Consider these portraits of Generals Petraeus and Eisenhower. Petraeus is wearing over 30 ribbons and badges on his uniform. I’m sure he earned each of them. But of that 30, how many civilians will notice that only one item was for heroism (Bronze Star with “V”)?  Eisenhower earned only ten U.S. decorations (plus countless foreign ones), and – as was the custom of the day – typically wore only three or four at a timePetraeus and Eisenhower

Cops Gone Wild: Sometimes You Really Want the Police to Be Minutes Away. And Stay There.

copshotnewspaperdelivery_not Dorner

Torrence police open fire on vehicle “matching description” of suspect Ex-LA Cop Dorner (Large Black Male), hitting the two Hispanic (small) women inside.

Civilians carrying firearms know that they must account for their actions, no CCW citizen would have “lit up” that vehicle like that, and if they did, they would not be sleeping in their own beds tonight.

P.S. Count the bullet holes, do you think the Cops are the ones who should be limited to 7 Round magazines? Continue reading

Well I hope we don’t get another storm anytime soon. The impeller on the snow-thrower is seized up, and the drive belt was going, so I don’t think I’m going to be able to get it repaired before Spring.

Looking at these photos I was just thinking to myself, We sold the condo on Waikiki beach in Hawaii and kept this place?

Preparing for three days of blizzard…

Which do you believe?

naming-winter-storms_650x366

During the upcoming 2012-13 winter season The Weather Channel will name noteworthy winter storms. Our goal is to better communicate the threat and the timing of the significant impacts that accompany these events. The fact is, a storm with a name is easier to follow, which will mean fewer surprises and more preparation.

Or…

The Weather Channel is the first media outlet to cave to the demands of the Winter Storm Community. Frosty the Snowperson, spokesperson for the WSC, read the following statement, “For too long, our community has been ignored and belittled. While Hurricanes are lionized and touted with words like powerful and dangerous, the hard working winter storms are belittled with epitaphs such as; slushy, inconvenient and drizzle! We have even been denied a name!

With the 2013 winter season, this inequity has been addressed. We all expect that Winter Storm Nemo will proudly enter the record books as grave a menace to life and property as any Hurricane.

A man fed up with using girly-smelling soaps has designed his own range using ‘manly’ fragrances such as beer, soil and even cash.

Sometimes its OK for a man’s hands (at least a couple of fingers) to smell like a girl. (Readership has been so low this month I think I can get away with this. Time will tell, maybe I’ll (at least) finally get some comments.)

No Kidding!

Report shows UN admitting solar activity may play significant role in global warming

The Earth has been getting warmer — but how much of that heat is due to greenhouse gas emissions and how much is due to natural causes?

A leaked report by a United Nations’ group dedicated to climate studies says that heat from the sun may play a larger role than previously thought.

Excuse me, isn’t that what we’ve been saying?

Have U.S. employment numbers been manipulated?

It’s 2008 again.

Grocery Bag Bans and Foodborne Illness

Abstract:
Recently, many jurisdictions have implemented bans or imposed taxes upon plastic grocery bags on environmental grounds. San Francisco County was the first major US jurisdiction to enact such a regulation, implementing a ban in 2007. There is evidence, however, that reusable grocery bags, a common substitute for plastic bags, contain potentially harmful bacteria. We examine emergency room admissions related to these bacteria in the wake of the San Francisco ban. We find that ER visits spiked when the ban went into effect. Relative to other counties, ER admissions increase by at least one fourth, and deaths exhibit a similar increase.

Stands to reason, how many people sanitize the reusable grocery bags they use for food shopping? Especially those manufactured from re-cycled post consumer waste, woven with thick, burlap-like threads, all the better to retain the residue of meat, blood and other organic material. Frankly I’ve always thought they were stupid and I have plenty of secondary uses for the paper grocery bags around the house. However, if you buy into the idiocy of reusable grocery bags, then.

Wash in Hot Water and Bleach, then Dry Thoroughly!

after all, its for the children. (afterthought: after sanitizing, treat them as you would any food storage container, don’t throw them into the trunk until the next time you go shopping.)

Obama OK’s Subprime Borrowers For Prime Loans

The War On Banks: First In A Series

New mortgage rules issued last week by the administration will have the effect of forcing lenders to approve prime loans to borrowers who would normally only qualify for subprime loans carrying higher interest rates and fees to cover the added risk of default.

