Nolte: Brits Pay More to Charge Electric Car than to Gas Up
Per mile traveled, our British friends are now paying more to charge their electric cars than to gas them up.
Do stories come any more feel-good than this?
No, no, they do not:
Rapid charge points used by motorists topping up on long drives are now nearly £10 more expensive than filling up a car with petrol, the RAC revealed last week.
But research from the AA published on Monday finds that recharging an electric car even using a slow public charger at peak times can be more expensive, per mile driven afterwards, than for refuelling a comparable petrol car.
Jack Cousens, the AA’s head of roads policy and recharging, said: “While pump prices are falling, electricity prices are going in the other direction, but we are hopeful prices could tail off later this year.”
I’ll say it again, lithium batteries are the wrong technology for their EV ‘Revolution’!

Gerard Van der Leun

This morning my heart was torn apart when I read this…
This is the news no one wants to hear. It is my sad task to tell you that Gerard has cancer that has metastasized, and that treatment offers very little or nothing at this point. He has entered hospice care, his younger brother is with him, and other loved ones have gathered or are gathering to visit, as well as church members and pastor.
Perhaps you have read his work, or maybe you never heard of him.
While his blog is still up I suggest that you visit and browse through the vast treasure of his words.
Of more immediate import, here is the link to the comments page that followed the sad news shown above. The list of farewells, well wishers and tributes is steadily growing. It is a page well worth reading. If nothing else it shows that people with a strong belief in the love and the power of a merciful God are still around.
It has been especially hard for me since very recently I lost my best friend to cancer in very much the same way.
Criminals like the new ‘Discovery’ law. Not so much everyone else.
New York’s discovery laws are DESIGNED to let criminals go free
Of all the criminal-justice “reforms” the Legislature passed in 2019 — on bail, discovery and parole and Raise the Age — discovery “reform” was the most pernicious.
It imposed an impossible burden on prosecutors to turn over almost every imaginable piece of evidence to the defense in just 20-35 days, including:
- All police paperwork
- All body-worn cameras, even for officers not involved directly in the arrest
- All police-disciplinary records for every officer on scene
- Witness names and contact information, meaning if prosecutors worry a witness is put at risk or can be intimidated, they must petition a judge to redact that information.
- Criminal records of “potential witnesses”
- Expert-witness résumés and writings
- Disciplinary records of any possible police witnesses and any other material “related to the case.”
Prosecutors who have not completed all their discovery obligations are deemed not ready for trial. What could possibly go wrong?
The result? In 2021 over 80% of misdemeanor cases resulted in dismissals. It’s why Shoplifting is a growth industry.
Of more serious crimes, in 2020 35% of felony cases were dismissed. Over a third of the cases where citizens are assaulted, robbed or murdered the criminal goes free without a trial. New York City used to be justly called the ‘Safest Big City in America’. No more.
George Soros is laughing at this.
Wait till he brings the same thing to your state or city.
