The Country is NOT in the best of hands.

The building of new houses and malls and condos and other large construction projects are not coming back. And even if they did where would we find the workers trained to build them? Old carpenters have moved on to making a living at something other than construction. There’s not enough work to bring young ones onto the job and help them to master the skills needed. When a nation stops building it stops having the jobs that can train the next generation of builders.

Why are so few people out there worrying about the important things? As a kid I worked summers, at minimum wage, toting and fetching and scraping stickers off the window glass. That’s (if I remember correctly) a $1.60 minimum wage, and I was barely worth it. Today, in Massachusetts, the Minimum Wage is $8.00 a hour. And I believe at that rate the current procedure is to leave the damn stickers on the window for the homeowner or realtor to scrape off.

Once, in my youth, I was given the job of riding herd on a bunch of day workers clearing out a warehouse. Talk about herding cats. Out of ten, maybe two were asked back the next day. At $8.00, I’d have ended up taking a week doing it by myself. Point is, I spent about six months working at minimum wage, got a raise and never looked back. So today, how does anyone get started acquiring job skills when there so few jobs that experienced men take a fifty or sixty percent cut in pay at least. And the less experienced men with a work history will do those entry level jobs for not much more than minimum.

OK, its official. Next to this guy we are all slackers.

Operation Counterweight, the electoral strategy for the rest of us

Here is the law, Third Party Candidates are out, Out, OUT!!!

That’s how you put Barry back in for a nation killing second term. If Rommey is the best we are going to get… UGH! Then putting good men in Congress, Tea Party men, real Conservatives are the best use of our time and money. It’s in Congress that we have to start the long job of dismantling the infrastructure of greed and socialism. All those bills “too important to read”, any bill over one hundred pages, must go. And that work will be in Congress.

Kill that puppy, Ideology and debt run amok.

On Idiot Repug Pundits Running Amuck

Thank God the writer (at the above link) survived his brush with mortality and is still pumping out pieces like that.   This is on a subject I totally agree with and have been screaming about since 2008, letting the (Goddamn) media and their fellow travelers pick the Republican candidate… again.

In the last fifty years, the most illuminating comments from these “debates” didn’t come from one the trap questions a media moderator sprung. But when a candidate went off script, as when Ronald Reagan barked back, “.. that he had paid for his microphone“.

What would be a more useful exercise for picking our next leader than staged debates would be putting a puppy and a hammer in front of every candidate. Think Iran wants to deal with a American President that they watched beat a puppy to death?   Buy the candidates a deck of cards and only let the candidates advance to the next primary  that can make money running a game of three-card-Monty on the streets of New York City.  That would show us which man should negotiate with the EU.

Why do we act as if we are looking for the next Chamber of Commerce Chairman or picking the qualities we would like to see in our next door neighbor. Roosevelt was a cheat, Churchill could be a grandiose  jerk and Lincoln (today) would be diagnosed as mentally ill. But what they had,  that will make their names endure for generations, no effete media snob is going to recognize.

I would like to see one of the candidates turn their back on these monkey shows and walk away.

I would support that man.

State treasurer of MA absolutely shreds RomneyCare, which “has nearly bankrupted the state” and is surviving solely because of federal aid

Killing Energy, Killing Jobs, Killing America

In January 2010, Thomas J. Pyle, president of the Institute for Energy Research, warned that the Obama administration “continues to embrace Washington-dominated, command-and-control energy policies focused on mandates, subsidies, and political favors—not market forces.” He criticized “subsidizing one form of energy,” wind and solar, “while restricting the exploration of another,” warning that it “will lead to several measurable outcomes, increasing energy prices across the board, fewer jobs, and a weaker footing in the global economy..”

Nearly two years later, that warning has come true with a vengeance.

Oil, coal, or natural gas, it doesn’t matter to an administration and a president determined to restrict the amount of energy Americans need for their present and future needs. The result, in part, has been a stalled energy sector and a contributing factor in an economy with an estimated 20 million unemployed or under-employed.

The losses in income taxes and the taxes paid by this industry sector, in addition to the hideous borrowing and spending by the Obama administration is doing enormous harm to America and yet Barack Obama wants a second term in office.

We cannot survive a second term for this president, his administration and his friends. We C O U L D  N O T   S U R V I V E.

Federal Judge: School can censor student display of American flag

A federal court has ruled that school administrators had the right to order California high school students to remove displays of the American flag from their clothing on Cinco De Mayo.

As one of the commenter’s suggested,” All schools should celebrate San Jacinto Day on April 21 and ban all displays of Mexican colors, flags, or other symbols of Mexican pride–for fear that they would incite violence.”

