Non-Government Poll to deport Piers Morgan.

The cause celeb for those who don’t want to have to sign-in to Whitehouse.gov.  (I certainly don’t…)

Piers Morgan (A British Citizen), exchange with Larry Pratt, Executive Director of Gun Owners of America.

Pratt:  Your [Great Britain] violent crime rate is higher than ours as is the violent crime rate in Australia.  America is not the Wild West that you are depicting.  We only have the problem in our cities, and unhappily, in our schools where people like you have been able to get laws put on the books that keep people from being able to defend themselves.  I honestly don’t understand why you would rather have people be victims of a crime than be able to defend themselves.  It’s incomprehensible.

Morgan:  You’re an unbelievably stupid man, aren’t you?

Pratt:  The Second Amendment means what it says, and meanwhile, you want to continue laws against self-defense.  Laws that prohibit self-defense.  Laws that prohibit teachers and other faculty, other members of the administration in schools from being able to defend themselves if they have a concealed carry permit.  The laws prohibit them right now.  We have been lobbying against those laws since they were put on.  We will continue to do so, pointing out that this is where the problem is.  And for you to support them means that you’re really blind to the role that that plays in enabling murderers to operate with impunity.

Morgan:  Yes, I know — I know why sales of these weapons have been soaring in the last few days.  It’s down to idiots like you

Agree, or Dis-agree.

Piers Morgan, “Be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens.”

Then he can go home and make insulting remarks about the Queen, if he dares.

A Real Public Opinion Poll: 8,000 People a Day Join NRA After Sandy Hook

The message 8,000 new NRA members a day is sending is clear: Enough is enough. Gun control is not the answer, law-abiding citizens owning and carrying guns for their own defense is.

What “She-Who-Must-Be Obeyed” says

[Full Text] This is one of the most depressing Christmases many can remember. Many feel that way this year, and not just Libertarian-Conservatives. It seems gloomy out there.

There are many factors, Mrs. B. theorizes. A world of kids with lousy job opportunities, higher taxes, decreasing incomes, the horrors of Newtown, unemployment, the election, etc.

She is quite shrewd about politics. From a political standpoint, her view is that a tipping point has occurred. Yes, Repubs won some elections, yes, it was fairly close, etc., but her main point was the decline of marriage and the rise of childbirth outside of marriage. The single woman vote. Emily or whoever she was.

She says African-Americans and immigrant Hispanics will trend Progressive for the indefinite future because their political goal is to get stuff from the government, but that is nothing new. Not everybody understands what America is all about. Married white people, and especially married white Christians with self-reliance as a fundamental socio-cultural goal, are descending towards a minority.

Many men are no longer in any hurry to get married despite marriage’s provision of the comforts, partnership, social circles, and supports needed in life in general and for child-rearing in particular. Single women emotionally look to government for what they once looked to men for. She believes that American acceptance of dependency has reached a tipping point, predicted for over 200 years, which will forever alter American politics.

Her somewhat defeatist view is to hunker down and just to take care of your family as best you can, and to stay away from the news.

I have to agree with Mrs. B on most points, especially the last debacle i.e. the Election of 2012.  If we couldn’t win that contest after the last four disastrous years, we might not ever win another Presidential Election again. If the percentage of “voters” on the public dole plus the hopelessly deluded progressive leftwing has attained the critical mass necessary to win every future contest, then there is no hope for America.

With the progressives in control of the schools and the media when the last generation of Americans that were raised in the “old school” are gone, there will be no one left who will see and understand what we have lost. No one will be riding to the rescue.

The Fork in the Road. Updated

The Fork in the Road…Composite image Minuteman

Polybius believed that Republican Rome had designed a new form of government that could help check this inevitable decline. Rome combined all three forms of government — monarchy (its elected executives, called consuls); aristocracy (the Senate); and democracy (the popular assemblies). In this mixed form of government, each branch would check the corrupting ambitions and power of the others.

How many people know that prior to the 17th Amendment, Senators were not directly elected by popular vote. They were appointed by the States, each State being allowed to decide the method of selection. This was intended to remove the office of US Senator from the hurly burly of the popular election and allow wiser and cooler heads select a man that would be primarily concerned with defending the interests of his state.  Instead what we have today is a super-representative, just like a Congressional Representative but sits in a different room in Washington. With the rise of political parties and their primacy in controlling national elections, many (if not most) Senators are of principal loyalty to their party, not their home state.

