America Gives China A Mineral Monopoly

“Complaints from the Congo are growing about the U.S. legislation intended to stop illegal mineral sales. The Dodd-Frank bill (also called the Obama Law) has a clause that prohibits the sale of so-called conflict minerals may have been well-intentioned but it was not well-thought out. Rather than run the risk of buying any minerals that might have been smuggled from the Congo, many major mining companies are simply refusing to buy minerals from central Africa. The result is a de facto embargo. There are few buyers for Congo’s valuable minerals, especially tantalum and tungsten which have many hi-tech uses. This has damaged the Congo’s economy, because the nation relies on mineral exports. According to some sources, China, which does not have to meet Dodd-Frank standards, is snapping up many minerals at very cheap prices.”

SAN DIEGO –  San Diego police say a 16-year-old boy throwing rocks at a sport utility vehicle was struck by a crossbow bolt fired by a passenger.

Police say the shirtless boy and a friend were throwing rocks at a black Toyota RAV4 in the Linda Vista neighborhood Monday afternoon when a passenger fired a crossbow out the window.

The boy was shot in the right side and was taken to a hospital. The San Diego Union-Tribune says his injuries are not life-threatening.

His name wasn’t released.

Nobody has been arrested.

Sunday News

CEO of Gibson Guitar a Republican donor; Democrat competitor uses same wood

“On Thursday, the iconic Gibson Guitar Corporation issued a press release stating that government officials raided their Tennessee manufacturing facility over warrants concerning the legality of the importation of wood purchased from India that they use in their world famous guitars. The wood–which is certified and regulated by the Forest Stewardship Council–is not illegal, but rather subject to a domestic law in India frowns upon the processing of this wood by non-Indians. (Gibson uses American labor for the processing.)”

The Indian Government DID NOT request US enforcement of their law, no one seems to know why Gibson Guitar was raided and their competitor was not. Other than the different pattern of political contributions.

Chinese men have already started to conquer Russia’s female population

China has too many men, not enough females. Russia, particularly in rural area (like Siberia) have more women than men. And the men are usually drunk. Already many men of Chinese descent have crossed the border and taken Russian wives. The Russian ladies like the Chinese men, they drink less and work more. In ten years or so, Russia will probably lose Siberia to China.

Rebels Take Aim at Gadhafi’s Last Bastion

“Abu Salim, dubbed “Bu Slim” by the rebels, has become a prison for the Gadhafi regime’s brutal soldiers. The dictator’s scattered henchmen, battered by the fight against the oncoming rebels, have been seeking refuge here for weeks. They didn’t know where else to go, Tripoli residents say. In addition to Libyan soldiers, they say, thousands of mercenaries from elsewhere in Africa, promised Libyan citizenship for their services, are also hiding out in the quarter. “Bu Slim” is the last battlefield in the city, but it is a desperate fight waged by those with nothing left to lose but their lives. It’s “kill or be killed,” says a revolutionary with a shrug.”

Last chance to get on the water until the storm passes.

In late August were you expecting the water to be warmer, perhaps?

What we (Baystaters) say is, perfect!

At very low tide the channel gets narrow and the buoy is close enough to spit at it from the sandbar. Hey! Maybe thats why they call it the Spit?

More later, must barbecue chicken now.
