A staff member at a middle school in Nevada was shot and killed while trying to protect children after a student arrived on campus Monday and started opening fire, police say.
Police said between 150 and 200 officers responded to the shooting.
No armed guards, the brave staff member who tried to intervene was unarmed and killed. Now lets say that of the couple of hundred officers that will descend on the school, (after the fact), and will spend the rest of their shift on site will equal (200 police staying 5.4 hrs) the hours necessary to cover the school with an ARMED officer for the entire school year (approx. 180 days and 6 hours active class time). Or course that is assuming that they are actually interested in doing anything as crazy as putting their (lone) body between a armed maniac and helpless kids. It is safer to arrive after the fact in company of a couple hundred armed friends.
Or they could follow this example…

Arkansas private school: ‘Staff is armed and trained’
…or this.
