Make it hurt.

Student, 20, sues for $40MILLION after being hauled from her car at gunpoint and arrested for buying beer underage when she only bought WATER

A University of Virginia student who was arrested by Alcoholic Beverage Control agents who wrongly believed she’d illegally bought beer when in fact she only had bottled water is seeking $40 million in a lawsuit filed Tuesday. Elizabeth K. Daly, 21, pictured in her tearful mugshot after the incident, alleges malicious prosecution, six counts of assault and battery and failure to appropriately train ABC agents. Daly was later cleared when it emerged she was only buying La Croix sparkling water, pictured bottom right from the Harris Teeter supermarket in Charlottesville, pictured bottom left.

There’s a jury I’d like to be on,  start looking for beachfront property darling.   What the hell were “Alcoholic Beverage Control ”  agents doing with F’king Guns???  Over the top, egregious behavior by the state should and must hurt like hell or this crap will never stop.   The next time an innocent could be killed.

Isn’t it funny that the same people resist the idea of armed security at K-12 schools?

In November, the ABC admitted that the agents violated department policy during the arrest.

The agency said corrective measures against the agents had been taken but declined to specific steps were taken, as policy prohibits the release of individual personnel information and disciplinary proceeding results.

Right,  pull my finger.

Coyote hits the nail on the head.

Baptist and Bootlegger

I can’t think of a better illustration of the “bootlegger and Baptist” coalition supporting prohibition than the case of California state senator Leland Yee.  By day, he was one of the most outspoken advocates of gun control.  By night, he was apparently trafficking in illegal weapons.

Smuggling only earns high rents if the underlying goods are illegal.  Who ever heard of cucumber smugglers, or dealers in the illegal cat 5 cable trade?  Every time Leland Yee took another action to make guns harder to own in California, he not only got pats on the back from gun control “baptists” on the Left, but he also made his criminal friends more money.

As Sheldon Cooper would say, “Bazingga“.

Science. Not Hype.

A 30% increase in autism in two years? Oh, really?

logo

A good part of the blame for the appalling lack of scientific knowledge in this country falls squarely on the press. This is something we deal with constantly at ACSH: Headlines that not only don’t match the content of the subsequent article, but often contradict it.

It would be hard to find a better example than the breathless coverage of a CDC report which, on the surface, seems to suggest that there has been a huge increase in the prevalence of autism in the two year period 2010-2012. Continue reading

Hey Mom, read this.

My mother came in today and asked me if I had seen the story about the dangers or using gas stoves and cooking oil.   I asked her if she realized that for about 80,000 years mankind has been cooking with an open flame and various vegetable and animal fats?   And we are doing OK so far.    Then in return I asked her if there was anything on the local network news about the numerous Democrats arrested for a wide selection of crimes this week.    No, she hadn’t.   Well Mom, the fat’s in the fire all right.

California senator, alleged mobsters netted in American Hustle-style FBI sting

Call it “American Hustle” gone West. An elaborate FBI sting culminated this week after two undercover officers — who posed as East Coast Mafia members — helped take down 26 Californians, including an influential state senator with alleged ties to an Asian mob.

State Sen. Leland Yee, an outspoken Democrat who is a gun control and open government advocate, was arrested Wednesday on charges he conspired to traffic in firearms and traded favors in Sacramento for bribes. He was allegedly taking bribes from men who turned out to be FBI agents.

Yee, who is running for secretary of state and currently represents half of San Francisco, was being held on $500,000 bail after appearing handcuffed and shackled in federal court.

He was charged with six counts of depriving the public of honest services and one count of conspiracy to traffic in guns without a license. He’s also accused of trying to help an undercover agent obtain weapons from a Muslim rebel group.

In addition;

New York state assemblyman

The FBI raided Democratic New York Assemblyman William Scarborough’s Albany office Wednesday morning and also took papers from his office in Jamaica, Queens. The feds confronted him at 5:45 a.m. in a hotel room, where they seized his smartphone. FBI investigators asked Scarborough about per diem reimbursements received by state lawmakers.

“I’m innocent, but I understand the reality,” Scarborough told reporters at the state capitol Wednesday. “I don’t know what’s going to go on. I am going to talk to a lawyer, this is just stunning to me.”

Scarborough was first elected to the Assembly from a primarily Queens County district in 1994.

Mayor of Charlotte

FBI agents arrested Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon Wednesday for allegedly accepting bribes in exchange for “the use of his official position.”

Cannon allegedly accepted more than $48,000 in cash, airline tickets, a hotel room, and even an apartment from undercover FBI agents.

