Amazon embraces Mass. sales tax, I shut my wallet.

November 1st Amazon.com began collecting sales taxes on all transactions in and for the state of Massachusetts.  (Henceforth to be referred to as The People’s Republic, or just “PR“).

I never got a heads up from Amazon, but the local paper felt the need to crow about it.   I made my last purchase online from Amazon on October 30th.  I not saying I’ll never buy from Amazon again, but it’s going to be a long time before I do.   Here’s the reason.

It is not the amount of money, 6.25% isn’t a deal breaker, most stuff I bought from Amazon was so much cheaper that it is still a bargain. But less of one. I do resent paying out and getting nothing for it. The PR doesn’t do anything to create or maintain the electronic highways nor do they protect that marketplace in any way.    The uses to which they put the money I disagree with; Mandatory Muslim Sensitivity training in High Schools, Election Place signs in an additional five languages, or perhaps they can bring back (yes, back) the free gas and automobiles for welfare clients.

But mostly it’s because I don’t trust the PR to not use the new data they will be getting to play the “retroactively computed sales taxes” based on current purchasing patterns.   There have been cases here of the state’s revenue agency slapping persons and businesses with tax liens calculated on estimations or guess-timations of purchases, income or capital gains not based on any normal reporting actions of the individual or their business.   Way beyond the harassment commonly done to tips and gratuities earned by waitresses, bartenders or other service workers.

The theory here is that they want your money (true, but they work a little harder then that) that this state has always maintained that residents owe sales taxes on all qualifying purchases, no matter where made.  To the extent that The People’s Republic has sent State Tax Agents and even State Troopers to the border states to photograph cars with MA license plates and have them stopped crossing the border going home (Gulag, sweet Gulag).  Now, if prior to Amazon.com reporting sales tax (and sales?) to the State, You normally order one or two hundred dollars of merchandize a month from Amazon and that is a constant average over the course of the year, then each year you have been buying from Amazon you have NOT been paying $75 to $150 a year in sales taxes.   Plus interest, plus penalties, plus service fees for printing and sending the bill to you.  (Believe me, it’s the way they do business with their “citizens” in this state.)  Also, some items come under the heading of Personal Property qualifying for an annual excise tax (I ran across this while straightening out my mothers tax problems on the vacation property.)

Bottom line, it’s going to be a long, long time before I start buying from Amazon.com again.  When I do, enough time will have gone by to screw up their formula for detecting “Past Sales Tax Delinquents“.  And if Amazon.com suffers a loss of business, good. That’s what they get for caving in prematurely to the tax beast of the PR.

Long before a nuclear deal was in reach, the U.S. was quietly lifting some of the financial pressure on Iran, a Daily Beast investigation reveals. How the sanctions were softened.

While those negotiations now appear on the verge of a breakthrough the key condition for Iran—relief from crippling sanctions—began quietly and modestly five months ago.

A review of Treasury Department notices reveals that the U.S. government has all but stopped the financial blacklisting of entities and people that help Iran evade international sanctions since the election of its president, Hassan Rouhani, in June.1383907525219.cached

It may be an impeachable offense, but of course, Barry will never be impeached over it.   Presidential Impeachment case are decided in the Senate. And there are too many traitors in the Senate.

“For five months, since Rouhani’s election, the United States has offered Iran two major forms of sanctions relief,” Dubowitz said. “First there’s been a significant slowdown in the pace of designations while the Iranians are proliferating the number of front companies and cutouts to bust sanctions.”

The second kind of relief Dubowitz said the White House had offered Iran was through its opposition to new Iran sanctions legislation supported by both parties in Congress.

By Dubowitz’s estimates, Iran is now selling between 150,000 and 200,000 barrels of oil per day on the black market, meaning that Iran has profited from the illicit sale of over 35 million barrels of oil since Rouhani took office, with little additional measures taken by the United States to counter it.

“Sounds like Obama decided to enter the Persian nuclear bazaar to haggle with the masters of negotiation and has had his head handed to him,” Dubowitz said.

Congratulations, Virginia!

You just voted for Obamacare, gun control, illegal immigration, forced unionization, and massive tax hikes. Well done!

With all that said, Ken Cuccinelli just proved that the Tea Party, Constitutional Conservative, and Reagan Coalition is still alive and well. Consider what Cuccinelli very nearly accomplished:

He appears to be trailing Terry “Sign Here, Old Man” McAuliffe by less than one stinking percentage point despite:

• Being outspent by a 10-to-1 margin

• A fake “Libertarian” candidate funded by Obama donors

• Being blitzed with outrageous, lying robocalls

• And an RNC that spent next-to-nothing to help

The fake Libertarian drew nearly 7 percent of the vote. Had the story regarding this SOB’s true backers broken a week ago (brilliant research job, media drones!), Cuccinelli would’ve won in a landslide despite the spending disadvantage and a RINO establishment that undermined his efforts from the get-go.