(In reading the comments following Doug Ross’s post, I found in this comment a better phasing of my above sentiment):

Yet with the 17th Amendment, with the direct election of Senators, did we do away the “aristocracy” and create two chambers of democratic passion, the 17th amendment also decreased the power of the states.

Before the 17th amendment, states appointed Senators. So not only were Senators insulated from the daily passions of the masses, they were also beholden to protect the rights of the state versus the Federal government.

Either way, we have been and still are on the wrong course.  Power, and not just political power, is gathering, concentrating.  The Executive Branch now includes vast numbers of appointed bureaucrats. Under Obama they have reached the point that they believe they are above the law. And they are right.  The EPA ignores the rulings of State and Federal judges, the Attorney General of the United States ignores censure and instructs his Federal Attorneys to do likewise.

You could kill the current crop of power-mad incompetents and another batch would pop up to grab the reins of power. So how do we dissipate this unhealthy concentration of federal power?

End the War on Drugs. Run up the white flag, we lost.  But continuing to allow it to be the excuse for the crushing intrusion of the government into our homes and the perversion of our laws is worse, far worse. As far as I’m concerned, the government should start selling pure, uncut drugs on every street corner tomorrow. Better all around.

End the War on Terrorizing American citizens. I’m not sure that the worst the Islamic terrorists could do would be much more emasculating or costly than what we have been doing to ourselves.  Dump the new, ineffective and expensive Government Agency and admit it was a bad idea in the first place. Send all it’s employees back to whatever Institute for Sexual Perversion they came out of.

End the War on Business. What more need I say? In fact, across the board lets get rid of all “One Size Fits All” regulations and the narrow minded assholes public servants using them to ride our backs.

The problem with the Republicans, and other potential replacements for the current administration, is that they don’t especially want to see the concentration of power dissipated. They just want their turn at the wheel. (or holding the whip) So who is really interested in reining in Federal Power? The States obviously. How?   Stop sending Democrats (any Democrat) and Rhino’s to Washington, DC.

What can each of us, personally, do and starting today?  Stop watching the Boob Tube. Especially stop watching the News. It is the first link in our chains, the daily attack on our virtue and reason. It is the opiate of our minds. It is how the labels and the libels of the left are implanted; from Pink Slime to Fracking, what is is and blaming the murders of the left on the defenders of the right.

I fear that we may be the last generation to know what liberty is. I hope we don’t go down without a fight.

Update: Since I did this post, this year, the new big, stupid thing is the War On Women!  ™  Please!   Today as I write this the news from the Old World is that the nation of Iran has Hung a woman for killing her rapist, this week in another part of the Mid-East a woman was stoned to death by her neighbors and her family.   The Harridan Brigade of Elizabeth Warren don’t have the slightest idea what a real War on Women looks like.  If in fact if they get their way and dismantle the male dominated Western World (as they see it), they may get to see that real War on Women.  It will be a short fight.

…honor rejoices the heart of age

I told Doug that I could recommend reading,On Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs , but I didn’t think now would be a good time to post about it on this blog. Now I think I was wrong.

This is what changed my mind. “Here is how the sheep and the sheepdog think differently. The sheep pretend the wolf will never come, but the sheepdog lives for that day. After the attacks on September 11, 2001, most of the sheep, that is, most citizens in America said, “Thank God I wasn’t on one of those planes.” The sheepdogs, the warriors, said, “Dear God, I wish I could have been on one of those planes. Maybe I could have made a difference.”…

If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen: a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath–a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? Then you are a sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero’s path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed.

What truly horrible media coverage of the tragedy in Newtown CT. Beyond what I expected and I expected bad. Have any of the network news-dogs ever had a original thought? How can it be that none of them have thought about the remarkable coincidence that another gun-free zone or building is targeted, that the shooter is again a mentally ill person with illegally obtained guns. That there were no legally carrying adults in the building because they weren’t allowed to be there.

