The Larch…No, No, the Black Locust.

And I’m not talking about the low information voter.  I have these trees on my property…

DSC_6045 Black locust white flowers

They look pretty with the masses of white flower blossoms don’t they?  A day later (after some moderate winds) not so blindingly white.

IMG_0900 Black Locust trees bloom

There did the white blossoms go?

IMG_0899 Why I hate the black locust tree

Everywhere. Once off the tree, they rot fast, and stick to whatever they are rotting on.

The tree stands out so blindingly when the blossoms are at their peak but then I noticed as I biked around the town that I didn’t see any of these trees elsewhere in the area. So I did a little research.

Mass Audubon lists the tree as an invasive species. The USDA Forest Service notes it appears in second-growth forests in Massachusetts.

It’s prime useful characteristic is a rot-Resistance in contact with the ground, it is a hardwood and also burns well. I’ve burned it in my outside fire pit and it burns with a pungent odor and completely reduces to a fine ash.  I have read descriptions of the wood as “natures pressure treated wood” and prior to modern PT woods for use in contact with the ground was much prized for that reason. Especially fence-posts.

I think that is how my stand of Black Locust got here. My house is located on the former site of Sherrick Farm (our original house was built in colonial times, burned down in 2004) and the original fence separating the property was wood posts with attached rusty wire. The posts looked like trimmed tree trunks, de-barked. All gone now, the contractor who built the housing development where the farm used to be tore them all out. But the farmers from Massachusetts who discovered these trees in the Ohio river valleys sent some seedlings back home and that is where (I think) my unique stand of Black Locust trees come from.

But I still hate cleaning up the damn blossoms and stems, especially from the gutters!

Timbuktu’s slaves liberated as Islamists flee

Yes, Slaves.

Islam never gave up slavery, never.

Timbuktu 0471369067581

Mbarka Wallet Hallane, 50, a former slave, poses for a portrait in Timbuktu. Across this sand-swept city, thousands of darker-skinned modern day slaves, known as Bellas, are experiencing a sense of liberation, many for the first time in their lives.

From the Wall Street Journal

Ayaan Hirsi Ali: The Problem of Muslim Leadership

Another Islamist terror attack, another round of assurances that it had nothing to do with the religion of peace.

My friend, the Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh, was murdered in 2004 for having been insufficiently reverent toward Islam. In the courtroom, the killer looked at Theo’s mother and said to her: “I must confess honestly that I do not empathize with you. I do not feel your pain. . . . I cannot empathize with you because you are an unbeliever.”

And yet, after nearly a decade of similar rhetoric from Islamists around the world, last week the Guardian newspaper could still run a headline quoting a Muslim Londoner: “These poor idiots have nothing to do with Islam.” Really? Nothing?

Death cult built on lies and deception.  You know they could use a good PR firm.

For crying out loud!

Hot meals the latest casualty in Afghanistan: Marines lose one hot meal a day as part of the U.S Army’s ‘draw-down’ measures

  • Soldiers at Camp Leatherneck have lost the midnight rations, or ‘midrats’, where troops beginning a shift and others ending theirs come together for a hot meal
  • Soldier’s families say it’s bad for morale and camaraderie among troops and others suggest the U.S. is rationing due to financial problems at home

OK, if you can’t feed them, then bring them home…NOW.

Lets put Barry on MRE’s…

Damn over-achiever.

Wyoming teen who built reactor ousted from science fair on technicality

Good Grief! What’s he got to build to impress some people?

Actually I think his disqualification has more to do with some peoples visceral hate and unreasoned fear of anything related to Nuclear Power.

Update: Stevens did have an autopsy, Maybe.

Officials instructed Benghazi hospital to list Stevens as “John Doe”

U.S. officials gave instructions for Benghazi Medical Center to use a “John Doe” pseudonym on the death certificate of Ambassador Christopher Stevens after he died of asphyxiation in the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attacks on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya. That’s according to a U.S. official speaking on condition of anonymity because the official isn’t authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

According to the official, U.S. officials aren’t certain to this day whether Stevens was still alive when local Libyans made cell phone video recordings of his body being carried or dragged from the U.S. mission, possibly by looters.

