Heidi is Smiley

Downside of the “Patriot Act”.

My mother is an diagnosed early stage Alzheimer case.  For the last ten years she has been my aunts Authorized Representative and received her Federal SSSI funds for providing Aunt Mary with a place to live, food and clothing.  Except that for the last five years as my mother declined in health and competency, either Mary or both of them have been living here with me.

Recently a crisis has developed, although repeatedly told that it was important to file change of address notices with insurance, Federal and State agencies it became obvious that few of the above were notified.  Though told that she needed to file a Change of Address with the Post Office in her old town,  she never did so.  Only a Forwarding of Mail was submitted.  That expired.  Mandatory State and Federal forms were not received and returned.  And finally, my Aunts benefits were suspended.   As this became known to me, it was clear that my turn at the wheel was here.

I visited the Social Security office and was assisted by a very helpful and sympathetic gentleman who helped reverse Mary’s official “Demise”.  A visit to the State of Massachusetts DMV to obtain a Mass-ID was less so.  My dear, sweet Aunt has been cognitively limited since a home-birth, (in the thirties), to a dirt-poor Irish family.  The DMV bitch clerk we drew (after talking to Aunt Mary) had the gall to tell us that she needed a recent photo ID.  Any recent High School or College Photo ID would do.  Mary irons clothes, sweeps, and collects the trash.  About all the Catholic Nuns taught her over seven decades ago.  Which is obvious.   No Mass-ID.

So after a new paper check arrived with Mary’s back benefits, the next step was to set up a Joint Checking and deposit it.  Armed with a Birth Certificate, a form from the Social Security Administration addressed to Mary and with our new mailing address, the check and me.  We went to the bank, another helpful person tried to open an account and deposit the check.   Nah!  NFW (as they say on the Internet).   The Patriot Act prohibits opening bank accounts without all the required Federal ID.   Driver’s license? Nah.  Mass-ID? Nah! College, voting, High School, or Company Photo ID?  Pleasse!   Next step? Get a passport.  Which at this point is the easiest Photo ID to acquire (???!!!).

That’s the saga to date.   Next, Mary and I went for pizza! (I planned on a beer)

At the local  and friendly pub, our favorite bartender (Heidi) engaged Mary in conversation and served her a non-alcoholic beverage, Me, I had a beer. 1344428582-GGaR_guestby_Carter_WestoverThen we ordered a Pub Pizza, of which Mary ate most.  She watched her favorite game show on the bar’s flat screen.  And we left.

As I was getting her into the car, Mary remarked about Heidi, “She’s so very Smiley!”   Yes, she is, and so is Aunt Mary.  So the struggle continues,  but Mary likes getting out so she doesn’t complain. smiley

US troops arrive in Poland for exercises across Eastern Europe amid Ukraine crisis

U.S. Army paratroopers are arriving in Poland on Wednesday as part of a wave of U.S. troops heading to shore up America’s Eastern European allies in the face of Russian meddling in Ukraine.

Dutch scramble jets after Russian bombers approach

AMSTERDAM (AP) — The Dutch defense department says several NATO member countries scrambled jets Wednesday afternoon after a pair of Russian bomber planes approached their airspace over the North Sea.

RAF Jet Chases Russian Planes Away From UK

Two planes are turned back as they approach Scotland, as the Royal Navy “keeps an eye” on a Russian warship’s movements.

Is it possible that the European countries are so incredibly stupid as to do it again?

Reblogged from Theo: 3D Printed Gun

3D Printed Guns (Documentary)

Cody R Wilson has figured out how to print a semi-automatic rifle from the comfort of his own home. Now he’s putting all the information online so that others will join him.

I’m posting this in the earnest hope that it will cause some liberal’s head to explode.   But in a nice way, not. bangHeadAgainstWallThe narration is mostly the lefty producer of the video and commentary (almost) equally shared between Cody and Nick, a New York Times writer. (can you say, light in the loafers)

The only error, the US didn’t switch sides. Barry Soetoe did.

Benghazi attack could have been prevented if US hadn’t ‘switched sides in the War on Terror’ and allowed $500 MILLION of weapons to reach al-Qaeda militants, reveals damning report

  • Citizens Committee on Benghazi claims the US government allowed arms to flow to al-Qaeda-linked militants who opposed Muammar Gaddafi
  • Their rise to power, the group says, led to the Benghazi attack in 2012
  • The group claims the strongman Gaddafi offered to abdicate his presidency, but the US refused to broker his peaceful exit
  • The commission, part of the center-right Accuracy In Media group, concluded that the Benghazi attack was a failed kidnapping plot
  • US Ambassador Chris Stevens was to be captured and traded for ‘blind sheikh’ Omar Abdel-Rahman, who hatched the 1993 WTC bombing plot

By DAVID MARTOSKO, U.S. POLITICAL EDITOR

Do not! Do not hold your breath waiting for the US press to report this story.

