Just my opinion.

Lockdown vs Economy.

Dr. Fauci is an expert in allergies and infectious diseases. He’s not an economist – and called the economic problems “an inconvenience”. He fails to understand the consequences of his recommendations.  Starvation, suicide, medical death from untreated conditions, etc…  (See previous )

It seems to me that the logical way to proceed with the restarting of the economy is to ‘request’, not order, those workers or employees ages 20 to 50 years of age to be organized to go back to work now.  They have the lowest likely mortality rates, and the mildest disease progression.

Necessary supervisors or expert technical and individuals with special knowledge above that age group could work remotely, but at least they would have hands, on hand, to guide when needed.

At least it’s a way to keep their companies in business and hopefully have a job to come back to someday.  And prevent the warehouses that we are currently drawing down from going ‘dry’.

This insistence by certain politicians on a ongoing, complete shutdown for months to come is nothing more than a repeat of the deliberate crashing of the economy in 2008 to ensure the election of the unelectable Barack Obama.   And as in  2009, we will be unpleasantly surprised to find out that the new Democrat in office has no idea (or much interest) in fixing the failed economy.  Just to continue to punish those he sees as his opponents, Non-Democrats, businessmen, any conservative and mainly middle-class white Americans.

Suicide, starvation, and heart attacks.

Is unemployment really as deadly as coronavirus?

And, of course, there will be a lot of financial troubles for those who don’t die. But let’s just look at just the death rate.

The actual figure in academic research is a 37,000 increase for each percentage-point rise in the unemployment rate. It comes from a book called “Corporate Flight: The Causes and Consequences of Economic Dislocation” by Barry Bluestone, Bennett Harrison and Lawrence Baker.

“Corporate Flight” was published in 1982 and mainly had to do with companies moving operations overseas. I couldn’t reach Bluestone, Harrison or Baker, but last week I was able to contact Wade Thomas, who teaches economics and business at SUNY Oneonta and who quoted those figures in his own co-written 2005 book called “Economic Issues Today: Alternative Approaches.”

Here’s the paragraph from Thomas’ book that applies: “According to one study [the one by Bluestone et al.] a 1 percent increase in the unemployment rate will be associated with 37,000 deaths [including 20,000 heart attacks], 920 suicides, 650 homicides, 4,000 state mental hospital admissions and 3,300 state prison admissions.”

And in my opinion, the single worst casualty, The Constitution and our Rights.

Not Surprised.

‘The Evil Called Barack Obama’ and the Genocidal Slaughter of Nigerian Christians

Most recently, Femi Fani-Kayode, Nigeria’s former minister of culture and tourism, wrote in a Facebook post:

What Obama, John Kerry and Hilary Clinton did to Nigeria by funding and supporting Buhari in the 2015 presidential election and helping Boko Haram in 2014/2015 was sheer wickedness and the blood of all those killed by the Buhari administration, his Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram over the last 5 years are on their hands.

Kerry’s and Clinton’s appeasement of Boko Haram—an Islamic terror organization notorious for massacring, enslaving, and raping Christians, and bombing and burning their churches—is apparently what connects them to this “sheer wickedness.”

On March 23, 2015, President Obama himself took the unusual step of releasing a video message directly to Nigerians all but telling them how to vote… Those who understood subliminal language deciphered that he was prodding the electorate to vote for the [Buhari/Muslim-led] opposition to form a new government…  The message was so condescending, it was as if Nigerians did not know what to do and needed an Obama to direct them.

Between 2011 and 2015, and supposedly because they were angry at having a Christian president, Boko Haram slaughtered thousands of Christians, particularly those living in the Muslim majority north, and destroyed countless churches. In 2015—and thanks to Obama—Nigeria’s Muslims finally got what they want: a Muslim president in the person of Muhammadu Buhari.

Thus according to a March 8, 2020 report titled, “Nigeria: A Killing Field of Defenseless Christians,”

Barack Obama asked a fortune teller if she knew when he would die.
She said “You will die on a Christian holiday”.

” Which one he asked?”
“Doesn’t matter” she replied “The day you die will be a Christian holiday!”

There was a Chinese Bat Flu positive in one of our plants so wouldn’t you know it, even though the plants are still running (a good thing), we office workers were sent to work from home (mixed feelings on that one). As such I did what all people who “work” from home do — I spent copious hours of the day browsing the internet, meaning that of course I spent copious amounts of time reading the articles and comments here.