On Friday, Sept. 14, the victims’ bodies arrived in the U.S. at Andrews Air Force base for a ceremony. Stevens’ body was then taken to an FBI facility in Dover, Del., for an autopsy which revealed he died of asphyxia, presumably from smoke inhalation. Officials found no internal damage, no indication of assault and no mistreatment of his body. Stevens was then transported to a funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 15 and cremated, at his family’s request.

Christopher-Stevens-300x284

O.K.   That’s what we have been waiting for!  It’s almost nine months late but that’s good enough for “government” work.

Except…

First, I still tend to trust the FBI on most things (strange for my readers to hear and strange to say), especially when it’s coming from the professionals at their job far from the politicos appointed by this WH.  If two or three weeks after the Benghazi attack the administration had released this report, I and a lot of others would have been satisfied, would have accepted it. Hell, two months would have better,  that’s within the range of normal governmental Snafu. But nine months after the attack, that’s eight months pass the “sell-by” date for most skeptics of this administration.  So the timing is off, that is one problem.

Second, it isn’t really released? Is it?  An anonymous U.S. Official who is not speaking officially. (?) Not really releasing the report is it?  This should have been released in a public press conference on the steps of the FBI building in the full light of day by the chief forensic pathologist with the Director of the FBI standing beside him (or behind, take your pick).  This “anonymous U.S. Official who is not speaking officially” crap situation rather smells. Trail balloon maybe?  This smacks more of a back alley whore flashing the john a glimpse of her boobies.

One thing though, “possibly by looters“, may be the end of the meme of the pro-American mob trying to “rescue” their little, well-liked ambassador buddy.

So in conclusion, when is some news organization going to file a “Freedom of Information” demand for the Stevens Autopsy? If the FBI performed the autopsy it’s a public record. It cannot by itself contain any sensitive information, so release it. Officially. You know, just like we were still a free country.

Same old, same old. Democratic prosecutor withheld (destroyed) evidence.

Lawyer: Zimmerman prosecutor withheld evidence

Associated Press

A court employee who retrieved photos and deleted text messages from Trayvon Martin’s cellphone has been placed on administrative leave after an attorney testified that prosecutors didn’t properly turn over the evidence to the defense, an attorney said Wednesday.

Former prosecutor Wesley White said he was ethically obligated to reveal that Fourth Judicial Circuit Information Technology Director Ben Kruidbos retrieved the data that weren’t turned over.

White said the photos Kruidbos retrieved were of a hand holding a gun and one depicted drugs. The content of the text messages wasn’t specified.

“I’m an officer of the court and I’m obliged to inform the court of any misconduct or any potential misconduct coming before the court. Whether it’s by the defense or prosecution,” White said.

The defense released photos of a gun, marijuana plant and Martin’s text messages publicly, saying that if prosecutors planned to paint Zimmerman as the aggressor and Martin as the innocent bystander, they wanted the information to defend him. Attorneys won’t be able to mention the teen’s drug use, suspension from school and past fighting during opening statements at the trial, Nelson ruled Tuesday.

O’Mara reported on the defense team’s website Wednesday that Zimmerman’s defense fund had less than $5,000 left. The fund had raised almost $315,000 by January.

His attorneys are calculating that Zimmerman needs another $120,000 to put on a good defense, or even another $75,000 to give him a fighting chance.

How many people can’t raise almost half a million dollars to defend themselves? Don’t tell me that Mr. Zimmerman hasn’t already been punished.

This started as an clear case of politically motivated persecution and is fast becoming a sickening example of the menace of political correctness and Democrat corruption. And above all, a miscarriage of justice.

But I’ll keep following it;

Wait for it.

Put it to bed

This will do wonders for recruitment…

Krauthammer: Obama Was Plotting Benghazi Cover Story Before Last Two Americans Were Dead (Video)

I think there is a bigger story here that will in time come out. The biggest scandal of all, the biggest question is what was the president doing in those eight hours. He had a routine meeting at five o’clock. He never after during the eight hours when our guys have their lives in danger, he never called the Secretary of Defense, he never calls the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, he never called the CIA Director, Who does he call? But five hours in he calls the Secretary of State. And after the phone call she releases a statement essentially about the video and how we denounce any intolerance. It looks as if the only phone call is to construct a cover story at a time when the last two Americans who died were still alive and fighting for their lives. There’s the scandal and that has to be uncovered.”

