Top Documentary at the Box Office this year, “2016”: Obama’s America.

I have seen the documentary/commentary “2016”.

Though it will be the biggest Documentary of the year at the box office, I can guarantee that Hollywood will NOT even nominate this film for any awards. Attack it, yes.

Unfortunately for Obama he can’t successfully attack it for accuracy since most of it comes right out of his own books and public speeches.

The effectiveness of this movie comes from D’Souza’s source material and his own low key and clear narration. Also the from the producer of “Schindler’s List”, Gerald Molen. There is some stories about Obama I wasn’t familiar with before but mostly this movie just puts everything we know about his life in one concise story, following a timeline and making mostly reasonable connections and some personal conjecture.

Perhaps you will disagree with Mr. D’Souza’s conclusions, if you have watched the entire movie and want to disagree then of course that’s your right. But I don’t think you will. I came out of this movie feeling depressed and angry. How could we have done this to ourselves?

Does D’Souza’s Hypocrisy Charge Against Obama Ring True?

Was it fair for Dinesh D’Souza to call President Obama a “hypocrite?” It seems Obama has repeatedly refused to aid his impoverished, slum-dwelling half-brother George—even with emergency medical care for his son, the president’s nephew.

Doug: Mr. Scam Man, A Catholic commercial? We Remember!

An old 40’s tune

Dan Roberts recorded this. Let’s see how fast it goes viral.

Subject: Mr. Scam Man…

This election is about many things, and this commercial says it fairly well…

Catholic Church running INCREDIBLE COMMERCIAL!!

I’m not of the Catholic faith, but it appears to me that they have hit the nail on the head with this video clip. Incredible commercial by the Catholic Church

When churches start running commercials…. this election is going to get hot.

Finally,

We Remember

Doug

Anti-Obama Documentary Tops New Films at Friday Box Office

“2016: Obama’s America” purports to show where the U.S. will be if the president gets a second term in office. It has sharply divided critics and moviegoers. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film rating website, only 57 percent of critics give it a favorable rating while 81 percent of moviegoers say they liked the film.

Exactly how is this fair?

Lance Armstrong’s sponsors hold on

Cycling legend stripped of his Tour de France titles

from comments:

Bikeride
  ?   +1 Good Comment 0 Poor Comment
Why only one? Is US Anti Doping Agency going to re-test all and the rest of other athletes’ blood samples?
With new methods they could and should strip all other champions and medalists of their accomplishments.
How far back should this go? 10, 20, 30, 40 years? Are all the “teammates” returning the winnings Armstrong shared with them? Looks like the 7 TDFs titles are going to really worthy and clean riders. How many of them got caught doping? All? Not fair, singled out, he was tested, they found nothing, he is still a champion!!!

Does the ridiculousness of this only seem obvious to me and “Bikeride”?

Lance Armstrong’s blood was the only athletes blood that was stored for almost a decade. How was it stored? At any time was it transferred or stored in the same type of blood storage bag that they have speculated was used for “blood doping”? The USADA didn’t exist when this “evidence” was collected, so how the H*ll could the proper chain of evidence be maintained.

I was reminded of a quote by Mark Twain, which I paraphrase: It’s un-American, it’s un-British . . . it’s French. Appropriate in this case, I think.

Watchdog: ACORN Back With 174 Rebranded Affiliates

Remember when Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) supposedly disbanded in the wake of the James O’Keefe-Hannah Giles video investigation showing ACORN, a largely government-funded entity, helping people they thought to be pimps and prostitutes avoid tax penalties for engaging in sex trafficking?

They’re back. (Actually they never left. Why would they? They have the power and authority of the POTUS and the federal government on their side.)

Natural mystery solved: That wasn’t a tsunami that devastated Japan in March

That was two tsunamis that merged far out at sea and rolled swiftly toward shore, more than 135 feet high.

That means the speeding wall of water was almost as tall as the Statue of Liberty, torch to toes

The Japanese engineers successfully built the Nuclear Power Plant to withstand the worst earthquake possible, thats what they got, and it survived. They built the seawall around the plant to stop the worst Tsunami in their history, then they got a fluke merging of TWO tsunamis that was larger than anything they could have imagined or planned for…that’s why you always need a plan “B”.

In this case, plan B could have been a backup plan to supply power for the reactor cooling pumps, or simply a decision to move the diesel backup generators out of the basement where they were flooded.

Following Japans decision this week to shut down all Nuclear Plants in their country, including the unaffected and undamaged ones, I hope they have a good Plan B to replace the lost electric power generation.  Germany made the same decision this month, with far less of a reason. But Germany has many other countries on their borders able and willing to supply the lost generated power, ironically much of the replacement power will be generated by nuclear reactors.

What will Japan do?

NYPD: 9 shooting bystander victims hit by police gunfire

Oh for Gods sake!  More and more I am coming to the conclusion that the public union police, especially in big cities, are counterproductive and too damn expensive. And in this case, obviously not very well trained in the use of firearms.

related:

Murphy’s Laws of Police Operations

By Donald Sensing Nine New Yorkers shot by cops (less than half the bullets hit the target from a reported ten feet away.)

comments therein:   Anonymous said… For years I have laughed at the assertion that only police should be allowed to carry handguns because they are trained professionals.

Consider a 2×2 box. Along one axis is Authority, ow & High. Along the other is Accountability, also Low & High.

Cops operate in a sweet spot: High Authroity, Low Accountability. When they screw up, i.e., shoot innocent bystanders, they don’t pay. The taxpayers do, via the govt entity sued.

Civilian CCWers operate in the opposite corner: Low Authority, High Accountability.

Who do you think will exercise more discretion concerning the use of deadly force?

Hingham Harbor, again.

Afternoon in August, with nothing to do but enjoy the water with a long paddle…

Left from Hingham Beach.

Crossing the harbor I observed bait fish being fed on by (I think) Shad. The group of predators circle the school of bait fish constantly, the top fins and tails of the hunters sometimes showing on the surface.

The pictures I got show the roiling waters of the action, but I didn’t catch any clear images of the fins, tails or bodies. Since it is a underwater camera I got within three feet and dipped it under and tried a shot. Hows your imagination?

Round the point of World’s End Park, south down the Weir River towards Planters Hill and the rock cliffs where (as almost exactly one year ago) I’ve photographed kids diving off the rocks.

Every show draws an audience. . .

Very little wind, good day for paddleboards I guess.

End of the line near North Cohasset.