I’m greatly encouraged by these results.

RCP and all of the so-called experts predicted a 7-point margin for Terry “Fund My Green Energy Company” McAuliffe.

Despite all of the sleaze and criminality, Cuccinelli very nearly pulled off an immense upset.

The Tea Party ain’t dead, but the RINO establishment may be.

Moe Lane:

major Democratic Party benefactor and Obama campaign bundler helped pay for professional petition circulators responsible for getting Virginia Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Robert C. Sarvis on the ballot — a move that could split conservative votes in a tight race.

Campaign finance records show the Libertarian Booster PAC has made the largest independent contribution to Sarvis’ campaign, helping to pay for professional petition circulators who collected signatures necessary to get Sarvis’ name on Tuesday’s statewide ballot.

Austin, Texas, software billionaire Joe Liemandt is the Libertarian Booster PAC’s major benefactor. He’s also a top bundler for President Barack Obama.

Sometimes you lose the battle, but win the war. That’s exactly what could happen in our effort to stop Obamacare.

Obamacare CartoonConservatives led an epic fight against Obamacare funding that highlighted the problems with this terrible law. Thanks to your support, SCF purchased $3 million in advertising explaining how it was unaffordable, unworkable, and unfair.

Even though U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and the Republican establishment sabotaged the effort to defund Obamacare, we successfully elevated the issue right as the Obamacare train wreck was about to occur.

Now the Democrats are running for cover.

One by one, Democrats are beginning to call for Obamacare delays. They have no choice. Because of your efforts and the leadership of people like Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Mike Lee (R-UT), Democrats have nowhere to hide.

Obamacare is much worse than many expected.

Everyone has heard about the website failures, but more importantly Americans are beginning to experience the personal and painful effects of the law that we predicted. Many are facing higher insurance premiums while others are losing their coverage and even their jobs.

Obamacare is a complete disaster and the politicians who voted to enact it and to fund it must be held responsible.

DELAYS WON’T FIX THE PROBLEM

Obamacare CartoonSome Democrats want to put a Band-Aid on Obamacare. They think that if parts of it are delayed, it can be fixed and voters will give them a pass.

These delays may give politicians political cover today, but they won’t stop Obamacare from hurting American families in the long run.

The website failures and the fines imposed for lack of coverage are the symptoms, not the disease. The problem with Obamacare is that it takes health care decisions away from Americans and gives that power to the federal government. That core flaw has led to all the problems we are experiencing today.

Obamacare cannot be fixed; it must be repealed. 

Thanks to your support, we’re making progress in our fight against this misguided law. We have forced a national debate on this issue and we’re winning the argument. Now we need to make sure Washington truly solves the problem by ending Obamacare.

Here’s what should happen now:

  • First, Republicans should not vote to fund Obamacare. The fact that Democrats are clamoring for partial delays is proof that they’re on the ropes and will defund the law if Republicans pressure them.
  • Second, Republicans should make it clear that partial delays will not fix Obamacare and it must ultimately be repealed.
  • Third, Republicans should outline their ideas to improve medical coverage. These conservative reforms are superior to Obamacare because they allow Americans to keep their current plans and give them access to even better ones.

TRUE CONSERVATIVES NEEDED

We must also elect principled leaders to the U.S. Senate. 

We need to send people to Washington who will fight for our values and we need to replace Republican incumbents who refuse to listen to us.

Doug: Brazilian Bombardier – great video of airborne firefighting

Another type of fire fighting aircraft.

When the airplane appears on the screen, double click the airplane and wait just a few seconds. This is very cool. The old company, Bombardier Aerospace, makes these. They don’t motor around” to fill the tanks—they touch down at approach speed, open the fill scoops, add lots of power, and the tanks fill in seconds. There’s one scene in the film where you can see the two tank level gauges rapidly go up. The other neat thing is watching the magnitude of the flight control inputs, especially aileron, as they are maneuvering down low—sometimes the pilot is literally going stop to stop. Real flying!

John: I’ve had friends that I know would have been devastated by the loss of their friend in this callused and brutal fashion.

More importantly, the militarization of American Police, that I feel is a large part of this problem, is heading in a disturbing direction. If we can get them to start “hesitating” before killing our pets who are our friends maybe we might save the life of another 14 year old boy in the future.
