He then went to work for a “private security firm”. How he got caught up in Russia I have no idea but stop holding him up as some kind of maligned US citizen. He does not even get Veterans Benefits with that kind of discharge.

I had to go to the BBC site to find any reference to his bad conduct discharge. Odd that is not being widely touted as an factor in choosing Griner over him for exchange. No details. I’d be interested in seeing more about that.
However I think the main point is the release of a seriously dangerous man, a Russian arms dealer that supplies our active enemies, for a woman that hates America and did commit the crime for which she was imprisoned.
But the only groups that approve of the deal seem to be LGBT Activists and fellow travelers. Whelan is a side issue, rather brought up after the fact.

I generally agree with you. I understand there are more Americans being held in Russia. And by the way, Brittany is a man pretending to be a woman. So for the pervs that make up the Biden admin he is a perfect choice.
