Still not a gun blog presents, the perfect comeback!

What a great comeback to a typical, modern, politically correct idiot journalist…
Stupid Question… Excellent Answer!

For those that don’t know him, Major General Peter Cosgrove is an Australian.
General Cosgrove was interviewed on the radio recently. Read his reply to the lady who interviewed him concerning guns and children.
Regardless of how you feel about gun laws you have to love this!
This is one of the best comeback lines of all time.
This is a portion of an ABC radio interview between a female broadcaster and General Cosgrove who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military Headquarters.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
So, General Cosgrove, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base?

GENERAL COSGROVE:
We’re going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery and shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
Shooting! That’s a bit irresponsible, isn’t it?

GENERAL COSGROVE:
I don’t see why, they’ll be properly supervised on the rifle range.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
Don’t you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children?

GENERAL COSGROVE:
I don’t see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER:
But you’re equipping them to become violent killers.

GENERAL COSGROVE:
Well, Ma’am, you’re equipped to be a prostitute, but you’re not one, are you?

The broadcast went silent for 46 seconds and when it returned, the interview was over.

God I would pay money to have seen her face…
I bet it would have made lemon juice look like honey.
Long live the Aussie’s

The Answer is that we are bone-deep stupid, lazy POS that don’t deserve this country.

That’s the answer to the question; Why haven’t any incumbents lost even one primary this year?

Americans might be mad as hell at Congress—but they’re going to keep taking it.

Consider these two facts:

1: Congressional approval is at 11 percent, as measured by the latest Allstate/National Journal Heartland Monitor Poll.

2: Exactly zero incumbent candidates—for the Senate or House—have lost a primary race in this midterm cycle. In Tuesday’s congressional primaries, incumbents went 45 for 45, and establishment Republicans won easy victories against their tea-party rivals. Despite how much voters say they hate the current Congress, they still like them better than their primary challengers.

We won’t fight, think or even vote the bastards out.  I’m ashamed, why aren’t you?

Well the Hell with it.  I’m done voting for the lesser of two evils.   I hope the McConnell’s of the world enjoy their victories…and choke on them.

I’m not voting for any McConnell, even if I have to write my own name in.  GD it, where is the drummer on the green?

Doug: Some of best aerial combat fighting tactics witnessed by a fighter pilot was above his corn field.

This came from a gent who runs a 2,000-acre corn farm up around Barron, WI, not far from Oshkosh. He used to fly F-4Es and F-16s for the Guard, and participated in the first Gulf War.

His story:

I went out to plant corn for a bit, to finish a field before tomorrow morning and witnessed The Great Battle. A golden eagle — big, with about a six-foot wingspan – flew right in front of the tractor. It was being chased by three crows that were continually dive bombing it and pecking at it. The crows do this because the eagles rob their nests when they find them.

At any rate, the eagle banked hard right in one evasive maneuver, then landed in the field about 100 feet from the tractor. This eagle stood about 3 feet tall. The crows all landed too and took up positions around the eagle at 120 degrees apart, but kept their distance at about 20 feet from the big bird. The eagle would take a couple steps towards one of the crows and they’d hop backwards and forward to keep their distance. Then the reinforcement showed up.

I happened to spot the eagle’s mate hurtling down out of the sky at what appeared to be approximately Mach 1.5. Just before impact, the eagle on the ground took flight, (obviously a coordinated tactic; probably pre-briefed) and the three crows that were watching the grounded eagle also took flight — thinking they were going to get in some more pecking on the big bird.

The first crow being targeted by the diving eagle never stood a snowball’s chance in hell. There was a mid-air explosion of black feathers, and that crow was done.

The diving eagle then banked hard left in what had to be a 9G climbing turn, using the energy it had accumulated in the dive, and hit crow #2 less than two seconds later. Another crow dead.

The grounded eagle, which was now airborne and had an altitude advantage on the remaining crow that was streaking eastward in full burner, made a short dive, then banked hard right when the escaping crow tried to evade the hit. It didn’t work – crow #3 bit the dust at about 20 feet AGL.

