Friday News

First, I promise to get out on the water tomorrow and come back with more pictures and words not about Obama or the economy or the riots. Unless I paddle by Barry drowning in Cape Cod Bay then I’ll take a picture of him and paddle on.

Obama Versus Obama

by Victor Davis Hanson

“In a word, the president is discovering that Barack Obama is now at war with Barack Obama. It is not just that the public has fathomed that what Obama says one day will change the next. It is more troublesome than that: Americans are catching on that what Obama now insists is true usually proves at odds with what Obama once asserted. So the nation is insidiously tuning him out—a novel and annoying experience for the president.”

Is it possible that Obama is … what did they call his predecessor … intellectually incurious?

“At a similar point in Jimmy Carter’s presidency Carter collapsed in a road race.  (I urge Obama to refrain from strenuous athletics until his approval rating gets back above 44%.)”

What to Do When Your Hybrid Car’s Battery Dies

“You might think that a hybrid vehicle’s electric motor would be a godsend if you ran out of gas; it could provide enough power to get you to a gas station. But Chevrolet’s Tahoe and Silverado hybrids, for example, completely shut down if they run out of gas. There’s no coasting—and no limping to a gas station on the battery, even if the main battery is fully charged. We know: We tried…”

Sinkhole found in I-90 tunnel (The Big Dig)

Four feet deep, 190 feet long, some ramps and drainage pipes as well as 8 train tracks have already sunk up to 8 feet. (located under South Station so the commuter rail is hazarded)

THE REAL PROBLEM WITH OUR GOVERNMENT SYSTEM
(exquisitely said) (by RICO at Theo Spark) (I’m stealing a lot from Theo today)

The folks who are getting free sh*t,
don’t like the folks who are paying for the free sh*t,
because the folks who are paying for the free sh*t,
can no longer afford to pay for both the free sh*t and their
own sh*t.

And, the folks who are paying for the free sh*t,
want the free sh*t to stop.
And the folks who are getting the free sh*t,
want even MORE free sh*t on top of the free sh*t they’re
already getting!

Fast forward to Now.
The people who are forcing the people who PAY for the
free sh*t, have told the people who are RECEIVING the free sh*t,
That the people who are PAYING for the free sh*t,
are being…. mean.

So the people who are GETTING the free sh*t,
have lately been convinced they need to HATE the people who are PAYING
for the free sh*t, by the people who are forcing the people who are PAYING for the free sh*t and GIVING them the free sh*t in the first place.

That’s the straight sh*t! Thus endith the lesson.

THE DOCTOR SAYS………

A doctor from Israel says:”In Israel the medicine is so advanced that we cut off a mans testicles, put them on another man and in 6 weeks, he is looking for work.”

The German doctor comments: “Thats nothing, in Germany we take part of a brain from one man, put it in another man, and in 4 weeks, he is looking for work.”

A Russian doctor says: Russia has you beat, Gentlemen. We take out half a heart from one, put it in another’s chest, and in 2 weeks, he is looking for work.”

The United States doctor answers and laughs: “You all are way behind us. Two and a half years ago in the USA we took a man with no brains, no heart and no balls, put him in as President. Now, the whole country is looking for work!!!

Scotch Whiskey – my sentiments, exactly

“If you mean whiskey, the devil’s brew, the poison scourge, the bloody monster that defiles innocence, dethrones reason, destroys the home, creates misery and poverty, yea, literally takes the bread from the mouths of little children; if you mean that evil drink that topples Christian men and women from the pinnacles of righteous and gracious living into the bottomless pits of degradation, shame, despair, helplessness, and hopelessness, then, my friend, I am opposed to it with every fiber of my being.

However, if by whiskey you mean the oil of conversation, the philosophic wine, the elixir of life, the ale that is consumed when good fellows get together, that puts a song in their hearts and the warm glow of contentment in their eyes; if you mean Christmas cheer, the stimulating sip that puts a little spring in the step of an elderly gentleman on a frosty morning; if you mean that drink that enables man to magnify his joy, and to forget life’s great tragedies and heartbreaks and sorrow; if you mean that drink the sale of which pours into our treasuries untold millions of dollars each year, that provides tender care for our little crippled children, our blind, our deaf, our dumb, our pitifully aged and infirm, to build the finest highways, hospitals, universities, and community colleges in this nation, then my friend, I am absolutely, unequivocally in favor of it. This is my position, and as always, I refuse to be compromised on matters of principle.

