Heinlein

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man.
Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded -- here and there, now and then -- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck." -- Robert A. Important story!
#FAKEPOLLS: How Legacy Media Manipulates Polling and Lies to You About… Everything
The credibility of mainstream political polls took a serious hit following the 2016 election. Most predicted an easy victory for Hillary Clinton. The entire political class believed she was a shoo-in, and that the election would be a mere formality. But the polls and the pundits were wrong, glaringly so.
It appears they are wrong again, because they persist in making the same mistakes they have been making for years.
Most pollsters and pundits report that President Trump’s approval ratings are in the tank — consistently in the mid- to upper-30 percent range. His disapproval rates average a whopping 57 percent, according to the polls cited below.
The following table reveals why.
In every poll, Democrat respondents outnumbered Republicans by significant amounts. The Economist poll was the worst. Only 24 percent of respondents (360) were Republicans compared to 38 percent (570) Democrats – which means that 58 percent more Democrats were polled than Republicans, as shown in the %D/R column.
Mark Twain “There are three kinds of lies: lies, (God) damned lies and statistics.”
Trump was right! (Should abbreviate that to TWR!)
Trump is Right: 65 MSM Reporters Met With or Coordinated with Hillary Camp in 2016 – 91% of Media Reports Trashed Him
The Media Research Center found 91% of the coverage of Trump in the weeks leading up to the election was “hostile” towards the Republican candidate.
Thanks to Wikileaks we now know that at least 65 mainstream reporters were working closely with the Clinton campaign this election year. They were invited to top elitist dinners with Hillary Campaign Chairman John Podesta or Chief Campaign strategist Joel Benenson.
NOT A SINGLE FOX NEWS REPORTER MADE THE LIST!
These 65 mainstream reporters CAN NEVER BE TRUSTED:
As previously reported— At least 38 top national reporters attended a different dinner at John Podesta’s house in April 2015.
The Clinton campaign sent out invites to New York reporters in April 2015 to their off-the-record meeting on how to sell Hillary Clinton to the public.

Battle of Charlottesville. The guy on the left (Described by left-wing media as just a peaceful pedestrian attacked for standing up for what he believes in, YEAH RIGHT!) now has a $350k GoFundMe. Here’s the actual proof that the media won’t show, the victim and “peaceful protester” armed with a baseball bat heading for a fight… very sad day.

Easing the Pacific Fleet’s ISR BurdenThe U.S. Seventh Fleet has been in the news a lot lately. It appears the challenge of trying to police a vast expanse of ocean stretching from the eastern coast of Africa to the Korean Peninsula with only a few dozen warships is running sailors ragged.
Unfortunately, the demands on America’s biggest forward-deployed fleet are only going to grow as China continues flexing its military muscle throughout the Western Pacific. President Trump has proposed increasing the pace of the naval shipbuilding program, but it will take many years before that translates into more warfighting resources for the Seventh Fleet. Washington needs to take other, faster steps that can help the fleet do its job.
So here’s an example of the kind of measure that might help. Both the Seventh Fleet and its Fifth Fleet counterpart operating in the Persian Gulf region have a stated requirement for better tracking and identification of hostile surface targets. Current airborne and overhead sensors either can’t see far enough while maintaining a safe distance from emerging threats or are challenged to provide sufficient detail to determine where threats are, and what they may be doing. The Navy needs a sensor that can see long distances and provides sufficient precision so that a target’s classification can be quickly understood while maintaining crew safety from the threat of surface to air missiles in the area.
It turns out such a sensor already exists; it just doesn’t belong to the Navy. It is the MSI family of sensors carried on the U-2 spy plane, and now also on the Global Hawk long-endurance drone. Made by UTC Aerospace Systems, the MSI family of systems has been continuously improved since it first debuted in the early 1990s. The latest version, designated the MS-177A, uses increased spectral resolution to monitor and identify targets in the maritime domain. The sensor capabilities stretch across the electromagnetic spectrum and provide exceptional long range imagery that can be rapidly disseminated to warfighters.
This increased spectral resolution, in concert with a large aperture, enables the MS-177 to see all sorts of things at distances that would be missed by the Navy’s current sensors. MS-177 provides day/night surveillance, haze penetration, and material discrimination at resolutions that enable autonomous target detection.
The defense department is currently considering an airborne demonstration of the sensor to assess its value in maritime target detection and ranging. House and Senate authorizing committees have noted in their reports on the fiscal 2018 defense budget that the sensor seems well-suited to anti-surface, anti-submarine and mine warfare areas where the U.S. Pacific Fleet and Seventh Fleet would likely be heavily stressed in any Pacific conflict. The sensor can be carried on Navy manned patrol aircraft, large unmanned aerial vehicles, or even modified business jets.
The planned demonstration of the sensor is precisely the kind of initiative needed to get help to the Seventh Fleet and other forward-deployed naval forces fast. By tapping into an already warm Air Force production line, the sensor could be deployed in support of U.S. Navy and coalition warfighters in half the time it would take to field a new system from scratch — maybe only three years versus six or seven. There is at present no other passive sensor that can provide high-resolution target data in multiple bands over such great distances.
Being passive is important. What that means in military parlance is that the sensor doesn’t generate a distinctive signal the way radar would that betrays its presence and might even provide a beacon for enemy attackers. All the MS-177A does is collect the telltale signatures that surface objects generate in the infrared or visible portions of the spectrum. Because it is passive, adversaries often won’t know they are being surveilled. But operating as it does in multiple spectral bands, the sensor can detect numerous details about threats that might seem well-hidden.
The MS-177A is also capable of covering a great deal of sea or land quickly, which is especially significant in the vast expanses of the Western Pacific. To be precise, it can monitor 37,000 square kilometers of area per hour, while still being able to focus in on particular spots with high resolution if objects of interest are detected. When it finds such objects — say, for example, a suspicious ship or a large truck hidden in the jungle — the MS-177A can distinguish the target from surrounding clutter and examine changes over prolonged periods of time to detect movement of forces.
Nothing in the current Navy portfolio of capabilities can do this at the same ranges or resolution, and with the same degree of persistence as the MS-177A. So it was eminently sensible to sponsor an airborne demonstration that might lead to early fielding of the sensor in support of the Navy. The Air Force has already invested in all the engineering and integration costs for its reconnaissance planes, and the Navy can save a great deal of time and money by leveraging that investment to rapidly field a much-needed capability on its own aircraft.