This aerial battle was better than any air show I’ve been to, including the War Birds show at Oshkosh. The two eagles ripped the crows apart, and ate them on the ground; and, as I got closer and closer working my way across the field, I passed within 20 feet of one of them as it ate its catch. It stopped and looked at me as I went by, and you could see in the look of that bird that it knew who’s Boss of the Sky. What a beautiful bird!

I loved it. Not only did they kill their enemy, they ate them. One of the best Fighter Pilot stories I’ve seen in a long time.

the only way it could end

Loose Goose

As I’ve mentioned it is a quirk of the avian species that when I’m trying to photograph them on the river (where they are faster than I) any closer than 100 yards and they are off.   Often, on land, (where I am faster than them) you can get quite close…

IMG_0362 Ive been spotted

Time stamp 1:28PM at 22 seconds.

But this is ridiculous. IMG_0363 quick IMG_0364 I think he wants somethingIMG_0365 thats a little close

Timestamp 1:29PM at 12 seconds. Elapsed Time 50 Seconds, faster than I could change the zoom factor.

At this point I had to stop taking pictures, after briefly looking up me, Goosie came around to my left and tried to get his/her beak into my pocket.   Yah think someone (who looks like me) has been feeding my friend here?

We danced around a bit and finally the message was received that I wasn’t going to feed anybody today.  But he didn’t leave just went about his business without so much as another glance.IMG_0366 Hi buddy whats upI hope nobody or nothing harms him, I wish he wasn’t so trusting of people.

Word “Pussy” is now retired as a insult.

The dismissive disparagement of referring to a gutless, easily frightened man as a “pussy” is being retired.

PS… The dog that bit the little boy was taken to the Animal Control and due to the fact that it continued to exhibit aggressive behavior it was put to death.  The cat was contacted for comment…5

Oh for crying out loud! Fencing banned at College?

University weapons policy forces fencing club from campus

  • Despite having no pointed tips or sharp blades, NDSU classifies the club’s equipment as weapons.
  • The university doesn’t permit the use of weapons on campus. As such, the club is currently practicing elsewhere.

Looks like the pen is still mightier than the sword.

The newly formed fencing club at North Dakota State University (NDSU) cannot practice on campus thanks to the university’s weapons policy.

“The current interpretation of the non-weapon policy in NDSU…understands our fencing equipment as weapons,” Enrique Alvarez, the club’s coach, told Valley News Live.

The swords the club uses have no sharp points or blades. The tips are flat and spring-loaded. Still, the university deems them weapons; as such, possession or use of the swords is prohibited on university owned or controlled property.

Though the club may have been foiled in its desire to practice on campus, the group hasn’t retreated. Instead, it’s hosting practices at the Fargo-Morehead Fencing Club at Grace Lutheran School in Fargo, though attendance is a concern.

“We have only a small hand full who practice on a regular basis and we feel that’s largely due to not being able to practice on campus,” club Vice President Jaime Jensen said.

En Garde!

I fenced at College,  I mean for God’s sake they let you hit girls with that “Weapon”.   I’m adding a new category in honor of this one, “You Can’t fix Stupid”.

I also did the SCA bit, briefly, and those bouts were tougher than rugby.

Do you know? Or do you take Amazons word on it?

Do You Know What’s Going in Your Amazon Shopping Cart?

For Faster Shipping, Items Are Commingled at Warehouses, Opening the Door to Knockoffs

The phenomenon doesn’t just reflect a problem with unsavory sellers. It is also a result of the way Amazon manages inventory in its network of warehouses across the U.S. As more third-party sellers have signed up to offer products through Amazon and use its order-fulfillment services, the Seattle-based giant has allowed many to pool their inventory with supposedly identical items supplied by other sellers—in essence commingling products from third-party merchants with those supplied directly to Amazon by the brands themselves.

