Inner tubes are going to look funny shoved up their a**

ILLINOIS: If it floats, it’s taxed

Look up “death spiral” in the dictionary and there’s a picture of Chicago’s skyline.

It now costs $6 to kayak, canoe or tube in Illinois

As of July 1, non-motorized watercraft, such as canoes, kayaks, even inner tubes, are required to have a valid “Water Usage Stamp” to float on Illinois lakes, streams and rivers.

State vendors, any business which offers hunting and fishing licenses, will sell the $6 stamp — also referred to as a “Paddle Pass” — plus a 50 cent service fee. Failure to buy one can result in a $120 fine, but it won’t be imposed right away. Owners buying stamps for more than three boats at the same time will only be charged $3 for the fourth and subsequent stamps.

The new fee is part of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources sustainability bill, which also included the $2 annual auto license plate fee hike added to help restore $18 to $20 million per year of the $50 million per year the agency had lost to recent state budget cuts.

The requirement is new for inner tube floaters, but for other non-powered watercraft like row boats and kayaks, this stamp replaces the need to apply for titles and registration in the state. The fee and sticker also are mandatory for out-of-state floating watercraft.

Not having a stamp could result in a $120 fine.

Chicago, meet Detroit. Detroit, Chicago.

What’s wrong with this sentence? “Water Usage Stamp” to float on Illinois lakes, streams and rivers.

A permit to “FLOAT?”.  What’s next, a toll gate at every intersection, on the sidewalk, for walking, $100 fine for farting without a environmental impact statement?

Race relations have plummeted since Obama took office, according to poll

Public attitudes about race relations have plummeted since the historic election of President Barack Obama, according to a new poll from NBC News and the Wall Street Journal.

Only 52 percent of whites and 38 percent of blacks have a favorable opinion of race relations in the country

By November 2011, three years after Obama’s election, only 22 percent of whites and 41 percent of African-Americans believed that race relations were fairly bad or very bad. Positive views have fallen correspondingly since November 2011, when 75 percent of whites and 57 percent of blacks said race relations were either good or very good.

Actually I can understand why Blacks are dissatisfied with the results of their efforts, though black voting turnout has reached all-time levels and helping Obama get re-elected, black unemployment remains almost twice the national level.  Barry has squandered the gift they gave him on his own ideological pursuits not (necessarily) on the improvement of the black community.

Hey brother, looks like you backed a loser!

Bottle refund

For the last twenty years I’ve been hauling (all) my deposit bottles down to the Boy Scouts and donating them.

After the BS with the BS’s accepting openly queer gay scouts I not going to do that anymore.  So, where should I bring the bottles? (enthusiastic beer drinker, by the way)

Racism

Looking for Racism in America

The ghetto farms black communities for votes and more importantly for subsidies. For every dollar that is taken to help minorities, a penny goes to the problem and ninety-nine cents goes to the hucksters, the administrators, the bureaucrats, the wives of influential pols hired on massive salaries to oversee some aspect of the program, the experts who monitor compliance, the affirmative action contractors who charge four times as much to build a school or provide meals, the unions who have the exclusive right to service the program, the slumlords who administer affordable housing and finally the politicians who have the money kicked back to them by all of the above.

What a contemptible fool, and what a stupid thing to say.

Trayvon Martin could have been me 35 years ago

xseventeen-year-old-trayvon-martin.jpg.pagespeed.ic.jFQRK4hC4J

I wish you were him now!

Exactly what similarities is Barry referring to? The drugs in his system, the pictures of guns and (nude) underage girls on his cellphone? The multiple suspensions from school for punching students, school bus drivers, drugs and drug paraphernalia? It’s frightening to realize that the President of the United States is so out of touch with the values of 90% of the citizens of this country that he could say something so completely stupid.

Doesn’t that idiot get it? Everybody wants to put this idiocy behind us. It’s cost George Zimmerman, the (really) innocent victims around the country of mindless black rage (is there any other kind?). It cost the Sanford Police Chief and a courageous forensic technician their jobs when they refused to “go along” with the politics of race pandering.

And as a “stern warning” about the rioting in some black areas around the country,

…he understands that protests may have to “work (their) way through.

Can’t deny the brothers their “fun“, can we?

It’s frustrating that I’ve already hit bottom in my regard and the ceiling in my contempt for this..this….THIS……..

Forget it, words fail me. They just up and die.

Ah Shit!

Vaccines against Lyme Disease: What Happened and What Lessons Can We Learn?

Gregory A. Poland, MD, Depts of Medicine and Molecular Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine

Abstract

This article reviews events that led to the withdrawal of the only vaccine to prevent Lyme disease licensed in the United States. The primary issues that led to the vaccine’s withdrawal appear to be a combination of vaccine safety concerns, sparked by a molecular mimicry hypothesis that suggested that the vaccine antigen, outer surface protein A, serves as an autoantigen and hence was arthritogenic; concerns raised by anti-vaccine groups regarding vaccine safety; vaccine cost; a difficult vaccination schedule and the potential need for boosters; class action lawsuits; uncertainty regarding risk of disease; and low public demand. This article reviews lessons learned from these events and proposes that future candidate Lyme disease vaccines are unlikely to be developed, tested, and used within the United States in the near future, thus leaving at-risk populations unprotected.

Count me among the at-risk population, I’ve had it and it was rough, the area around me is thick with deer and their ticks. If I continue to live here I’m near certain to contract it again.  But if I get a dog, I can protect him…

Why Your Dog Can Get Vaccinated Against Lyme Disease And You Can’t

Why? The anti-vaccine groups…

Introduced in 1998, the vaccine sold well at first. But then opponents spoke out: self-described ‘vaccine victims’ — perhaps similar to people today who claim the MMR vaccine causes autism. Back then, they said that the Lyme vaccine gave them arthritis.

“And this sort of got into popular lore,” Poland recalls. “It got on the Internet. There were a number of East Coast lawyers who started putting together class-action lawsuits. There were anti-vaccine advocacy groups that were formed.”

And there were threats against the scientists who had worked to help protect people against the disease. Poland had to hide where he lived. Steere got a security detail.

The clinical data did not back up any of this. The trials had not shown such side effects. The Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control looked into the claims, and then continued to recommended that people exposed to tick-infested areas get the vaccine.

Sick, ain’t it? Studies done failed to confirm any link from the vaccine to autism or arthritis, didn’t matter. Internet rumors and talk show couch queens trump science.

The morale to the story is, if you want to be taken seriously don’t go get a PhD in science or medicine, get a pair of 36DD breasts.

Jenny McCarthy’s hiring as ‘View’ co-host is matter of contention

Critics are outraged that Jenny McCarthy, who has led an ongoing campaign against childhood vaccinations, has been hired as a co-host for ABC’s ‘The View.’

The anti-vaccine hysteria that McCarthy has helped to whip up has already claimed the lives of more than 700 children, according to the website JennyMcCarthyBodyCount.com. That website relies on data from the Centers for Disease Control that show that between June 2007 and May 2011 there were 78,981 preventable illnesses and 727 preventable deaths of children who could have been vaccinated but weren’t.
