So if Obama leaks info and gets Seals killed it’s OK?

Navy SEALs cite shabby treatment as Obama administration helps Hollywood instead

The two authors and a third SEAL were acquitted by military juries when the prosecution’s case fall apart.

One of those former SEALs, Matthew McCabe, said in an interview that the ordeal encouraged him to leave the Navy last year rather than try out for Team 6 as he had planned.

“At that point, I really was thinking, ‘We gave a lot to be in this position. And for the minor allegation we’re being accused of, for you to turn your back on us that quick, I’m not going to give any more,'” said Mr. McCabe, now a commodities analyst in Houston. “I’m done with what’s going on. Should I go to work every day and give 1,000 percent if at the drop of a dime someone is going to stab me in the back? I’m not going to do that.”

Secret Service agents, Navy Seals quitting for reasons directly attributable to the Obama administration.  How many more of America’s elite guardians have quietly resigned, and how many more can we afford to lose?

In 2010, pro-military lawmakers and citizens expressed outrage that U.S. Central Command had filed charges against Mr. McCabe and two other SEALs in the capture of Ahmed Hashim Abed. One of the most-wanted by the U.S., Abed was the accused mastermind of the slayings and desecrations of four American security contractors in the volatile town of Fallujah, west of Baghdad, in 2004.

The SEAL unit had executed a precise raid to infiltrate Abed’s hiding place, capture him and whisk him away in a chopper. No one was hurt.

The SEALs were stunned to learn days later that Abed had accused the three of hitting him. Their superiors, all the way up to Central Command, sided with the terrorist. No one believed their repeated denials. This was a setup, they said.

A master chief petty officer confronted them and demanded their weapons, a devastating scene rendered in the book “Honor and Betrayal,” written by Patrick Robinson, as told by Mr. McCabe and fellow former SEAL Jonathan Keefe.

“Right here it should be recorded that to strip a U.S. Navy SEAL of his armaments is almost to strip him of his birthright,” Mr. Robinson writes. “These men have darn near killed themselves to earn the right to serve their country. To line them up and remove their ever-present combat gear was also to strip them of their dignity, pride and honor.”

Three successive courts-martial showed Abed to be following the al Qaeda textbook: Once captured, claim to have been abused. The credibility of the accusing sailor collapsed under cross-examination.

Isn’t it amazing the harm one man jackass can do if he’s in the right wrong place?

Subject: The Secrets Of The Beatles Revealed

Everyone loves the Beatles. Why?

Not the mop top and “I Wanna Hold Your Hand” stuff, but the Lennon and McCartney compositions that came later. How did they manage to write so much incredibly compelling music? – See more at: http://www.brasschecktv.com/videos/out-there-1/the-secrets-of-the-beatles-revealed.html#sthash.4IX6GyVF.dpuf

It definitely wasn’t their haircuts, clothes or Liverpool charm that made them global figures. The fascinating answer…

Doug: Flightradar, Incredible! Also, wingwalking.

This just in……………… Doug SemperFi signature This is an incredible program…. An incredible number of aircraft occupy the skies all of the time!

Want to know where that plane flying overhead is going, and the type of aircraft? Now, YOU can locate and watch on your computer, ANY plane in the air at that exact moment, and display information about that plane, its type, speed, origin, destination, etc.

Even private aircraft, and at times, even be in the cockpit observing the instrument panel, or look outside the flight window.

At any given moment, you can actually see in real time, literally every plane in the sky over any area of your choosing anywhere in the world. Now you can see why an aircraft traffic controller is one very, very busy person. The information will tell you who is flying the plane, and where they are going. In the left hand column, there is a box called “planes.” The number in the box is the number of aircraft airborne.

This view is what the traffic management people see for planning purposes at the various airports.

What type of plane, airbus A320, 330, 350, where it originated, and where is it going, what altitude, what speed, what company, etc. A few things you can do:

You can drag the map to change the area you want to view, then zoom in by tapping with your mouse.

On the map you will see all the planes in the air. Click on an plane, and on the left screen you will get the flight information, airline, type, speed, altitude in real time, re-calculated every 10 seconds.

On some flights you can also click on the ‘view from the cockpit’….

Also…

Further proof of the the old theory that just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should………..

This supports my theory that pilots are superior human beings. Notice the pilot stays in the aircraft and some idiot, probably a navigator, walks on the wing of two gliders.

Agreed, definitely certifiable !

Thought for the day and Sippy labors on.

Putting things in perspective:

March 21st 2010 to October 1 2013 is 3 years, 6 months, 10 days.

December 7, 1941 to May 8, 1945 is 3 years, 5 months, 1 day.

What this means is that in the time we were attacked at Pearl Harbor to the day Germany surrendered is not enough time for this federal government to build a working webpage.

A competent administration enabled the Mobilization of millions, building tens of thousands of tanks, planes, jeeps, subs, cruisers, destroyers, torpedoes, millions upon millions of guns, bombs, ammo, etc., turning the tide in North Africa, invading Italy, D-Day, Battle of the Bulge, Race to Berlin – all while we were also fighting the Japanese in the Pacific!!