In other words, a product ordered from a third-party seller may not have originated from that particular seller. If the bar code matches, any one that is on the shelf will do

As Amazon has gotten bigger I’m having more and more troubles with it.  Example, for Mother’s Day I purchased a Authorized League “Mother’s Day Commemorative” baseball in a clear display case.  Gift wrapped.   The gift wrap was apparently a mistake, the ball was probably wrapped by a robot but the gift label and note was apparently applied by a human, slightly off-center and affixed with one last fist bump…that cracked the top of the display case. Minor issue and Amazon immediately reshipped but I’m getting more and more of them.  And I’m wondering if at some point Amazon is going to get tried of making good.   Sometimes they don’t,  last month I received a double order, two books of the same title,  I ordered one.  The second order popped up two days after I ordered the first copy.  Unless I’m finally going wacko, I didn’t order the second but Amazon and the third-party bookseller  buckscountybooks2893 insisted I had and bucks county books would only process a return and credit if I paid return postage (about half the amount of the credit for the return).   So I didn’t return the second book and instead made a donation to the local thrift store.

Well, I’m just rambling here.   I made a more cogent post about my personal problems with Amazon back here

The thought occurs to me

Chinese experts ‘in discussions’ over building high-speed Beijing-US railway

‘China-Russia-Canada-America line’ would run for 13,000km across Siberia and pass under Bering Strait through 200km tunnel

As the story says, the Chinese didn’t say that they had talked to the Russian or American Governments about this yet…

Putin is tough, yes that is admitted.  And he is pulling Barry’s pantaloons up over his head and more than a few people are grinning over that.  But after you back tough and shrewd out of the discussion the question remains is this really smart?  Within the next ten to twenty years demographics indicate that Russia is going to be a mess.  Lots of old Russians, not many (not enough) young Russians, the educational shortcomings are going to be biting them in the ass, and Russia’s untapped mineral resources are in a under-populated region closer to their historical enemy China (forget WWII, think Tartars and Mongols).  Russia in the post-Putin era is going to be in serious need of friends and allies, twenty years ago when NATO began to make entreaties to the former Warsaw Pact countries to join NATO I figured that was a great deal for Russia.  In fact (amateur political scientist, me) thought, after some serious thought, that it was the only chance that Russia had to retain it’s western half without going to nuclear war with a country that they had no hope of beating in a long term conventional war.

After the last year and where-ever this all goes in the next year to come, if Russia fights China, the European and American countries and their markets will be stepping all over each other to sell the Chinese the materials and technology to exploit their new provinces. If the Russians allow Putin to continue to alarm and antagonize the Western Democracies long enough,   well, they had better start learning to speak Mandarin.

The Outdoor Co-ed Topless Pulp Fiction Appreciation Society

“I would never join a club that would have me as a member”… Not this time.

“Conversation ensued … Photos were taken. Relaxation was had. Why can’t every Saturday be a naked-with-friends-in-the-sun Saturday?” they write on their blog.

I’m not entirely clear why reading and toplessness go together, but I can’t help but warm to the evident fun the book group is having in the pairing (check out the pictures on their blog – although possibly not while you’re at work). I emailed founder A Andrews to ask what was behind it all; she told me that “four summers ago, my best friend and I were talking about the law in New York that says women are free to go topless anywhere a man can, and about the fact that no women ever did. It clearly wasn’t because no woman would ever want to – when it’s 90 degrees outside, who wouldn’t rather be bare-chested than suffering under a shirt and bra? But most women didn’t know they had this right, and those who did were often afraid to take advantage of it. So we decided to create a group to combat that ignorance and fear. We made it a book club because we loved books and loved hanging out with other people who loved books.  And it’s been going strong ever since.”

A business plan for the American Military

THIS IS SERIOUSLY GETTING UGLY: Boko Haram commits another mass abduction of girls in Nigeria.

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC ON BOKO HARAM: “The death toll is usually claimed to be in the thousands, but no one has an accurate tally, in part because the Nigerian government misreports incidents and in part because in its hapless pursuit of Boko Haram, the government has killed so many people itself, many if not most of them civilians. The Nigerian armed forces claim that they kill only terrorists, yet the terrorists’ ravages become more frequent and more vicious with every such claim. So vast and mysterious is the carnage, many otherwise sane Nigerians have come to believe Boko Haram possesses supernatural powers. Its name has taken on an incantatory power. It has become a kind of national synonym for fear.”