“In light of the charges that have been brought against me, it is my judgment that the pendency of these charges will create too much of a distraction for the business of the city to go forward smoothly and without interruption,” Cannon wrote in his resignation letter. “I regret that I have to take this action, but I believe that it is in the best interest of the city for me to do so.”

Cannon was elected to the City Council in 1993, served through 2005, and was elected again in 2009, serving as mayor pro tempore until his election to the mayoralty in 2013.

Rhode Island House Speaker

Rhode Island Speaker of the House Gordon Fox resigned his speakership and announced that he would not seek re-election after FBI agents, along with agents from the IRS, the U.S. attorney’s office, and state police, raided both his Providence, R.I. office and home Friday.

Fox did not disclose what the FBI was looking for. The search warrants and affidavits that allowed for the raid have been sealed by a court.

Fox was elected to the state legislature in 1992 and was elected speaker in 2010.

(Scuttlebutt is that Mr. Fox, a homosexual, was involved in sex with underage boys.    Apparently he was shocked to discover that is still illegal. )

Can we call him a Traitor NOW?

Obama to Kill Tomahawk, Hellfire Missile Programs

Cornerstone of U.S. Naval power eliminated under Obama budget

BY:
March 24, 2014 1:23 pm

President Barack Obama is seeking to abolish two highly successful missile programs that experts say have helped the U.S. Navy maintain military superiority for the past several decades.

The Tomahawk missile program—known as “the world’s most advanced cruise missile”—is set to be cut by $128 million under Obama’s fiscal year 2015 budget proposal and completely eliminated by fiscal year 2016, according to budget documents released by the Navy.

In addition to the monetary cuts to the program, the number of actual Tomahawk missiles acquired by the United States would drop significantly—from 196 last year to just 100 in 2015. The number will then drop to zero in 2016.

The Navy will also be forced to cancel its acquisition of the well-regarded and highly effective Hellfire missiles in 2015, according to Obama’s proposal.

If a single Democrat votes in Congress to pass this budget item as is then they should be decorating a limb on the same tree that the Kenyan, Communist, Traitor is swinging from.

This isn’t reducing America’s ability to project power around the Globe, this is leaving us without the means to defend ourselves.  Along with the purposed decommissioning of the A-10 (the Warcraft that destroyed Saddam’s Armour) this is striking from the hands of our protectors every weapon that they depend upon.  If Putin decides to take back all the old Soviet territory in Eastern Europe what is the US Military supposed to use to stop him?  Harsh Words as Pvt. Frost asked?

To be disarmed.

To be clear, the intention of this Presidential Budget is that by 2016 the US Armed Forces have Zero, nada, zip inventory of Tomahawk or Hellfire missiles in inventory.

I’m not an idiot, I know that a Presidential Budget isn’t written on stone, or prophesy or even given Obama’s current political troubles very likely to pass.   But it’s a frightening indication of his intentions and strikingly close to what Dinesh D’Souza warned about in his fabled documentary. (New film: America)  Is this another “bargaining point” in his struggles with Congress?   He drops this and gets another 100 billion for his lay-about brothers and sisters.   But what is incredible, what is hard to believe even now is that BHO would go on record with a unilateral dis-armament offer so sweeping, No scratch offer, he’s not even doing this to get something in return in international diplomacy.   (Unless it’s a dacha on the Black Sea from his Top)

For those of you with a short-term memory problem, at the beginning of King Barry’s reign, American was at the zenith of military supremacy around the world.   We could do anything.   Soon we will not dare send our ships and men outside our own borders.   We’re “social spending” ourselves into impotence, irrelevancy, and collapse.   When the Chinese come to collect on their overdue loans and want to take possession, the next president will have no choice but to hand them the keys.

(what I wrote here I thought better of, of posting it not of thinking it)

Update: Maggie’s Notebook has an updated and more comprehensive story on our missile arsenal shutdown/draw-down but even she had not been able to find any Admiral or General willing to comment.   What a climate of fear stalks the halls of the Pentagon.

Maleficent is Magnificent Angelina

She has been the best thing in so many movies…even when she didn’t take her clothes off.

Lately I haven’t been going to that many movies.

article-2573898-1C0EA48B00000578-498_634x844Magnificent Maleficent Angelina, I’m looking forward to this one.   Reportedly, they cast her real life daughter in one scene because the other child actresses were terrified of Angie in costume.  Her daughter just saw mommie.

May 30th.

Got back to photography today: The Kayak Launch Area Report.

