost zero snow on the ground and never any more at any one time than a person could sweep away with a broom. Nothing this year until the big February storm. Then nothing and nothing else forecast to fall as late as Tuesday. Warming temperatures until the beginning of Spring.  (So I sent my snowthrower off for repair…WELL! Why not?)

A lot of guys and landscapers pulled the plowing equipment from the front of the trucks, after all the price of gas is an excellent reason to get rid of hundreds of pounds of excess weight from any vehicle.

$200 bucks.  God Bless the market economy.

McCain and Graham Attack Rand Paul’s Filibuster

Attended a “dinner” for Barak Obama while Rep. Paul was filibustering against another horrible 2nd term appointment.

McCain: “If Mr. Paul wants to be taken seriously, he needs to do more than pull political stunts that fire up impressionable libertarian kids in college dorms

In 2008 I “held my nose” and voted for McCain, but I never thought he was anything butThe best Democrat running“.rand rhinios rand fighter

Today I truly feel that if the Republican Party wants to get anywhere they need to kick this asshole out of their ranks. So hard that he bounces three times after he hits the street.

REAL LIFE: Female soldier in Afghanistan attempting to carry a “full combat load;” she couldn’t do it, and she eventually had to “off-load” 50% of her “combat load” on her male counterparts. This happens all too often today in the military, and male soldiers are “fed-up” with it.

Incidentally, last months post on women in combat, I intended to link to an article documenting the importance of Testosterone (Men got it, Women…not so much).  Never did get around to it.

Testosterone plays a key role in the development of male reproductive tissues such as the testis and prostate as well as promoting secondary sexual characteristics such as increased muscle, bone mass, and the growth of body hair.[3] In addition, testosterone is essential for health and well-being[4] as well as the prevention of osteoporosis.[5]

On average, in adult human males, the plasma concentration of testosterone is about 7–8 times as great as the concentration in adult human females’ plasma,[6] but as the metabolic consumption of testosterone in males is greater, the daily production is about 20 times greater in men.[7][8]

Consider it done. Remember, Late only counts in races and periods.

Smells like victory.

3-D Printed Car Is as Strong as Steel, Half the Weight, and Nearing Production

“Download this gun”: 3D-printed semi-automatic fires over 600 rounds

And the Department of Justice says there’s nothing illegal about it, either.

The white portion of this AR-15, known as the "lower," was manufactured using 3D printing.

The white portion of this AR-15, known as the “lower,” was manufactured using 3D printing.

The lower, or “lower receiver” part of a firearm, is the crucial part that contains all of the gun’s operating parts, including the trigger group and the magazine port. (Under American law, the lower is what’s defined as the firearm itself.) The AR is designed to be modular, meaning it can receive different types of “uppers” (barrels) as well as different-sized magazines.

“This is the first publicly printed AR lower demonstrated to withstand a large volume of .223 without structural degradation or failure,” Wilson wrote on Wednesday. “The actual count was 660+ on day 1 with the SLA lower. The test ended when we ran out of ammunition, but this lower could easily withstand 1,000 rounds.”

The computer and the internet changed the paradigm of information transfer and control of the news. This has the power to challenge the governments control of a citizens access to the weapons necessary to resist that government.

So how, exactly, do you create modern smokeless gunpowder?  The other governmental bottleneck to free men and women arming themselves is the ammunition.  That information is out there too.

Gunpowder, An Overview Of Modern Smokeless Propellants

Smokeless Powder

If you can make both yourself it’s better than buying the finished product and signing the government mandated forms. Complete with a valid address so they know where to go when someone decides it time to disarm the people.

Doug: Wyman Meinzer

This just in………………absolutely beautiful! Speakers will be turned up enjoy. SemperFi signature Doug

Little Bit of West Texas

Wyman Meinzer is the photographer. He once lived in the old jail in Benjamin , TX . The photo of the coiled rattlesnake appeared on the cover of a wildlife magazine in the 80s. He said there were times he crawled a long way on his belly to get a good shot of a wild animal. And the music is perfect. It was a pleasure to see so many living deer with such amazing antlers. These old fellows have been around a long time to grow horns like that.

The music is by Doug Smith. Doug is from Petersburg , Texas . Doug plays by ear – He cannot read music, but has many CDs you may want to buy. A pickup accident left Doug paralyzed, but fortunately he has learned to play again. Most of the pictures were taken in West Texas in the rolling plains (Caprock to Seymour ), the Fork, 6666, and Waggoner Ranches. There are some scenes in Palo Duro Canyon . Take a few moments and view and listen. I doubt if you’ll ever see such fantastic use of music set to amazing animal and landscape photography. The changes in the tempo perfectly compliment the scenery.

It is quite simply a beautiful portrayal of the state of Texas