And this incompetent, totally corrupt know-nothing administration can’t build a webpage.

Think about it……..

Some bits I liked from these posts…

When we moved here, I think I spent over two hundred dollars on window glass. Window glass is cheap. If I gave you a bag of baseballs and a half an hour, I doubt you could break two hundred dollars-worth of window glass.

Who fixes their broken windows anymore? First, everything is double or triple pane and the spaces in-between the sheets are filled with dessicated argon, or maybe that is supposed to be Nitrogen. But in the old days, single pane windows and exterior storm windows.

I did all the windows in my old house (the burnt down one); first fixing the broken panes which were either half sheet or eighth individual pane. Then affixed the first storm windows that the old shack had ever had.

Donie complained that when I finished the house smelled “flat”.   I had her step outside and take a breath,  “That’s what the living room used to smell like!” she exclaimed.  So I went down to the hardware store and bought a can of air freshener in “Alpine Meadow”.  I sprayed that stuff around and she could enjoy the atmosphere of being outside,  but with heat.

Sippy on Realtor tricks,

Oh, I know that handyman. That guy gets around. I never learned his name, but he seemed to be interested in every property I was interested in Maine. No matter where I went — Turner, Cornish, Peru, Livermore Falls, Norway, Rumford…

Anyway, that polymath handyman with the lead foot and the nose for diamonds in the rough was always one step ahead of us, ready to stuff our defeat into the jaws of his victory.

I’ve been following Sippy’s writing for a while, I know that he originally came from Marion Massachusetts (originally called Sippican for the Indian tribe that lived there).   He fled the onset of socialized medicine in MA called Romeycare (or Obamacare 1.0 as it is now known) and took his business of hand manufacture of pieces of furniture to Maine.  I have a couple myself.   I’d take and post a picture of the bench  thats at the end of the bed, but first I’d have to move all the clothes off the top and the printer supplies from the bottom shelf.

I have mixed feelings about that bench, Several years ago I ordered it from Sippy’s website, selected the color and the finish, entered my credit card info, the transaction was accepted and a week later…TaDa!   (Wow, I just realized that I know who could fix the Obamacare website!)

I brought the bench into the bedroom and placed it proudly at the foot of the bed.   My wife, Donie, came in, looked at it and smiled.  She said “Oh, I Like That.”  And with those words it was no longer my Harry Longbaugh’s Bench, it was hers.  Ever after if I was to attempt to sit on it briefly to put my socks on, I’d hear “Don’t Sit There! You will winkle my blouse!”.   I have it back now with my dear wife’s passing, but I’d rather not.

The Flim Flam Man.

WSJ/Fouad Ajami: When the Obama Magic Died

The current troubles of the Obama presidency can be read back into its beginnings. Rule by personal charisma has met its proper fate. The spell has been broken, and the magician stands exposed. We need no pollsters to tell us of the loss of faith in Mr. Obama’s policies—and, more significantly, in the man himself. Charisma is like that.

All flash, no competence.

During his first campaign, Mr. Obama had paid tribute to Ronald Reagan as a “transformational” president and hinted that he aspired to a presidency of that kind. But the Reagan presidency was about America, and never about Ronald Reagan. Reagan was never a scold or a narcissist. He stood in awe of America, and of its capacity for renewal. There was forgiveness in Reagan, right alongside the belief in the things that mattered about America—free people charting their own path.

Ronald Reagan left this country a better, stronger, more prosperous land.  Obama has laid waste to everything he touched. Before him America could guarantee peace for any and all nations.  Today we have retreated everywhere and all nations know we can no longer help them.  Barry has turned money into shit, spent and gained nothing back.

No advisers of stature can question his policies; the price of access in the Obama court is quiescence before the leader’s will. The imperial presidency is in full bloom.

There are no stars in the Obama cabinet today, men and women of independent stature and outlook. It was after a walk on the White House grounds with his chief of staff, Denis McDonough, that Mr. Obama called off the attacks on the Syrian regime that he had threatened. If he had taken that walk with Henry Kissinger or George Shultz, one of those skilled statesmen might have explained to him the consequences of so abject a retreat. But Mr. Obama needs no sage advice, he rules through political handlers.

“True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.”

Kurt Vonnegut

We should be so lucky.

Taxation without (House) of Representation is Tyranny!

House Republicans back new constitutional challenge to ObamaCare

Forty House Republicans filed a brief last week in support of a legal challenge against ObamaCare that argues the law imposes billions of dollars in new taxes but did not originate in the House, as tax bills must under the Constitution.

Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) spearheaded the effort by filing a “friend of the court” brief on Friday with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. That brief argued that ObamaCare violated the Origination Clause of the Constitution, which holds that all bills for raising revenue “shall originate in the House.”