You are not paranoid if they really are out to get you.

Now The Gibson Guitar Raids Make Sense

The inexplicable raid nearly two years ago on a guitar maker for using allegedly illegal wood that its competitors also used was another targeting by this administration of its political enemies….

Interestingly, one of Gibson’s leading competitors is C.F. Martin & Co. According to C.F. Martin’s catalog, several of their guitars contain “East Indian Rosewood,” which is the exact same wood in at least 10 of Gibson’s guitars. So why were they not also raided and their inventory of foreign wood seized?…

Grossly underreported at the time was the fact that Gibson’s chief executive, Henry Juszkiewicz, contributed to Republican politicians. Recent donations have included $2,000 to Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., and $1,500 to Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn.

By contrast, Chris Martin IV, the Martin & Co. CEO, is a long-time Democratic supporter, with $35,400 in contributions to Democratic candidates and the Democratic National Committee over the past couple of election cycles….

The Gibson Guitar raid, the IRS intimidation of Tea Party groups and the fraudulently obtained warrant naming Fox News reporter James Rosen as an “aider, abettor, co-conspirator” in stealing government secrets are but a few examples of the abuse of power by the Obama administration to intimidate those on its enemies list.

Your not paranoid if they really are out to get you.

100,000 Christians die for faith every year: Vatican

A top Vatican official has said around 100,000 Christians are killed every year for reasons linked to their faith and pointed to the Middle East, Africa and Asia as the biggest problem areas. Tomasi said Christians were also forced to leave their homes and see their churches destroyed in some parts of the world, and were often subjected to rapes, kidnappings and discrimination.
The Vatican official made particular reference to the kidnapping of two Orthodox bishops near Aleppo in Syria last month.

CHRISTIANITY: THE MOST PERSECUTED WORLD FAITH

AT THE START OF the 21st century, the words of Christ prophesying the persecution of his followers ring as clearly as ever — they’re accuracy echoed in a variety of international reports showing Christians to be the most persecuted faith group in the modern world.
Beheadings, torture, rape, kidnappings, mass killings, forced starvation, imprisonment and even crucifixions attest that the persecution of Christians did not end at the foot of the cross or the closed gates of the Roman Coliseum. Last year alone, sources indicate that an estimated 165, 000 Christians died because of religious or ethnic clashes.
When taken together, the reports — from organisations such as Aid to the Church in Need (ACN), the World Evangelical Fellowship (WEF), Human Rights Without Frontiers (HRWF), Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) and Amnesty International (AI) — open a window on Christian persecution in all parts of the world.

Most of the persecution against Christians today is occurring in predominately Muslim populated countries, including Sudan, where the Islamic government is waging a decade-old war against Christians in the south. It is a battle that has seen over 2 million people killed, the majority of them Christians, and another 14 million displaced.

So? Call a Crusade!!!getting_it_right

This fits the title of the post too.

Vote fraud alert: One out of five registered Ohio voters is bogus

Vote fraud is no big deal, right?  It hardly ever happens.  It’s so rare that it’s not even worth discussing.  Anyone who claims to take the integrity of our ballots seriously is cynically exploiting phantom fears for the purpose of suppressing the Democrat-loving minority vote.

To keep that silly narrative alive, it’s important not to read the Sunday edition of the Columbus Dispatch, in which readers were informed that “more than one out of every five registered Ohio voters is probably ineligible to vote.”

Furthermore, “in two counties, the number of registered voters actually exceeds the voting age population: Northwestern Ohio’s Wood County shows 109 registered voters for every 100 eligible, while in Lawrence County along the Ohio River it’s a mere 104 registered per 100 eligible.”

31 more counties report over 90 percent voter registration, which is a good 20 percent higher than the national average.  The Buckeye State sure is civic-minded!  Well, except that 1.6 million of the 7.8 million registered voters in the state haven’t voted in at least four years.