So, where to begin.  Down the road to Weymouth Landing State Ramp, six weeks ago the ice was pretty bad.IMG_0295 Mid Winter

Today, O.K.   But I’m shocked at how fast this ramp, it’s stonework mainly, is deteriorating.  Big pieces have already fallen away.P1000087 First Day of Spring

Ramp is clear, the fisherman are out and the geese are returning.P1000086 telling tales of stripers P1000085 CG wingin it bA short drive east to Adams Park on the Back River, ice-free and ready for business. _DSC0007 Ready to go

_DSC0006 So when the rain is driven under the layers of plywood

Sign of a nasty winter, the rain, sleet and snow driven under the layers of plywood. Tough to repair.

We are on 3A, so head south a little further to Hingham Harbor.

Next stop was in Scituate, the Driftway boating ramp.    Also all clear of snow or ice. But not of unleashed dogs…and children._DSC0018 Driftway is ready

But the bad news is at the Brooks-Tilden Shipyard launching point by the bridge (Bridge St. in Norwell, Union Street in Marshfield).   The public car-top boat launching ramp is located off the parking area for the town park.  I’ve never seen any worse mess on the South Shore in my life.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

For an embarrassing comparison.  The other side of the river in Norwell.  This area is not open, town residents only.   Lets hope that the town officials in Marshfield don’t get the idea that closing their side of the river is necessary.

(I’d have liked to have brought some of that trash home to depose of, but Weymouth this year went from unlimited trash pickup to very limited. )

I was happy to progress on to the next launch site.   Very striking evidence of the harsh winter we had.

Down the shady cut, the way to the water is over ice, eight inches thick.  It can be done, but the last fifteen feet could be tricky carrying a boat.

This view from Brick Klin Lane is literally “A Million Dollar View”.  _DSC0037 NR valleyIn Hanover, Indian Head Drive is open for business.  But I wish someone with a chain saw would cut back that downed tree,  you launch and then duck!

Tale of two Blondes.

If you thought you knew the details of the Andrew Wakefield vaccine-autism scandal, think again.

We’re pretty sure that by now you’re at least somewhat familiar with the fraudulent (and supremely damaging) “research” done (made up, really) by Andrew Wakefield — the former physician whose license was revoked in the UK — which claimed there was a link between a children’s vaccine and autism. It is impossible to calculate the number of illnesses and preventable deaths caused by this sordid affair, but it must be enormous. Even today—long after the fraud was thoroughly exposed—some people still cling to their beliefs that vaccines cause autism.

Few people know this story better than Michael Shaw, who not only has the story down cold, but has provided us with what is arguably the best source to provide a clear,  in-depth assessment of the investigation of this research to the eventual retraction of the Wakefield paper—the actual three-part investigative report written by Brian Deer, a reporter for The Sunday Times of London, who won the British equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize (twice) for his work in this area.

Shaw, who runs his own blog Shaw’s EcoLogic, and is also a regular contributor to the enormously popular HealthNewsDigest, has written about this scandal before. He does not mince words.

He says, “For all the great work that Brian Deer did on the Wakefield matter, even he did not portray this as the absolute disaster that it is.  Public health has been set back decades, if the entire notion of vaccination–uncontested since Edward Jenner’s work of the late 18th century–is being subject to a constant stream of absurd attacks.  Josef Mengele would be so proud.  Wakefield and Horton belong in prison.

We wish he would tell us how he really feels.

We highly recommend you read the full text of Deer’s investigation, presented in three parts.  can be found here.   It will make you sick.

It is a wonder to me that so many people still believe that vaccines are harmful, especially to children. More, they believe it is a deliberate plot.   The same soda heads that accept from their dear leader that mercury in lightbulbs (and dangerous levels of UV radiation) are wonderful, the wave of the future and mandated (of course).  They can turn around and gasp in horror at microscopic levels of mercury compounds used to stabilize vaccines and enable the mixing of multiple strains of anti-viral shots together safely.

Blonde Menace

To this day, the post on this blog receiving the highest attention and it’s attached images getting the closest scrutiny is Ah Shit! which features erotic pictures of the dumbest blonde on the face on the earth, Jenny McCarthy.

My blonde pleasure person is the (only half-baked) trollop, Pamela Anderson.   Ms. Anderson’s delusion involves animals and animal rights.  And in my book stripping to the skin to persuade me to stop eating meat (fat chance) is greatly preferable to Ms. McCarthy shrieking on the talk shows about things Ms. McCarthy does not understand and convincing her even stupider fans to not vaccinate their children. The latter results in dead and crippled children.

So let’s hear it for Pamela!
