Not unexpected, but it still makes me angry.

West Point expected to be ordered to take down portrait of Robert E. Lee

A congressionally established commission is likely to recommend the removal, sources say.

Trump administration named four individuals to the commission … President Joe Biden’s Defense secretary, Austin, removed all of these members.

Robert E. Lee is in the bones and the heart of West Point.  He was it’s Commandant prior to the opening of the Civil War.  He is the graduate with perhaps it’s finest record of accomplishments.   Not just in the Civil War, but as a young officer in the Mexican War.  He was in command when the Harpers Ferry insurrection of John Brown occurred.   And he beat on the battlefield almost every other graduate of West Point during the Civil War.

In his abilities, his deportment (old value concerning character, look it up), his personal courage, his victories;  he is one of the greatest and finest Americans that ever lived.

By this act, West Point and America isn’t disgracing Robert E. Lee, that is far beyond their power.  West Point and the current generation of radical sycophant’s are disgracing and exposing themselves.

Robert E. Lee if he were alive today would probably accept the insult with his stoic grace.  But I’m made of more common stuff, I’ll rage about it for him.

2+2=5 in California

An appellate court in California has held that bumblebees are fish. . .

So this probably affects us out here in the ag fields.

It takes 35 pages of tortured logic in an opinion that reads like a parody, but the court concludes that bumblebees indeed are fish within the meaning of California’s environmental laws. I take it that all other insects, by the court’s logic, are also fish.I cite this decision as a warning to those who repose faith in our courts to check the excesses of the political branches. See also: Michael Sussman.

Bumblebee PDIS Pia2.jpgI’d imagine the point is to ban most of the commercial spraying of pesticides on farmland.  Organic you know is ‘goodthink’.   Get ready for anything grown in Cali to jump in price and drop in availability.

Make America Great Again.

BOTH,  Donald Trump and Joe Biden are capable of making America great again.

Donald Trump by returning to the White House in 2024 as President.

Joe Biden by leaving the White House…

tomorrow would be good.

Scott sums up.

Scott Adams
@ScottAdamsSays

We learned two things this month:

1. Everything you suspected was true.

2. No one will be held responsible. – Clinton ran the Russia collusion hoax– Voting machine were hackable – Transitory inflation was a lie – Mask mandates don’t work (NYTs article) – Biden family = crooks

Well, I count seven things, but why quibble.

Lost Graves. Reposted from 2019.

A Find A Grave photo request has just been made in your area. If you are able to take this photograph, please read the ‘Instructions for Photographers’ paragraph at the end of this email.

Name: Edmond J Harvey (unknown – Jan. 14, 1945)

Several years ago, after receiving this email, I set out to photograph this man’s resting place. Shortly afterwards I sent this email back.

“I’ve just received the location information about this grave.
Returning veterans bodies whose families could not afford a grave-site were buried in the veterans section (2). Within the cemetery that is between Immaculate Conception Ave. and St. Francis Ave., beyond that there was no record of the row or plot as the men were buried as they came back. “

Section two was about two acres, I came to find that the majority of the WWII graves had only a flat, 12″x5″ rectangular stone marker with Name, Date and Unit. I walked every inch of that section, but I never found “Edmond J Harvey”. I did find a number of stone markers after going to unmarked areas when the spacing should have had a grave and dug around under the sod until I found  the buried markers. By rain and snow and growing grass did disappear the markers of forgotten men, those whose families had moved away or never thought to maintain their resting place.

The next Memorial Day (aka Decoration Day), overcast and rainy, I rather self-consciously walked to the middle of the field in an area without visible markers or headstones, and placed a small batch of flowers alone on the wet ground. Edmond J Harvey is there, somewhere, and on each Memorial Day since as I go by that place I think about him and whisper a short prayer. For all the forgotten men.

Last thoughts on Memorial Day. Annual Repost.

Jenn Budenz lies on a blanket with her 2-month-old son, AJ, as they visit the grave of Maj. Andrew Budenz at Miramar National Cemetery on May 22, 2014, in San Diego. (Hayne Palmour IV/San Diego Union-Tribune)

There’s a difference:
Armed Forces Day (3rd Sat. of May)
For those who currently wear the uniform.
Veterans Day (Nov. 11th)
For those who used to wear the uniform.
Memorial Day (last Monday of May)
For those who never made it out of uniform.

Gun Truth.

Ace of Spades

But the cure is simple, and it doesn’t require the destruction of our God-given rights. Prosecute real gun crime (not the fake stuff that attacks the law-abiding owners) as aggressively as the Feds are pursuing the January 6th protesters, and we would see an immediate, significant drop in violent crime in America.

Make the illegal possession of a gun by a felon a stand-alone felony that has a significant minimum jail time attached to it. Never drop gun charges–they should be sacrosanct. And the elites know this…they are not that stupid!

Of course the truth is that most gun laws are intended to disarm America, not to minimize violent crime by bad guys. Otherwise how would they justify the inconvenient fact that most gun laws are designed to control purchase, possession and carry rather than the violent use of them?

Truth.