If most of the adults within were women, then the only remedy that would make them equal to a armed intruder, of any size or gender, was to be armed or have access to arms themselves. But access to a weapon is not enough by itself. The person would have to be at least a bit of a “Sheepdog” themselves. That’s the problem with “progressively” disarming the populace so now most of its citizens walking around are unarmed and without access to a weapon.  Out of the gun toting population many will only use their weapon to protect themselves and their family (Nothing wrong with that), only a few will bring their weapon to engage another human being in defense of someone else.

What the Massacre in Sandy Hook Proves, and What Needs to Be Done

The very existence of any person so defective, so angry, and so perverse as to choose self destruction is enormously unlikely. Someone of this sort comes along only exceedingly rarely, even in a population of 300 million. But the combination … with an active animus against small children is orders of magnitude even more unlikely. With the death of Adam Lanza, chances are pretty good that this particular rare and hyper-exotic population is extinct.

Yes, there will be more shootings. There were already this week. But to target children, first-graders only six or seven years old? To blast their bodies apart with a high-powered rifle? No, this monster was unique.

…planning and regulation can assuredly avert any possibility of the perverse operation of Fate. All undesirable and untoward events can be planned and regulated out of human existence. All we have to do is give our elite class of experts and government more power, and then we will perfectly safe.

Now, that scares me.

How about we eliminate all “Gun-Free Zones”. Offer training and extra pay to the people who are going to be in that schoolhouse (anyway) to carry a weapon on campus.

And stop going crazy about law abiding Americans owning, carrying and using guns. They are not the problem. Video games based on “scoring points” for shooting realistic images of Whites, Blacks, Women, Cops and even Kids may not be the problem either, or maybe they are. I’d start there first.

Water like glass, Sky no horizon.

To get a really thick fog there will be no wind, and when there is no wind the surface of the water will be like glass.  And then you can get images that look like this. IMG_0673 Hingham Harbor surface like gray glass

It’s all good.

UN: a new definition of “Human Rights”.

Muslim Country With 25% Slave Population Elected VP of UN Human Rights Council

The UN Human Rights Council met today in Geneva and elected Mauritania as its Vice-President and Rapporteur for the next year, the second highest position at the world’s top human rights body.

“It is obscene for the U.N. to use the occasion of Human Rights Day, when we commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, to elect the world’s worst enabler of slavery to this prestigious post,” said Hillel Neuer, UN Watch executive director.

Anyone that thinks we don’t still have black slavery in this country, explain the 97% black voter turnout for the descendent of Arab Slave Traders, after four years of worsening black employment (at a worse rate than for whites), Black real wealth and family income down and related home foreclosures in black neighborhoods.

Free men don’t vote against their own interests.

The Right lesson?

Do Civilians Armed With Guns Ever Capture, Kill, or Otherwise Stop Mass Shooters?

So it appears that civilians armed with guns are sometimes willing to intervene to stop someone who had just committed a mass shooting in public. In what fraction of mass shootings would such interventions happen, if gun possession were allowed in the places where the shootings happen? We don’t know. In what fraction would interventions prevent more killings and injuries, as opposed to capturing or killing the murderer after he’s already done? We don’t know. In what fraction would interventions lead to more injuries to bystanders? Again, we don’t know.

If a nut draws a gun in front of a American with CC and is killed (or wounded), then if that Armed American is not there would that nut commit mass murder, we don’t know. But why take the risk?

Clackamas Shooter Was Confronted by CCW Holder

The Clackamas Mall is another “Gun Free Zone”. Fortunately, a CCW Armed American ignored that. Confronted by an armed victim, the shooter killed himself.

Thinking the Unthinkable

Michael holding a butterfly

In the wake of another horrific national tragedy, it’s easy to talk about guns. But it’s time to talk about mental illness.

Update: Michigan approves concealed weapons in schools, churches

“If you have pistol free zones they are actually mass murderer empowerment zones,” said Steve Dulan, attorney for the Michigan Coalition of Responsible Gun Owners, who represents sportsman clubs throughout Michigan backing the bill.

“If you actually look at the history, even over the past 10 years in the US, you find that maybe all but one mass shooting has occurred in a so-called gun free zone,” he added.

This is sanity, this is heading in the right direction. This will be condemned by EVERYONE is the media.