(Address to the legislature by Alcorn County Mississippi House of Representatives Member Armon M. Sweat, Jr., 1952, “Whiskey Speech”),

Liberal Rage Won’t Stop the Tea Party’s Rise

They rage, they posture, they whine, but they will not stand. I wonder how Obama is sleeping nights now that he’s betrayed the men and their families of Seal Team Six by misusing them and using their deaths for political gain. The one team of men who if they decided to do it, could go through the Secret Service like a hot knife through butter. Lucky for him they are not Praetorians, they are so much better.

Wednesday News

THE riots in London and elsewhere in Britain are a backhanded tribute to the long-term intellectual torpor, moral cowardice, incompetence and careerist opportunism of the British political and intellectual class.

The view from Australia, the writer used to live in Britain.

“Relatively poor as the rioting sector of society is, it nevertheless possesses all the electronic equipment necessary for the prosecution of the main business of life; that is to say, entertainment by popular culture. And what a culture British popular culture is!

Perhaps Amy Winehouse was its finest flower and its truest representative in her militant and ideological vulgarity, her stupid taste, her vile personal conduct and preposterous self-pity.

Her sordid life was a long bath in vomitus, literal and metaphorical, for which the exercise of her very minor talent was no excuse or explanation. Yet not a peep of dissent from our intelllectual class was heard after her near canonisation after her death, that class having long had the backbone of a mollusc.”

Communities use social media to take back the streets from mob as police get water cannons

24 hour notice for the British Police to get water cannons. Frankly, I don’t think the rioters have the patience to wait.

Read the article, the areas in the cities that didn’t burn, where the people came out to defend their homes, businesses and places of worship were the Arab, Asian, Indian and Turkish communities. Does this quote remind you of the English Yeoman of yore;

“Hundreds of people outside a Sikh temple in Southall, south London, stood shoulder to shoulder yesterday to defend their place of worship from young rioters.”

The Anglican houses of worship in England are empty these days (attendance at services 1.9%) , an entire generation has been raised without spiritual or moral guidance. No man without belief can stand before those filled with faith. The men without belief in Britain are the ruling class, the rioters were never educated but taught self-esteem and the majority of the immigrants hold strong belief systems and family ties. Come back in twenty years and how do you think this is going to play out?

Where are the Englishmen? Churchill weeps.

The Heralds token liberal columnist, Margery Eagan.

We’ve run out of hope, Obama

“Barack Obama should curse the Wall Street greed heads and the Tea Party know-nothings and move boldly to rescue the great beleaguered American middle class.

But he won’t. Just when we need him most, he’s turned into a gutless, quivering wimp.”

Can’t you tell she’s a liberal who got the memo about the “Tea Party Downgrade”,

“And curse the Wall Street greed heads..Tea Party know-nothings” Elegant wording, does the Boston Herald have editors?  Nice way to get out a recession, bad mouth the only wealth and job producing segment of our economy.

“Tea Party Downgrade”? They Can’t Possibly Sell That

Of the administration’s alternative theories, the most ludicrous is the claim that the Tea Party, the one group dedicated to doing something about the nation’s spending and debt crisis, is somehow to blame for it. Yet this is the theory that President Obama’s political adviser, David Axelrod, tried to sell on Face the Nation this morning:

Mr. Obama’s longtime political adviser, David Axelrod, made clear that Democrats would seek to brand the rating as a “Tea Party downgrade.”

John Kerry and the ‘Tea Party Downgrade’

**Written by Doug Powers

The “Tea Party downgrade” memo has been successfully circulated.

First up today is John Kerry. It’s some kind of hilarious to watch a big spending, pro bloated government liberal try to come across like a life-long hawk on cutting deficits, shrinking government and tackling the debt problem — if only his hands weren’t tied by those darned anti spending cuts Tea Partiers: On NBC’s “Meet the Press” Sunday, the Massachusetts Democrat called Standard & Poor’s lowering of the nation’s credit rating from AAA to AA+ as “without question, tea party downgrade.”