One thing caught my eye in particular — Reynold’s post about his latest USA Today article (nice job, by the way) where he said the following at the end of his post:

“I’ll just add that one thing that has appalled me — in the comments here, on social media, and well, everywhere — is that so many people dealing with a situation full of uncertainty and unreliable data are so dead-certain of their positions and so abusive of people who disagree. And that’s certainly true of both sides in this debate.”

I don’t disagree with that but I do have a somewhat contrarian thought about the “so many people dealing with a situation full of uncertainty and unreliable data are so dead-certain of their positions” part.

To back up a bit, although I’m not on our company’s “Coronavirus Task Force”, I am in a position where those on the task force will listen to what I have to say (although they rejected out of hand my suggestion to name it the “Chinese Bat Flu Task Force”). Anyway, when we got the confirmed positive the first instinct of the task force was to panic and start issuing all sorts of draconian edicts. I weighed in by emailing the following to the task force leaders:

“Regarding the suggested measures in response to the confirmed Covid positive: What was the original reason for social distancing and the shutdowns? To flatten the curve. And what is the purpose of flattening the curve? Not to eradicate the disease but to spread it out over time so that the number of cases requiring hospitalization at any given point in time won’t overwhelm the capacity of the medical community to handle those cases.

“The country has so far achieved that goal such that in NYC, the hottest of the hot spots by far, the 2,500 bed field hospital set up by the military at the Javits Center and the 1,000 bed Navy hospital ship USNS Comfort have been so underutilized that the military medical personnel have instead been deployed into the city hospitals to help out where they can. Hospitals throughout the rest of the country are now furloughing staff due to far lower Covid cases than expected.

“Bear this in mind as you move forward in addressing our evolving circumstances. It was inevitable that we’d see a Covid case here, and we’ll almost certainly see more. But the broader goals across the country to handle those cases are being met and, many would argue, vastly exceeded. Under these circumstances I fail to see the rationale for taking some of the suggested measures that would be damaging to our company and our customers.”

Back to Reynold’s point I mentioned above, while there is much uncertainty about the Chinese Bat Flu, there are also some certainties. One of them that I’m dead-certain of is that we’re quite obviously and ostentatiously moving the goalposts on our own selves. The goals of flattening the curve are being met and, again, vastly exceeded compared to the harsh doom and gloom projections that held sway at the beginning of this crisis, and apparently hold sway still despite the mounting reliable data against them.

Yes, there is more than enough anger to go around. And yes, it shouldn’t be happening during a global crisis where we should all be pulling together. But not all anger is equal. Some anger is justified and some is not. The anger on one side is a determination to start moving back toward normalcy within the context of the American people meeting and exceeding the stated goals of flattening the curve, while the anger on the other side is “There will be mass death unless we institute even more restrictions, hospital capacity numbers be damned, the economy and peoples’ livelihoods be damned. So just shut up and do what we say.” That cannot stand. It will not stand.

Quote of the day: Everybody must play by MY rules!

Florida has beaten coronavirus, in all but one area — Miami Dade. A city which just so happens to receive a lot of visitors from plague-riddled New York City.

But apparently the rest of Florida must observe Miami Dade’s lockdown rules, just as Montana must observe New York City’s lockdown rules.

And by the way: I think we’d love that. New York City, the biggest hotspot in America, is exempting itself from the rules it demands for counties in which only a dozen people have had coronavirus.

Regards to NYC, I hope they all die.  Yeah, Harsh.  But screw the ballot harvesting self important jack-offs.

Oh Shit!

Massachusetts seen as a new coronavirus hot spot as cases surge

Cases of coronavirus surged in Massachusetts, creating a new hot spot for the virus, as officials scramble to beef up hospital capacities for the influx of patients.

The state now has the third-highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country, with 38,077 positive cases— behind New York and New Jersey respectively.

“We’re right in the middle of the surge now,” the state’s Republican governor, Charlie Baker, said Sunday on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.”

I guess we aren’t getting out of this anytime soon, in fact, I expect the nanny state to double down on their control freak.

Four inches of Global Warming overnight.

I think we should seriously re-think sacrificing a virgin, if we can find one.  a Democrat.

I mean, April 18th?