Does the GOP want to be reformed?

IMG_0039-1

No, I believe that they do not.   The headlines on Fox News that GOP party leadership wants to raise funds to Destroy the Tea Party Groups, true or a donkey’s ploy?   WSJ story on Ted Cruz taking the Congressional elevator and no one will talk to him, not even his own party.  Petty or Party?

I consider myself a supporter of the Tea Party, as I have related my long (broken-legged) trek to the first Boston Tea Party Rally.   Reform of the Republican’s and the replacement of the RHINO’s is what is needed and a third party an anathema as a weak third party can only hand future elections to the Democrats (the hopeless, the treasonous, the larcenous).

BUT, if the GOP has decided to attack the reformers and any true conservatives then sadly we may need to replace reform with replacement.  As the early Tea Party rallies had to rebuff the efforts of certain two-faced Congressmen who thought that they had a right to be on the podium especially those with a (R).  They got hooted down, we thought they would realize that the world was changing and start learning.  It appears not.

If it must be War waged against both the Democrat and the Republican parties by the fed up American middle-class, conservatives and taxpayers then that’s preferable to “Business as Usual”.   But it’s not the way I hoped things would go…    Things have to change.

When you hear Chicago’s Pol touting new low crime stats, ask yourself…

The Truth About Chicago’s Crime Rates

The city’s drop in crime has been nothing short of miraculous. Here’s what’s behind the unbelievable numbers.

Meanwhile, the see-no-evil, hear-no-evil pols on Chicago’s City Council have mostly accepted the police department’s crime numbers at face value. So have most in the media. You can hardly turn on the news without hearing McCarthy or Mayor Rahm Emanuel proclaiming unquestioned: Murders down 18 percent in 2013! Overall crime down 23 percent! Twelve thousand fewer crime victims! “These days, everything is about media and public opinion,” says one longtime officer. “If a number makes people feel safe, then why not give it to them?”

Human beings who have been murdered are reclassified as death investigations, downgraded to more minor crimes, or even closed as noncriminal incidents.  For Political Reasons.

If you want proof of the police department’s obsession with crime statistics, look no further than the last few days of 2012. On the night of December 27, a 40-year-old alleged gang member named Nathaniel Jackson was shot in the head and killed in Austin. The next morning, newscasters proclaimed that Chicago’s murder toll for the year had hit 500—a grim milestone last reached in 2008, during the Great Recession.

By lunchtime, the police department’s spinmeisters at 35th and Michigan had challenged the reports. The actual total, they said, was 499. A murder case earlier in the year had just been reclassified as a death investigation.

Critics howled. The bloggers behind Second City Cop declared: “It’s a miracle! The dead have risen!!!”

And then they register to vote.  Chicago, it’s that kind of town.

Revert to Type.

Two years later I look back at that day before the Presidential Election of 2012, (or the day this Administration became The Regime) now we know there was so much more going on then we realized. Benghazi was only the tip of the iceberg. That election could have been won (Romney probably did win, if angels had counted the ballots); but there was the illegal IRS interference with Conservative political groups, the flagrant vote stealing in the key precincts in key states (the one Ohio poll worker stupid enough to go to jail only did so because she boasted on TV about her cheating and is already out, released by a corrupt Democrat judge.)
Obama’s popularity peaked with the election, almost two years later and he has reached the bottom of the polls and is digging himself deeper. Doesn’t matter of course, he’s run his last election. You have to give his handlers credit, perfect management. By fair means or foul, they pushed him up just high enough and let the vote stealers finish the job. Proving any of it means nothing now, after all who are you going to give your evidence to? Eric Holder?   Meanwhile the Democratic machine gears up to push the next empty suit dress chair.
As a recent post on another blog said, that election did something very dangerous. It destroyed our faith in the honesty and truthfulness of the fundamental institutions of American politics and government. Government agencies aren’t supposed to interfere on one side of a election, to favor one person or party over another even before the election is held. The IRS, the FBI, the Census Bureau, the Secretary of State and the Attorney General of the United States all did. And got caught, and then the Main Stream Media looked the other way.