How many people out there had the chance to vote on last Tuesday? Were any seats on the school committee up? Did you avail yourself of the opportunity to begin cleaning the politically correct, America hating committee members off the board?

Correcting the ‘fairy tale’: A SEAL’s account of how Osama bin Laden really died

First I’ve heard this version, I can’t vouch for its accuracy, but it sounds MUCH more plausible to me.

“There was a choice that night,” Pfarrer told TheDC. “There was a choice to keep the mission secret.” America, Pfarrer explained, could have left things alone for “weeks or months … even though there was evidence left on the ground there … and use the intelligence and finish off al-Qaida.”

But Obama’s announcement, he said, “rendered moot all of the intelligence that was gathered from the nexus of al-Qaida. The computer drives, the hard drives, the videocasettes, the CDs, the thumb drives, everything. Before that could even be looked through, the political decision was made to take credit for the operation.”

Especially that part. Given that al-Qaida depended on couriers to communicate, the time lag worked in our favor.  Obama is a ass. (OK, my mother just said that).

Update:The Navy has issued a statement that Pfarrer’s book is completely false, they don’t usually do that. I’ll post the link, decide for yourself. Guess it’s a good thing I didn’t vouch for it’s accuracy.

“. . . FIGHTING A PITILESS ENEMY IN A REMOTE, RUGGED PLACE.”

Chief Carlson is represented by one of the stars on the CIA’s Memorial Wall at Langley, but he is not mentioned on the official USASOC Wall of Fallen Heroes – when in fact he should be – because technically he was no longer in USASOC when he fell in action. From what I understand, Delta Force properly honors Chief next to the other fallen brothers of SFOD-D.

Doug’s post:Halleiujah Chorus

This just in………….Most Excellent! Doug.

I have to pass this on as the “Season” fast approaches. This is great and something for all to see and enjoy. This was done one before by a silent chorus of Monks from somewhere and it also was great. Enjoy the energy and message. Hallelujah! Cx This video is a beautiful blend of inspiring music and youthful energy, a classic sound and playful visual celebrating faith, hope and love. This delightful and joyous video is a wonderful alternative to our daily dose of cynicism and anger. You will see and hear the Hallelujah chorus done like you’ve never seen before. This video from the small Eskimo Village of Quinhagak, Alaska, was a school computer project intended for the other villages in the area. Much to the villagers’ shock, over 835,473 people have viewed it. Hallelujah Chorus – Quinhagak , Alaska

Grinch, River and Beach.

Obama Couldn’t Wait: His New Christmas Tree Tax

I want to be the first to call,”GRINCH!”.

Seriously, 5 to 6 million dollars for a new government agency. THAT NEVER WAS AUTHORIZED BY CONGRESS! Correct me if I’m wrong, isn’t congress supposed to O.K. new taxes?

In the fall, when the water is cool and the wind is calm I’m struck by how black the river water looks. It’s as if all the life has fled the waters for unknown destinations.

Send me a postcard when you get to South Carolina.

Bed & Bath parking lot. Lesson to learn?

Always carry a camera.

Note the huge rocks dumped in front of the walkway to the beach at Nantasket. Gee, not very much beach space left for the public, is there? The State of Massachusetts collects taxes to pay for the maintenance of the state beaches, and in the case of Nantasket they also collect a $7.00 parking fee from May to September. With all that money, this is what they do with it. I spent a lot of time at Nantasket when I was young, I never go there in the summer now.

To repeat, there is nothing the State can do better than the private sector or in this case, small town government.

Occupy Kiddies again, Click and Clack, Best College Majors

Occupy Boston arrests continue to mount

O.K. I’m all right now, I’m breathing normally again. Boy! I haven’t laughed so hard in ages. Are you ready?

The latest Occupy arrest, in Boston, Langston Peace, 29 for stealing a Boston Police Bicycle. Black and white, complete with flashing lights and marked BOSTON POLICE.

Can we torch Time Magazine’s offices now? (I didn’t say that, I might have, but I didn’t)

The latest issue contains a piece saying that the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo deserved to have someone – maybe an Islamist, maybe not – firebomb its offices in Paris.

P.S. Over at Index on Censorship James Kirchick makes the essential point that arguments about free speech are always simpler than they look:

“No one has the right not to be offended. No one has the right to firebomb a newspaper that offends them. It’s amazing, given all the struggles and sacrifices that have been made for freedom of speech over many years, that statements so simple bear repeating. But as long as we have moral cowards like Bruce Crumley [the Time journalist] around, repeat them we must.”

I agree with James.

BEST COLLEGE MAJORS FOR A CAREER.

