QOTD: White Supremacist equals White Run.

Unz Review – I pointed out how desperate the wretched of the Earth are to get into white-run countries any way they can. Taking “white-run” to be a “synonym for “white supremacist,” that means that White Supremacy is terrifically popular with nonwhites.

Am I missing something here?

The Bachelor is about a man, dating multiple women at once.

Primarily watched by women, who hate men who date multiple women at once.”

QOTD: History

“History is politically incorrect. That’s why it’s not taught any more.” would be hilarious if only it weren’t true.

QOTD: President Trump nails it.

Pete Hegseth: Elizabeth Warren “says she’s in the fight all the way Mr. President, do you really think she believes she can win?”

President Donald Trump: “Well, that I don’t know. You’d have to ask her psychiatrist.” pic.twitter.com/sOzH6JZFrk

You do have to be careful with your charitable giving.

The caucus of black New York state lawmakers runs a charity whose stated mission is to empower “African American and Latino youth through education and leadership initiatives” by “providing opportunity to higher education” — but it hasn’t given a single scholarship to needy youth in two years, according to a New York Post investigation.

The group collects money from companies like AT&T, the Real Estate Board of New York, Time Warner Cable and CableVision, telling them in promotional materials that they are “changing lives, one scholarship at a time.”

The group — called the Association of Black and Puerto Rican Legislators, Inc. — instead spent $500,000 in the 2015 – 2016 fiscal year on items like food, limousines and rap music, the Post found.

The politicians refused to divulge the charity’s 2017 tax filing to the Post despite federal requirements that charities do so upon request.

Not that I’d ever be so dumb, I mean where do you think Black Pols like Maxine Waters get five mansions from?

Didn’t know there was a new flu drug.

Xofluza.  And nobody offered it to me at the hospital, interesting.  Also, reading through this I realized that what I was prescribed was the generic, oseltamivir.

Official Answer by Drugs.com 22 Nov 2018

There are several differences between Xofluza (baloxavir marboxil) and Tamiflu (oseltamivir). Some of their main differences involve how they work, dosing, and cost.

Both of these drug are considered antivirals that work against the influenza virus, but they do this in different ways:

  • Xofluza works by blocking the cap-dependent endonuclease activity of the viral polymerase and prevents flu virus replication.
  • Tamiflu is a neuraminidase enzyme inhibitor that frees viruses from the infected cells surface.
  • Because Xofluza works with a new mechanism, theoretically it may be effective for viruses that have grown resistant to the antiviral action of Tamiflu.

What is the cost of Xofluza?

  • The new flu drug Xofluza costs $150 for one treatment, according to Genentech, the drug’s manufacturer. If you have prescription insurance, your plan will most likely cover the costs of at least one flu drug, minus your copay or coinsurance. Genentech is also providing a coupon for patients with commercial insurance to lower the cost of Xofluza to $30.
  • Tamiflu is now available as a more affordable generic drug called oseltamivir. The cost of oseltamivir is roughly $50 to $60 for 10 capsules of the 75 mg dose using online coupons at your pharmacy. The cost for one 60 mL bottle of the 6 mg/ml oral oseltamivir suspension costs about the same.
  • The brand name Tamiflu runs about three times the cost of the generic, about $180 cash with online coupons, but this price may vary.

How do the side effects differ between Xofluza and Tamiflu?

Side effects differ between Xofluza (baloxavir marboxil) and Tamiflu (oseltamivir), as well.

  • The most common side effects with Xofluza include diarrhea and bronchitis (lung inflammation).
  • The most common side effects of Tamiflu when used for treatment of the flu include nausea, vomiting, and headache.
  • When used for prevention of the flu, Tamiflu side effects may also include nausea, vomiting, headache, as well as pain.

How do the doses differ between Xofluza and Tamiflu?

The uses, doses and age ranges for Xofluza and Tamiflu are as follows:

Xofluza:

  • Xofluza (baloxavir marboxil) is given as single-dose, oral treatment for acute, uncomplicated influenza in people 12 years and older. It should be taken within 48 hours of the start of flu symptoms, and is available as a tablet.
  • Do not take Xofluza with dairy products, calcium-fortified beverages, laxatives, antacids or oral supplements containing iron, zinc, selenium, calcium or magnesium due to possible drug interactions.

Tamiflu:

  • Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is also taken within 48 hours of flu symptom onset, but is taken twice a day for 5 days in a row to treat flu in people 2 weeks of age and older.
  • Tamiflu is also used as a flu preventive in people who are at least 1 year old and who may have been exposed to flu but do not yet have symptoms.
  • Tamiflu is available in an oral capsule formulation as well as a liquid suspension.
  • There is less chance of stomach upset if you take Tamiflu with food.

Influenza.

Well, the one nice thing is that I think that the worst day of 2019 is already behind me. The reason is I just got out of the hospital, for the Flu. Or The Influenza for the purists.

I think it’s worth mentioning a few things I’ve learned from this. First, I had the flu shot. And that bromine that taking the flu shot makes the illness less severe if you get it is very suspect to me now, if the case I had had been any worse I might not be here. There’s been stories in the news lately that the flu season is ‘lighter’ this year, maybe. But as I lay in emergency on a gurney for hours, what I heard left, right and behind me were people hacking their lungs out, just like me. Today, as I checked out of the hospital, I looked at the board showing room status and 11 of 20 rooms were marked the same as mine, Influenza.

As for the other news reports I read regarding the flu vaccine, after last years ‘poor performance’, the CDC was proud to report that this years vaccine was ‘Very Effective’. Well, as to that, more than half the nurses (including the xray tech) I was in contact with mentioned sympathetically “I know how you feel, I’m getting over the flu myself”.  All the nurses I met were great, just terrific, and I want to thank them all again. And in my State, it’s mandated that they all get the flu shot. Only one of the other people in the ER there for the flu said they hadn’t gotten the shot.

So that is the one point that made me write this, if anyone thinks that because they got the flu shot they have a good level of protection… don’t.

And over $10 a pill for Tamiful? What’s up with that? At least the antibiotics for  the pneumonia are still cheap.

And thanks to my girlfriend for her support.
