Wall Street Journal

Had to cancel the WSJ.  It’s a little expensive but that wasn’t the problem.  Reading all the weeks papers took up to much time but that wasn’t the problem.  Got a real long trek from the house to the street each week with the yellow recycle barrel, and that wasn’t a problem but getting closer to it.

road to house under that snow

Imagine a rolled up newspaper somewhere in the first ten feet under two feet of snow.

This is the problem.

All of a sudden, the delivery person for the WSJ has begun ‘tossing’ the paper onto the (unpaved) driveway private road leading to the house.  And that can’t happen, especially in the winter since a rolled up newspaper concealed under the snow can jam a snowblower in the performance of it’s duty.

In my correspondence with the robot ‘intelligence’  running customer service for Dow Jones; I’ve been unable to get that concept across.

Our service standard is to deliver to driveways when possible. The standard varies for multi-unit buildings, depending on carrier access to the building.

So what about roads?  A 350 foot, unpaved road that services two houses and a total of three buildings.  Is that not more a private road than a simple driveway?  And a jammed snow-thrower would be four hundred feet from it’s garage if it became disabled.

Pity the delivery service for the WSJ are such robotic dickheads.  Cancel.

Pity, it is the best newspaper in the nation. And this must be the worst, most boring post I’ve ever put up on this blog.    Have to add something.img_7462 14-08-29-091 tumblr_n6ydas3YzE1rwxhnlo1_500 picdump-14-10-10-161Better.

Ebola nurse, reemergence of the disease? update!

Ebola nurse

A British nurse who was apparently cured of Ebola earlier this year is now in a critical condition, doctors have said, with experts expressing astonishment at the deterioration of her condition.

Pauline Cafferkey was admitted to the specialist treatment isolation unit at Royal Free Hospital in London on 9 October. She had been treated for Ebola at the same hospital earlier this year, and was discharged in good health in January.

Doctors have said she is suffering an “unusual late complication” of her previous infection. Ebola virus can linger for months in survivors without causing serious ill effects or infection risk and  is also known to cause long-term health problems in many patients.

Little clear information, probably due to privacy laws; but implication is that this is a reemergence of the Ebola virus.   In Scotland.  It’s becoming clear that the reasons that researchers couldn’t identify the ‘host animal’ for Ebola for so many decades is that it could be us.  Human beings.  Now we wait for ‘secondary’ infections to crop up in countries in Europe and North America.  All thanks to ‘brilliant’ leadership by the EU and Obama.

Unlucky winners: Illinois lottery halts payouts of over $600 over state budget deadlock

State officials announced Wednesday that winners who are due to receive more than $600 won’t get their money until the state’s ongoing budget impasse is resolved. Players who win up to $600 can still collect their winnings at local retailers.

In a statement, the Illinois Lottery said that its account for writing out checks to winners would be exhausted as of Thursday, and the agency does not have the legal authority to replenish its own funds. According to the Chicago Tribune, officials say the legislature must authorize the state comptroller to release the funds.

Despite the payment delay, lottery officials have continued selling tickets.

And the idiots in Chicago will still vote for the same crooks, again and again and again.

Mob gambling will continue to do very well here; they don’t tax the winnings, they don’t refuse to pay and Tony ‘Broken Nose’ will cheerfully and safely walk grannie home with her winnings.

NO ONE will be going to jail for this, believe that.

In the same vein; researchers who commit fraud by  ‘cooking’ the data for climate studies and then form a conspiracy by colluding with other researchers to hide the truth and block publication by any scientist not in on the ‘plan’.   Will not be jailed.

Cops who willfully discharge their weapon and injure cilivans due to carelessness or (as in Columbus Ohio this week; officer shot a 4 year old in the leg) callous indifference to the possible result of discharging their weapon near innocents.  Will not be charged, will not be jailed.   (See Puppycide)

Election officials who commit or abet voter fraud (sometimes you think that justice is done but you would be wrong…) as long as it supports the ‘right’ party.  Will not be jailed.

Using the power of their office to benefit their friends and hurt their opponents, ‘Crony Capitalism’.  Will not be reported by the MSM, will not be charged. Will not be jailed.

When this becomes the ‘norm’ then we no longer live in a nation governed by the rule of law.  So when will we do something about it?  our_forefathers_would_be_shooting_by_now_womens_t

Walking Dead, season six.

I avoided the show the first two seasons, when I did finally watch it I was so caught up on it that I went out and bought the available seasons on DVD and binge watched them all.

NEW YORK (AP) — A premiere Friday for the sixth season of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” at Madison Square Garden was so big and orchestrated, its stars attended a rehearsal that afternoon to prepare.

The event, which awarded fans with tickets via giveaways and sweepstakes, screened the season premiere and then held a panel with 18 cast members.

“It’s a giant arena with 18,000 seats and Led Zeppelin’s played here, I think Muhammad Ali fought here, so it’s really a special venue,” actor Austin Nichols said. “I’m honored to be here.”

The red carpet itself was moved inside at the last minute due to rain and wind, but that didn’t keep away the fans, many who dressed as zombies, or “walkers,” as they’re called on the series.

It’s on Netflix so if you are just starting to watch it you can catch up;  necessary, since there are so many characters and they loop back to old seasons to show how some things were started.    There are a lot of great characters and actors that have fallen along the way.  Almost no one is safe in this story.

I sent the first season to my friend with the CDC due to the fate of the CDC in the shows storyline, I don’t think he ever watched it.  The NRA has also taken notice of the zombie menace.

