Amazon Marketplace is the new Thieves Market…

First, I’m not stupid.  I thought this was a bogus offer from the first; the price was too low, the seller was too new, the 100% rating was suspect.

First I should mention that I risked no money only Amazon ‘points’ accrued from a credit card.  Second that the 100% positive position rating for the vendor couldn’t be verified since Amazon removed the ability to look at the user accounts of those users ‘rating’ this company.   (on that, the first three ‘ratings’ for Dempsey Books were all 5 star, which gave them an initial “Excellent” rating)  Amazon has also removed any connection or link to Amazon to get them involved in a deal or purchase gone bad.

So, ordered April 12th.  First “Shipped” date, April 14th.  However the first “EMS” tracking number was bogus.

Second tracking number comes up as “private, cannot be tracked”, that is a new one on me.

Still Amazon will not get involved, the only action they will give you is for YOU to cancel the order yourself.  Then you see, it’s not them, it’s you!

When the latest date of the ‘shipment’ came, then the ‘Now Expected’ date is pushed back another week.   How long will Amazon allow this farrago of deception and fraud to go on?

Well, as long as this charade goes on I am not buying anything from Amazon, points or cash.  If I didn’t need an active Amazon account to continue to have access to perviously purchased digital movies, books and music; I would cancel Amazon at last.

Update…

I finally contacted Amazon by dragging my butt through the Help/Contact tree (Hint: keep selecting ‘Other’).   They emailed the transcript.

Hello,

Here’s a copy of the chat transcript you requested:

Initial Question: The tracking number is bogus, the item has never shipped, the ‘Seller’ does not respond (frankly I think the whole thing is someones idea of a prank) and Amazon makes it very hard to contact them.
This item was going to be paid for with points, are the points still held or can the points be debited in the future?

05:24 PM PDT Geeth(Amazon): Hello, my name is Geeth. I’m here to help you today.
I am sorry that you had to face this issue .
I’ll try my best to help you regarding this .
May I know what is the order ID of the item ?
05:25 PM PDT John …: It isn’t in front of you? It was where I started.
05:25 PM PDT Geeth: John are you referring to Orbi Home WiFi System. Up to 5000sqft AC3000 Tri-Band WiFi (RBK50) By NETGEAR [WiFi Router & Satellite] ?
05:25 PM PDT John …: I went back to the product page.
05:26 PM PDT John …:
Order #
111-6214772-0537847

05:29 PM PDT John …: still there?
05:30 PM PDT Geeth: Yes John .
John I’ve checked the details .
05:31 PM PDT Geeth: Since the product was out of stock of the seller’s inventory the order was cancelled and refund was issued for it .
05:31 PM PDT John …l: If the order was cancelled then it would not still be showing as a active order that had shipped.
05:32 PM PDT John …: That explanation is insulting.
05:33 PM PDT John ..: You cannot ‘refund’ points. If the order is active then the points can be deducted.
05:34 PM PDT John …: The order has spent two weeks with a status of ‘shipped’. The tracking number is bogus.
05:35 PM PDT John …: You are only trying to force me to cancel the order so it is my decision not an error on your part.
It will a long time before I order anything on your marketplace again.

…and later another email from ‘Geeth’.

“The chat ‘lost connection’ because after the last line I typed nothing came back from ‘Geeth’ (what part of the world is that a common name?), I finally hung up. Several days later this order is still active and that is about it.
