North Korea accuses the CIA of plotting to assassinate Kim Jong-Un in a ‘poison attack at a public ceremony carried out by a lumberjack’
Right. I believe it.
Right.
First, I’m not stupid. I thought this was a bogus offer from the first; the price was too low, the seller was too new, the 100% rating was suspect.
First I should mention that I risked no money only Amazon ‘points’ accrued from a credit card. Second that the 100% positive position rating for the vendor couldn’t be verified since Amazon removed the ability to look at the user accounts of those users ‘rating’ this company. (on that, the first three ‘ratings’ for Dempsey Books were all 5 star, which gave them an initial “Excellent” rating) Amazon has also removed any connection or link to Amazon to get them involved in a deal or purchase gone bad.
So, ordered April 12th. First “Shipped” date, April 14th. However the first “EMS” tracking number was bogus.
Second tracking number comes up as “private, cannot be tracked”, that is a new one on me.
Still Amazon will not get involved, the only action they will give you is for YOU to cancel the order yourself. Then you see, it’s not them, it’s you!
When the latest date of the ‘shipment’ came, then the ‘Now Expected’ date is pushed back another week. How long will Amazon allow this farrago of deception and fraud to go on?
Well, as long as this charade goes on I am not buying anything from Amazon, points or cash. If I didn’t need an active Amazon account to continue to have access to perviously purchased digital movies, books and music; I would cancel Amazon at last.
Update…
I finally contacted Amazon by dragging my butt through the Help/Contact tree (Hint: keep selecting ‘Other’). They emailed the transcript.
Hello,Here’s a copy of the chat transcript you requested: Initial Question: The tracking number is bogus, the item has never shipped, the ‘Seller’ does not respond (frankly I think the whole thing is someones idea of a prank) and Amazon makes it very hard to contact them. |

…and later another email from ‘Geeth’.

“The chat ‘lost connection’ because after the last line I typed nothing came back from ‘Geeth’ (what part of the world is that a common name?), I finally hung up. Several days later this order is still active and that is about it.
When Mats Järlström’s wife got snagged by one of Oregon’s red light cameras in 2013, he challenged the ticket by questioning the timing of the yellow lights at intersections where cameras had been installed.
Since then, his research into red light cameras has earned him attention in local and national media—
It also got him a $500 fine from the Oregon State Board of Examiners for Engineering and Land Surveying.
According to the board, Järlström’s research into red light cameras and their effectiveness amounts to practicing engineering without a license. No, really.
Jerry Pournelle writes about the existence and (of course) the waste and absurdity of “Federal Bunny Inspectors” who (believe it or not) wander the wastelands of America concerned about rabbits used in Magicians acts.
The “Oregon State Board of Examiners” looks like another unneeded and useless sinecure for officious idiots and bureaucrats (I repeat myself).
I already owned an overpriced gadget, my Fitbit, that encourages me to get off my butt by vibrating whenever I’ve been sitting for too long.
And I now also own an overpriced gadget that encourages me to stay on my butt by allowing me to turn on my coffeemaker without getting out of bed.
They can’t both be right.
And for Marsha…

It’s hard to see how Maduro’s despotic regime can hold power much longer. Consider this collection of horrifying stories.
The end game is coming for Venezuela. Death; from starvation, murder, lack of basic medical, and basically the complete breakdown of what was once a prosperous, rich nation.