Zombie Industries sells $90 bleeding zombie targets. The human-scale targets can take thousands of rounds, and come in terrorist, Nazi, alien and zombie kangaroo varieties.

“The zombie is America’s folk monster,” said Roger Davis Jr., president of the San Diego-based company. “For myself as someone in his mid-30s — or even people in their 20s or 40s who grew up playing video games, it’s just a good time. A lot of the media don’t cover the fun-time aspect of the shooting sports industry.”

The best seller? “Probably the clown. People really seem to hate clowns.”

I wonder if Bob Hope is listed as an associate producer on any Zombie themed film or TV show?

Winter means Heavy Metal

crwiz151006I’m awaiting delivery of a new snow thrower, an Ariens.  No more Mickey Mouse shit for me.  In September I can have my pick of models and features,  no waiting till the last minute and buying whatever is still left over.

Official 2016 Winter Outlook from the Farmers’ Almanac

According to the Farmers’ Almanac, the winter of 2015–2016 is looking like a repeat of last winter, at least in terms of temperatures with unseasonably cold conditions over the Atlantic Seaboard, eastern portions of the Great Lakes, and the lower peninsula of Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, most of the Tennessee and Mississippi Valley, as well as much of the Gulf Coast.

New Englanders will once again experience a very frigid (shivery) winter (Déjà vu).

Over the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic States, the winter will be stormy with a good amount of snow. We are “red-flagging” the second week of January and the second week of February for possible heavy winter weather with a long, drawn out spell of stormy weather extending through much of the first half of March.2016-can-weather-map

Marconi Beach in Wellfleet

October 2, 2015; 4:04 PM ET

While Hurricane Joaquin is no longer expected to make landfall in the United States, coastal flooding, gusty winds and rounds of rain will occur in part of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

Making it a lovely day to drive to Cape Cod and Marconi Beach in Wellfleet MA.   After going all that way I left the Nikon in the trunk, so much wind driven rain I couldn’t risk it.

It also meant that I had a lovely time with my handkerchief trying to keep the lens on the expendable Cannon pocket digital clear (clearish?).

MarconiIMG_0676 MarconiIMG_0677 MarconiIMG_0678 MarconiIMG_0680 MarconiIMG_0683 MarconiIMG_0684All Cape Cod is a sand dune and the Ocean will win some day.

Home Marconi beach IMG_0679 Home Marconi beach IMG_0682 Home Marconi beach IMG_0681This guy was brooding on the side of the walkway and didn’t move, coming or going.

Go away, I'm a turtle.

Go away, I’m a turtle.

Beats my first choice, “I just flew in from the coast and are my arms tired”.

Smoking Gun?

13 Dead In Shooting At Oregon Community College

I have and still maintain that no information you hear on the National News is to be believed and that that truth will come out in bits and pieces over the passage of time, several days at least.

However…

Kortney Moore told The News-Review that she was in Snyder Hall when her teacher got shot in the head. The 18-year-old student said the gunman told people to get down on the ground. He then started to ask people to stand up to state their religion and then started shooting, according to Moore. She said she was lying on the ground with people who were shot.

That sound like the Islamist killers in Paris? In the Kenyan Mall?   Who asks about the victims religion before their murder?

Yup, another Mormon terrorist attack!

Oh! Almost forgot, the College was another “Gun-Free Zone”.   That’s working out great, isn’t it?

Organic reasoning

20 Reasons Not To Feed Your Family Organic

Recently, Mommy-bloggers paid by the organic industry have been hitting the scientific and corporate communities quite hard, with fear campaigns and ‘if you love your children’ guilt trips. Even Hollywood stars are reading from the “Organic is what good mothers do” script.

Ordinarily, eco-religious feel-good pulp from the privileged classes is better left ignored … until mainstream media pick up on them and the marketing managers at large food and restaurant corporations begin to bow to FoodBabeArmy email campaigns.

When I read a rather weak, low-ball piece in Mamavation (“Changing Lives One Mom at a Time”) called “The top 10 reasons to feed your family organic”, I thought: “This is nonsense (albeit, made to make people feel good about themselves).” It challenged me to come up with some reasons not to feed your family organic and to make the point further I used the pro-organic campaigner’s approach – like emotional blackmail, such as “Are you a good mother?”

Here are the Top 20 Reasons Not to Feed your Family Organic:

The way I feel about Organic produce is the same way I feel about the State Lottery.  If some other idiots (who can’t do math) want to waste their money on it then more power to them.   However though I can get along quite nicely without buying a Lottery ticket, I can’t live without food and all that I can grow for myself is tomatoes and herbs.   Unfortunately Organic Foods raise the prices of all produce at the market.  First; what reason does a conventional farmer have to shave their prices if some idiot is willing to pay a 200% markup for an organic head of lettuce?   Then there is the argument that Organic is a religion and their religion is being forced on me (and you).

7. Research shows no difference, at all, in taste, health or safety
This one gets to the organi-gurus the most, especially as taste is an emotional sentiment and thus based on purely anecdotal perception. But in blind taste-tests, time and time again, people could not spot the difference. As far as health and safety issues are concerned, people will believe what they want to believe, but any studies not done by the organic industry lobby simply cannot ground that in evidence. As religion, it is fine to believe that, but don’t call it science.

Also when dealing with SJW, Progressives or the Liberal Elites, anything that starts out as a ‘preferred’ option for the ‘Righteous Gian’s’ soon is made mandatory for everyone.

Over my dead body.