The brief recounted how ObamaCare was ultimately passed — the Senate took an unrelated bill that gave tax breaks to certain veterans and added what ultimately became the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).”If the Senate can introduce the largest tax increase in American history by simply peeling off the House number from a six-page unrelated bill which does not raise taxes and pasting it on the ‘Senate Health Care Bill,’ and then claim with a straight face that the resulting bill originated in the House, in explicit contravention of the supreme law of the land, then the American ‘rule of law’ has become no rule at all,” the GOP brief said

I’ve been waiting for this.  Ever since CJ Roberts announced that this POS was a tax this was the obvious response.  Why the delay?  Why didn’t they run with this instead of the ill-conceived and poorly explained shut-down?

Taxation without (House) of Representation is Tyranny!

Something making the rounds…

I don’t usually post stuff making the chain email rounds, but I liked this one…

Scary Obituary:
In 1887 Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the
University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the
Athenian Republic some 2,000 years prior: “A democracy is always
temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent
form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until
the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous
gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority
always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from
the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally
collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a
dictatorship.”

“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations from the
beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200
years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.”
The Obituary follows:

Born 1776, Died 2012
It doesn’t hurt to read this several times.
Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law in

St. Paul, Minnesota, points out some interesting facts concerning
the last Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama-19; Romney-29.
Square miles of land won by: Obama-580,000; Romney-2,427,000.
Population of counties won by: Obama-127 million; Romney-143 million.
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama-13.2; Romney-2.1.

Professor Olson adds: “In aggregate, the map of the territory
Romney won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens
of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low
income tenements and living off various forms of government
welfare…”

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the
‘complacency and apathy’ phase of Professor Tyler’s definition of

democracy, with some forty percent of the nation’s population
already having reached the “governmental dependency” phase.

If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million
criminal invaders called illegals – and they vote – then we can say
goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message.

If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how
much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our
freedom..

Final toast, last tribute in the flesh, but not of the spirit.

Video: Doolittle Raiders final reunion, last toast.

Known as the Doolittle Raiders, the 80 men who risked their lives on a World War II bombing mission on Japan after the attack on Pearl Harbor were toasted one last time by their surviving comrades and honored with a Veterans Day weekend of fanfare shared by thousands.

Three of the four surviving Raiders attended the toast Saturday at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. Their late commander, Lt. Gen. James “Jimmy” Doolittle, started the tradition but they decided this autumn’s ceremony would be their last.

“May they rest in peace,” Lt. Col. Richard Cole, 98, said before he and fellow Raiders — Lt. Col. Edward Saylor, 93, and Staff Sgt. David Thatcher, 92 — sipped cognac from specially engraved silver goblets. The 1896 cognac was saved for the occasion after being passed down from Doolittle.

Follow the numbers.

A Typical Clean Energy Boondoggle

Master Resource looks at the California Valley Solar Ranch

In a realistic appraisal of the CVSR we should note the following:

· An investment of $1.6 billion 250 MW breaks down to an extravagant $6,400,000 per megawatt.

· The Solar Ranch covers 1,500 acres.

· The CVSR is projected to produce 482,000 MWh per year, implying an operating capacity factor of around 22%.

· Given a reasonable appraisal of the value of 482,000 MWh per year, it is not possible that the solar panels will be able to provide a return sufficient to pay back the $1.6 billion investment within their functional life (not even close), even when ignoring annual operating and maintenance costs. Hundreds of millions of dollars will be lost (see Updated CSVR Cash Flow).

….

A much more viable alternative to a solar generation facility, although not the only one, is a plant using natural gas. A natural gas combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) facility capable of 250 MW would have required less than one-fourth the capital investment, would be capable of making four times the electricity per year at 88% capacity factor, and would fit on a single ten acres.

Also, a CCGT facility could have been located closer to the point(s) of actual use of the electricity, and could provide dispatchable energy which could be increased or decreased as demand fluctuates; something the solar facility is incapable of providing.

That is talking about new construction. Now running those numbers and after we convert that cost factor to GW (Gigawatts) since to talk about what we need to talk about we either use GigaWatts as the unit of measurement or the numbers get too big. So at those prices and efficiencies One Gigawatt (installed capacity/ solar power) is $6.4 billion dollars for solar.

The scary bugaboo of this administration is coal, as in coal fired power plants.   So that is the end goal of all this subsidized Wind and Solar power, replace Coal. (First. Gas and Petroleum later)   Most Coal plants are of a size over one Gigawatt in capacity. Total (currently installed) capacity of coal fired plants in the USA today is…(ta-daa!)    1,733,430 Gigawatts. Or over 1.7 Tera-watt.  Coal fired power plants also have a higher degree of utilization (time on-line generating power) that is three to four times that of solar power plants.  If Solar plants were as reliable as Coal (utilization) that would still cost 11 trillion dollars to replace just existing coal plants, 33 trillion dollars to match their performance.

What do you suppose the impact on your tax bill would be to fund the necessary Federal Subsidies to pay for that?   And by the way, there still has to be substantial  non-solar, non-wind power plants to provide power for those times that the wind don’t blow and the sun don’t shine.

Finally, all investment in solar power should be immediately suspended as the futile and dead-end effort it is. Since as all the world must know, in 2017, at the end of Barack Obama’s presidential term, all the light goes out of the world. Fire