This Nimrod, who is one of the Senators from my state, also made the amazing request of the American free press that they agree to suppress all dialogue and statements by tea party supporters.

Recovery. It can be done:

S&P upgrades Saskatchewan on low debt burden

Rather than quickly spending its newly-earned wealth, the provincial government has put its tax revenue toward paying the bills. S&P gave special credit to Saskatchewan for its “low-and-declining debt burden.” As of March 31, the province’s fiscal year-end, Saskatchewan’s debt totalled $4.6-billion, representing 38 per cent of this year’s projected operating revenues and only 8 per cent of its gross domestic product. Canada’s federal debt-to-GDP ratio sits at around 35 per cent.

Of course to do this without interference, the region had to turn out the liberals and go right in the last election.

On Sunday pause and remember the 31 Americans recently killed in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan isn’t worth the loss of the lives of so many brave and exceptional Americans.

Two things wrong with the story I’ve heard from the AP and CNN reports; (three things, why are the only reports on this tragedy coming from those dubious sources?) First, what were such high value troops doing in a big and slow transport helicopter with no advanced defensive systems? Second, what were Seals doing on a mixed operation as indicated by the presence of Afghan troops on board? If this was Seal Team Six as has been reported then the loss of thirty members of that team is a stark tragedy. Based on published accounts of the size of the special unit, this would mostly wipe them out. Team Six is the only Seal unit that has it’s own aviation unit and dedicated aircraft so either the reports are  fundamentally  wrong or someone gave some stupid orders.

Update: from Glenn Reynolds site, Instapundit.

READER JOHN LUCAS EMAILS:

I hope you will consider this, as it is from a slightly different perspective than I have seen elsewhere. Perhaps this is a result of my background and the fact that I have a son in special ops on his fifth combat deployment. Maybe if you say something about this, someone in the government will see it and think twice before they run their mouth the next time we suffer significant casualties.

One of the most despicable reactions I have seen from the US to this incident was the fact that the initial press reports quoted an unnamed government official as confirming that the KIAs were from Seal Team 6 and the 160th Avn. Bde., which is the special ops aviation unit. This unnamed person requested anonymity because the families of the KIAs had not yet been notified. Whoever this irresponsible government official was, he should be drawn and quartered. I can tell you from personal experience, when families back her he reports of a downed helicopter or some other incident with significant casualties, they are on pins and needles until the names are announced. Their hearts race every time the telephone rings. The fear is magnified if you think the casualties are may be from the area where your loved one is deployed.

The Specials Ops community is very small. And, the number of Navy Seals and 160th Aviation personnel in Afghanistan is even smaller. From the time this government creature could not resist making his unauthorized disclosure, he put every family of every deployed Seal and 160th crew member through unbelievable mental anguish, waiting to hear if their loved one was one of those killed. Having identified the units that the KIAs were from, he put every family on notice that there was a very high chance that their husband, father or son was dead. Is this guy so stupid that he didn’t know this or did he just not care? That some government official would do this shows how out of touch they are with the military and military culture.

On another note, I hope this puts the stake through the heart of Bill O’Reilly’s tasteless promotion for the “Navy Seals-1 Bin Laden-0″ t-shirts. I have been offended by them ever since he began pimping them on FNC. My objection was that they treat this as if it is a game, keeping score like a soccer match. It is no game as this incident starkly reminds us. Such efforts to trivialize war should be shunned by decent people.

Guidelines on Afghan Nighttime Operations Add Safeguards for Civilians to Ease Tensions With Karzai, Officials Say

Yes, lets make the job harder and more dangerous for our Special Ops troops to placate politicians and the press. Did these changes in 2010 have anything to do with this disaster and will we ever know the truth?

The Bush II record wasn’t good, but he’s no Obama. More than that, he’s no Democrat.

Thank you President Obama!

Love this bit: In the space of two years, you have done more damage to this economy — which means the future not only of this country but the rest of what you would disdain to call the civilized world — than any President in history. You are a poor man’s Jimmy Carter, a midget Herbert Hoover, a disaster for this country and the world.
