Ebola virus is spreading ‘exponentially’ in Liberia, health chiefs warn, as British and American troops head to Africa to help set up treatment centres

Losing American troops to disease or African Islamic Militants is the same as to IED’s in Afghanistan.  Dead is Dead.  It isn’t my call whither or not this is an appropriate use of American troops.  If it was my decision I think I’d ask for volunteers, not just give an order.  Our men make a commitment to risk death or injury to defend the USA, at times US troops have taken the field in the US to help our own people during natural disasters.  Sending them to any African country because that country is FUBAR?   NFW.

But if George W. Bush had done it?

What about, no, what happened to the Billions of Dollars, Marks, and Pounds sent to that region expressly for the purpose of creating the medical infrastructure so desperately needed today?   How about this?  For every UK or US trooper sent into harms way we get to hang one corrupt, venal, African politician or bureaucrat?  Yeah, bring lots and lots of rope.

    Progressives wet dream, a military transformed into a unit of the Peace Corp. Aid, aka redistribution of wealth. The billions are in the pockets of the regional Mugabe(s) like it is here in the big cities. Another security risk, another disaster-in-the-making. The now common reverse Midas effect.

  2. My concern is echoed by some in the military establishment;

    However, a Defense Department source told Fox News that alarms had been raised about the decision.

    “We don’t need to be taking planners away from the CT [counterterrorism] mission, and that is what is going on,” the Defense Department source said.

      When you’re dealing with subversives, I guess the sky’s the limit. My question would be, just how far can the bastards go? Is there a fail-safe? I’ve seen first-hand how destructive these individuals can be on a much lesser level, such as at a job, or in the lower ranks of the military, and getting rid of them can be a challenge, but just don’t know what restraints exist for someone at the very top. I realize the goal is to inflict irreparable damage to the republic, but certainly not everyone cashing a gummint check is on board?