And, from the Wall Street Journal, if only the Occupy Kiddies had read it before choosing their majors.

Choosing the right college major can make a big difference in students’ career prospects, in terms of employment and pay. Here’s a look at how various college majors fare in the job market, based on 2010 Census data. Some popular majors, such as nursing and finance, do particularly well, with unemployment under 5% and high salaries during the course of their careers.

Cain Accuser Filed Complaint in Next Job

Remember Obama’s 2004 Illinois Senate Race.

I’ve posted stuff about Herman Cain, mostly editorial cartoons that tickled my fancy. But, as with most of the candidates I haven’t learned enough about him to decide if I would support him or not. But one thing I decided to always remember during this election, the nature of the beast we fighting.

Barack H. Obama started his political career by clearing the way to his first victories by attacking every one of his opponents in the courts and in the newspapers. In all my reading of American History I’ve never heard of anything like his tactics in Illinois, get rid of the other candidates before the election, get them off the ballot before the voting starts. Go ahead, read about it, its a goggle away these days. And now, these days he has so many willing pawns and lackeys to attack his enemies for him.

I understand Herman Cain is going to fight, good for him. The slimy methods being used stink to high heaven, the players can all be identified as soldiers in Barry’s class warfare army. If the stakes weren’t so serious the situation would be laughable, the Democrats attempting to fain moral indignation over ungentlemanly like conduct towards women. What’s the old saying, ” strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel.” Maybe Cain made a pass at a single adult woman , and took “No” for a answer. Clinton raped, attacked others, treated a young (22) girl like a whore in the White House,  lied and got caught. Other pols, republican and democrat have done the same and worse. Kennedy did all that and more, he killed.

But, Barry knows what works, it worked for him before and it can work again. And this time he has a much better lineup of sock puppets to push it for him, ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, POLITICO…

But for Gods sake, don’t meet Cain on the issues and don’t permit anyone to take Barry’s trump card away, a untouchable BLACK politician.

The singer or the song?

A great speech, pity the speaker isn’t running.

Have any of the actual GOP candidates given a speech as good as Sarah Palin’s “crony capitalism” talk in Iowa on September 3

Here is one of the better passages:

We sent a new class of leaders to D.C., but immediately the permanent political class tried to co-opt them – because the reality is we are governed by a permanent political class, until we change that. They talk endlessly about cutting government spending, and yet they keep spending more. They talk about massive unsustainable debt, and yet they keep incurring more. They spend, they print, they borrow, they spend more, and then they stick us with the bill. Then they pat their own backs, and they claim that they faced and “solved” the debt crisis that they got us in, but when we were humiliated in front of the world with our country’s first credit downgrade, they promptly went on vacation.

No, they don’t feel the same urgency that we do. But why should they? For them business is good; business is very good.  Seven of the ten wealthiest counties are suburbs of Washington, D.C. Polls there actually – and usually I say polls, eh, they’re for strippers and cross country skiers – but polls in those parts show that some people there believe that the economy has actually improved. See, there may not be a recession in Georgetown, but there is in the rest of America.

Yeah, the permanent political class – they’re doing just fine. Ever notice how so many of them arrive in Washington, D.C. of modest means and then miraculously throughout the years they end up becoming very, very wealthy? Well, it’s because they derive power and their wealth from their access to our money – to taxpayer dollars.  They use it to bail out their friends on Wall Street and their corporate cronies, and to reward campaign contributors, and to buy votes via earmarks. There is so much waste. And there is a name for this: It’s called corporate crony capitalism. This is not the capitalism of free men and free markets, of innovation and hard work and ethics, of sacrifice and of risk. No, this is the capitalism of connections and government bailouts and handouts, of waste and influence peddling and corporate welfare. This is the crony capitalism that destroyed Europe’s economies. It’s the collusion of big government and big business and big finance to the detriment of all the rest – to the little guys. It’s a slap in the face to our small business owners – the true entrepreneurs, the job creators accounting for 70% of the jobs in America, it’s you who own these small businesses, you’re the economic engine, but you don’t grease the wheels of government power.

So, do you want to know why the permanent political class doesn’t really want to cut any spending? Do you want to know why nothing ever really gets done? It’s because there’s nothing in it for them. They’ve got a lot of mouths to feed – a lot of corporate lobbyists and a lot of special interests that are counting on them to keep the good times and the money rolling along. [E.A.]

Politico’s Martin Still Can’t Explain Exactly What Herman Cain Did

And lastly,

OBAMA DENIES MEETINGS WITH EXTRATERRESTRIALS. I believe him. Nobody looking for intelligent life would visit this White House.