Gordon Dickson…The Dorsai.

SCIFI…the Dorsai, a splinter culture based on the planet of the same name, which has specialized in producing the very best soldiers. Since each splinter culture specializes in a specific area of expertise, a system of trade labour contracts between the cultures allows each planet to hire the expertise they need.

So, are you thinking what I’m thinking?   Nigeria has oil and other mineral wealth, but their national armed forces can’t help but do more harm than good.  The ruling tribe of that nation (nation…to be generous) knows that if the Muslim Jihadists overthrow them they will be lucky to not end up in a slave coffle themselves.

Perhaps the USA should embrace the Suck and realize that the US Military is the only export besides corn and wheat that is valued and wanted by a lot of the world’s peoples.

How much could we charge the Nigerians to deploy a few SF regiments (or Marines, or Seals) and clean out their little problem. They got oil, we got efficient, effective, disciplined soldiers. Lets make a deal!
God knows there isn’t a nation in Africa that still wants UN peacekeepers to come in, they never actually fight anyone. Though it always seems that a lot of civilians get raped, robbed or killed by UN soldiers. Unless it’s the Scandinavians, they don’t kill Anyone! But they clean up the trash and build some nice roads and septic systems while they are there.

As long as we don’t try to push Democracy or any of that equal rights crap they would love to see us! Oh, and leave SecState John Kerry at home too. (Unless there’s a shortage of bayonet dummies)

This is the next Progressive Tool?

HILLARY FOUGHT TO KEEP BOKO HARAM OFF TERROR LIST

Clinton said that as Secretary of State she had numerous meetings with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and had urged the Nigerian government to do more on counterterrorism. What Clinton didn’t mention was that her own State Department refused to place Boko Haram on the list of foreign terrorist organizations in 2011, after the group bombed the UN headquarters in Abuja. The refusal came despite the urging of the Justice Department, the FBI, the CIA, and over a dozen Senators and Congressmen.”

Hillary: No reason to continue Benghazi probe

ABC News’ Robin Roberts asked former secretary of state Hillary Clinton about the Benghazi attacks: ‘Were you satisfied with the answers and are you content with what you know what happened?’ ‘Absolutely,’ she said. ‘I mean, of course there are a lot of reasons why, despite all of the hearings, all of the information that’s been provided, some choose not to be satisfied and choose to continue to move forward.

On the procedural end-around used to pass the law

The Affordable Care Act is back at center stage in the courts on Thursday with yet another legal challenge that aims to derail President Obama’s massive health care reform law. Rather than attacking the individual mandate or the so-called contraceptive mandate, this lawsuit challenges a legislative maneuver used by Senate majority leader Harry Reid (D) of Nevada to pass the bill five years ago. The little-noticed legal battle is being waged by a conservative public interest law group, the Pacific Legal Foundation (PLF). It seeks to enforce a constitutional command: “All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives.” Lawyers for the group charge that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was first passed by the Senate and only later approved by the House in violation of the Constitution’s Origination Clause.

This was brought up when the Supreme Court declined to strike down Obama-Care on the basis that it was a tax.   Two things cannot be denied; one, that this is an odd method to strike down a existing law and two, it cannot be questioned that Harry Reid (may his soul burn in Hell) railroaded this bill through by illegal means.  A pity that there was no conservative duelist to match his steel in the Congress at the time.

During this election season, many a Democrat will confess that they made a mistake with their earlier support for the bill and if returned to Congress they will work hard to repeal the bill, or if that is not possible they will support “fixing” it.   Republicans too.  Truth is, many in Congress are very happy with Obama-Care as it exists.   It puts a large chunk of the US economy squarely in the hands of the Government, their hands.  The private sector jobs in Health Insurance will become Federal jobs, the wealthy CEO’s and Presidents will be replaced with political appointees (perhaps even retired Congressmen !).   So, yes.  The (Un)Affordable Care Act is working out, for them, not for us.  So? What are you going to do about it?