What the Democrats, the Progressives and their cronies have forgot is something very dangerous and very important. When the people of a country can no longer trust their government and it’s institutions; the vote, their retirement, the political impartiality of public schools even the GD Federal Census. Then they act. Do you think that so many hundreds of men and women (some armed, most not) traveled so far over mountains and onto the empty plains because they just liked rancher Bundy or thought his grievance with the BLM was so important? Or were they angry, frustrated and hungry for the chance to do something, if necessary something violent.
We who are here in the USA are the descendants of those who built this country over the course of centuries. Many of our antecedents were violent, greedy, prejudiced, hard working, God fearing men and women. The phrase “Revert to type” means to resume characteristics that were thought to have disappeared,  I can feel myself reverting to type now. But I can’t tell if I’m going with the Irish Brawlers whose surname means “Strong in Battle”, or something else. But if the put upon working class in this country have actually given up on this government and most of it’s leaders and if enough of us “Revert to Type“. It’s going to get ugly.

Quote of the Year (to date) inside The Post of the year.

The Founding Fathers wouldn’t have put up with any of this shit. The Founders started blowing people’s heads off because the government put a tax on their breakfast beverage… and it wasn’t even coffee. Can you imagine how batshit those guys would have been on a double espresso?

Dennis Miller

Say Amen everybody!

The Pig Trap

Wheeler got quiet for a few moments, and then he said something that I will never, ever forget.

“These people are playing with matches… I don’t think they understand the scope and scale of the wildfire they are flirting with. They are fucking around with a civil war that could last a decade and cause millions of deaths… and the sad truth is that 95% of the problems we have in this country could be solved tomorrow, by noon… simply by dragging 100 people out in the street and shooting them in the fucking head.”

And lemme tell ya, he had the list… he rattled off 25 or 30 names of well-known, prominent politicians, mostly Democrats, but a few Republicans, several members of the current Cabinet, a couple of Obama’s “czars”, a couple of figures from the Bush administration and the Republican establishment, several media company executives and on-camera newscasters, reporters, and pundits, a couple of people who are active in leftist politics but not in elected office… he had obviously thought about this to some degree already.

I was struck by his cold, detached, matter-of-fact tone. I said, “Dude… that’s more French Revolution than American Revolution. Do you really think that is the way to go?”

Wheeler said, “I believe in efficiency and economy of action. You wouldn’t trade one hundred of those criminal bastards for ten million of your fellow Americans?”

I don’t remember if I actually answered out loud, but in my my head, the answer was, “Yeah, I probably would…”

I would too,   and you?

If you still think that the government can do ANYTHING better than private citizens.

With no Iraq-Afghan memorial, Vietnam vets to honor 7,000 dead in first-ever roll call

Years away from even being allowed to have a war memorial, the dead from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars will be honored by their fellow Vietnam veterans Memorial Day weekend at The Wall, where the first-ever reading of the names of all the post-9/11 heroes will take place.

Here’s the ironic part…

The reading of the post-9/11 fallen is being sponsored by a $50,000 donations from Billy Joe “Red” McCombs, founder of the Red McCombs Automotive Group in San Antonio, Texas.

Compare that to this embarrassment…

Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Commission’s  total failure after five years to do anything but spend donated money.

All this has left EMC something of a piece of jetsam in a sea of government spending: an orphan too obscure to catch the attention of auditors but too small and dysfunctional to get anything done.

In the meantime, the commission is simply burning through the remainder of the $64 million it’s been appropriated since 2009. The monument’s projected final cost is about $150 million, but every year of delay will add at least $6 million.

How the hell did all those Democrats get on the commission’s board? I guess they smelled money.

Are the energy efficient lights going dark all over Europe?

Almost exactly one hundred years later, in almost exactly the same place.

EDWARD LUCAS: I hope I’m wrong but historians may look back and say this was the start of World War III

  • ‘Vladimir Putin is striking at the heart of the West’
  • ‘We can chose to surrender any responsibility we have to protect Ukraine and the Baltic states’
  • ‘Or we can mount a last-ditch attempt to deter Russia from furthering its imperial ambitions’
  • ‘If we choose to resist Putin, we will risk a terrifying miltary escalation’
  • ‘I do not think it an exaggeration to say this could bring us to the brink of nuclear war

Deep in the flat and featureless landscape of eastern Ukraine, it is all too possible that the outline of World War III is taking shape.

Whipped up by the Kremlin propaganda machine and led by Russian military intelligence, armed men are erecting road blocks, storming police stations and ripping down the country’s flag.

They are demolishing not just their own country — bankrupt, ill-run and beleaguered — but also the post-war order that has kept most of Europe and us, here in Britain, safe and free for decades.
Vladimir Putin is striking at the heart of the West.

ukraine moving to bordersWhat a time to have a lightweight narcissist dodging his responsibilities as the Leader of the Free World.   Back when Russia bit off a piece of Georgia, George Bush must have thought that it is a good thing that the mid-east wars are winding down and the full weight of the American War Machine will be available to fore-check Vlad.

And what a magnificent war machine it was.    Has anyone at any time in history ever thrown away a more well designed and expensive tool?
