Quote of the day: Impeachment

Pelosi saying they’ve impeached Trump without sending the articles to the Senate is like someone filling out a check but not mailing it and saying they’ve paid their bill.

Will “Richard Jewell” be a hit?

Just came back from seeing this movie. I will say this; I’ve only witnessed a handful of times when the movie audience breaks out in applause at the end of a film and the credits rolling. This was one of the most enthusiastic outpouring of such appreciation I ever seen. And well deserved.

Ford v Ferrari and Richard Jewell, best fall movie season in a long time.

Don’t sweat the SAT’s

As Colleges Move To Do Away With The SAT In The Name Of Diversity, Detroit High School Valedictorian Struggles With Low-Level Math

In 2016, MSU removed the requirement that all students at least take algebra in either college or high school. Algebra is taught in eighth grade in many schools. Meanwhile, Wayne State University in Detroit dropped its general-education math requirement altogether.

Bob Murphy, the director or university relations and policy for the Michigan Association of State Universities, told Inside Higher Ed that not requiring math will ideally “lead to more successful graduation outcomes.”

More successful graduation outcomes, and disastrous life outcome.  Sooner or later, these coddled and unchallenged so-called ‘Students’ are going to hit a wall in real life.

These ‘diverse’ students will end up too stupid to pick cotton.

Related: In 1940, only 15% of all grades awarded were A’s. By 2018, the average grade point average at some of the nation’s leading colleges was A-minus.

Funny stuff.

From Borepatch, the difference between the temperature scales explained from a practical perspective:

Fahrenheit:

0° – You’re cold.
100° – You’re hot.

Celsius:

0° – You’re cold.  (freezing point of water)
100° – You’re dead.  (boiling point of water)

Kelvin:

0° – You’re dead.  (Absolute Zero -460 degrees Fahrenheit)
100° – You’re dead. (-280 degrees Fahrenheit, slower but still dead)