Banks are already under renewed pressure from federal prosecutors and regulators to make home loans to low-income borrowers with blemished credit as part of the administration’s stepped-up enforcement of anti-redlining laws…

As part of recent consent decrees, Justice has ordered several bank defendants to approve prime-rate mortgages for African-Americans and Latinos who otherwise would not qualify for them.

For instance, First United Security Bank of Alabama must set up a “special financing program” for African-Americans.

According to the 25-page federal order, the program must offer them interest rates and other terms “more advantageous to the applicant than it would normally provide” — even if the applicant “would ordinarily not qualify for (a discounted) rate for reasons including lack of required credit quality, income, or down payment.”

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t we (collectively) learn back in 2008 that this is an (felony) bad idea? In the comments at the original site (I’d like some comments too, BTW) this commenter (James Atkinson) nailed it in one, “Obviously we no longer have a president of all the people but a tribal leader for some of the people.”353033 milk the cow A 26

Wind turbine collapses in high windbradworthy-endurance-wind-power-e-3120-turbine

A controversial 80ft wind turbine has collapsed after being hit by heavy winds.

The £250,000 tower, which stood as tall as a six story building, was hit by gale force gusts of 50mph.

The 50KW structure then collapsed at a farm in Bradworthy, Devon, leaving a “mangled wreck”.

devon_2466296b

I see a problem, 50MPH are not “heavy winds”.    O.K. in some areas, maybe heavy but not exceptional and certainly not the highest winds that could be expected within the 25 year operational life of the “wind” turbine. Also, 50KW isn’t very much power, not compared to Natural Gas and Nuclear power plants (add five zeros). This is why wind and solar are always the most expensive path for supplying power.

Wind, Blow me!

Winds knock out power to thousands on South Shore

Hurricane-force winds blew down trees, limbs and power lines across the South Shore in the predawn hours today, closing numerous streets and cutting power to thousands of local customers.

The Blue Hills Observatory reported a wind gust of 81 miles an hour.

As of 7 a.m., National Grid reported 8,998 customers without power, most of them in the Brockton area. Norwell had 2,949 without power early this morning. NStar reported 3,895 power failures from Canton to Plymouth. NStar had 949 customers without power in Carver and 249 in Kingston.

Police and fire departments in almost every community from Quincy to Carver reported trees, limbs and power lines down.

Weymouth was the hardest hit, with four prolonged street closings on Vernon Street, Homestead Avenue, Commercial Street and Sutton Street.

Quincy, Marshfield and Kingston also reported brief street closings.

A miss is as good as a mile, the dead tree was just one foot to short to hit the garage.

Winds of this strength and duration were not forecast. I heard 25 mph, weather station at Blue Hills recorded 81 mph.

The strangest thing of all, the bicycle was fastened to the porch railing with a bike lock with a half inch cable. The bike fetched up against the far porch railing, ass akimbo, the bike lock is gone. Thats not something I would have said was going to blow away. But it did.

Progressives War on Women

1 in 4 Swedish Women Will Be Raped as Sexual Assaults Increase 500%

Sweden now has the second highest number of rapes in the world, after South Africa, which at 53.2 per 100,000 is six times higher than the United States. Statistics now suggest that 1 out of every 4 Swedish women will be raped.

In 2003, Sweden’s rape statistics were higher than average at 9.24, but in 2005 they shot up to 36.8 and by 2008 were up to 53.2. Now they are almost certainly even higher as Muslim immigrants continue forming a larger percentage of the population.

With Muslims represented in as many as 77 percent of the rape cases and a major increase in rape cases paralleling a major increase in Muslim immigration, the wages of Muslim immigration are proving to be a sexual assault epidemic by a misogynistic ideology.

This has been going on for a long time and keeps getting worse. When something like this has been happening for over ten years and nothing is done about it, it gets worse. There is no limit to how bad it could get.

Until the Muslims gain a majority and turn Sweden into another shit-hole like every other place they are in control of.   There’s a lesson here.

Bye the bye, it is impossible for a citizen to get or legally carry a handgun in Sweden.

A handgun is an equalizer, it makes a woman the equal of a rape gang (The favorite method of rape in Sweden by the Islamics is piling on with four, five, six or more raping and beating one woman, its how they are staking a claim to whole cities and driving the “natives” out. Google it.)