Sweden…this can’t be believed!
Swedish police must put rapes aside – have too many murders to investigate
Swedish police are forced to use the resources to investigate murders and attempted murders and do not have the time and resources to investigate the many reported rapes, reports Nettavisen.
Reported rapes have been put aside for weeks, even when there is a suspect in the case, police say.
– It is difficult to explain why rape cases are put aside, but the other crimes are even more serious. It is two evils that we have to choose between, says Söderberg to SVT, adding:
– The worst thing that can happen is that the public loses faith in the judiciary. We must not come here.
This is, however, precisely where Sweden is heading when police are so exhausted that they drop investigating rapes, burglaries and petty crime, because people will eventually begin to take care of business themselves and vigilantes will emerge. And then there will be lawlessness at a grand scale, which will probably escalate to cultural tensions large enough to trigger a civil war.
It’s just a matter of patience, which at the moment is fading fast. Then, if civil war erupts, actually a very likely outcome when people are pushed too far, let’s remember that the Swedes are descendants of the Vikings, tough, relentless barbarians on the battlefield.
This last part is interesting. (By the way, mostly it’s the new muslim refugees committing these horrific murders and rapes. You knew that, right?)
So to trigger a resurrection of the Vikings, would not be very healthy for any opponents in war.
They seem to be saying that like it’s a bad thing? I think that a few murderers and rapists caught and having the ‘Blood Eagle’ cut out of them would be a very positive step.

Doug: Dave Barry…We have Lentils!
For all who don’t or haven’t lived in South Florida, Dave Barry, a Coral Gables resident, has been writing for the Miami Herald for over 30 years, sharing his view of the human condition……
===========================================
This is a hoot! Better to laugh than cry!
We here in Miami are NOT FREAKING OUT AT ALL!BY DAVE BARRY
Here’s how I know a hurricane is coming:
We have lentils.
We NEVER eat lentils. I am not 100 percent sure what a lentil is. I do know for a fact that not once has anybody in our household ever said, “You know what would be great for dinner tonight? Lentils!”
But at the moment we have roughly a 45-year supply of lentils on hand. This is because we are in Hurricane Preparedness Freakout Mode, and one of the things we Floridians do in this mode is go to Publix and get in long lines to buy mass quantities of things we will never eat. Publix could put out a big display of cans labeled “Toad Intestines Packed In Snail Vomit” and we Floridians would snap them all up in minutes.
That’s how prepared we are.
My family did manage to secure a large supply of jerky, which we actually like. We chew it thoughtfully while we watch the Weather Channel people tell us, over and over and over, how screwed we are. All our jerky will be gone before Irma gets here.
When we’re not eating our hurricane supplies or waiting in line to buy more, we’re going on the Internet to check the computer models, which are these little lines on a map showing where various computers think the hurricane will go. Checking these lines makes me nervous, so I try not to do it too often. Once every six minutes is plenty. I root for the lines that have the hurricane going away from South Florida, but there’s always at least one line going straight toward me. If you zoom in really close, you see a little square at the end of this line labeled DAVE BARRY’S HOUSE. Sometimes I click on this line with my mouse and try to drag it out to sea, but evidently computer models don’t work that way.
As part of our preparedness we have a “whole house” generator, which is the size of a nuclear submarine but more expensive. We installed it after Wilma knocked out our power for a couple of weeks in 2005 and we all smelled like unlaundered jockstraps. We take good care of our generator: It gets serviced regularly, and it automatically tests itself every week. That is why I can calmly report that, with a major hurricane heading directly at my house, our generator, which has been well-treated for all these years and has never been asked to generate anything, IS NOT WORKING. Really. When I turn it on, it turns itself right back off. It is the French labor union of generators.
So I called our generator guy, a good and competent man named Ralph (I am sucking up here) who at the moment is dealing with frantic distress calls from pretty much every generator owner in the greater Florida-Georgia area. Ralph is hoping he can get us up and running before Irma gets here. If not, I will implement Plan B, which is to go to Home Depot and purchase – if there are any left – a bazooka. We’ll see how the French Labor Generator likes THAT.
Anyway, to summarize, in checklist form, the current state of our hurricane preparedness:
ELECTRICITY: No.
JERKY: Going fast.
LENTILS: Check!
So we’re as ready as we’ll ever be. I hope my fellow South Floridians are also prepared; I hope — seriously — that we all come out of this OK. But whatever happens, I am confident that when it’s over, we will come together, as a united, caring community, and get into fistfights in gas lines.
I am definitely getting a bazooka.
