Cancel Culture at Newspaper.

The angry left-handed broom of America’s cultural revolution uses fear to sweep through the our civic, corporate and personal life.

It brings with it attempted intimidation, shame and the usual demands for ceremonies of public groveling.

It is happening in newsrooms in New York, Philadelphia, Los Angeles. And now it’s coming for me, in an attempt to shame me into silence.

…read the whole column.

Columnist John Kass has defied “cancel culture” at the Chicago Tribune after members of the journalists’ union attacked him for criticizing left-wing billionaire George Soros and his backing of “progressive” prosecutors across the country.

Last week, Kass wrote about “an overwhelming sense of lawlessness” in Democrat-run cities, and noted: “[T]hese Democratic cities are also where left-wing billionaire George Soros has spent millions of dollars to help elect liberal social justice warriors as prosecutors. He remakes the justice system in urban America, flying under the radar.”

That statement is entirely accurate.

Agree with me or not — and isn’t that the point of a newspaper column? — I owe readers a clear statement of what I will do and not do:

I will not apologize for writing about Soros.

I will not bow to those who’ve wrongly defamed me.

I will continue writing my column.

ACE:

Now Soros’ paid minions have come to #Cancel John Kass for noting, accurately, that most of America’s most deranged, Set-The-Criminals-Free DAs were all elected due to outsized expenditures by George Soros.

Remote photography.

It’s not the composition or the originality of the images…

it is that I took them in a different way.

Nothing special.  But the photos were taken of the birds enjoying the freshly refilled birdbath from my recent camera acquisition, a Nikon B500, mounted on a tripod on the porch.

I ‘triggered’ the shot from the recliner in the family room in the house.  The interface was a Alcatel tablet running android and an Nikon App “Snapbridge”.   The camera and the tablet were connected and a reduced and time delayed image of what was in the cameras view was relayed to the tablet.  When a bird (or birds) alighted on the birdbath I could trigger the camera to take a shot, with a three second delay.  Most of the composing tools I would have available if handling the camera myself were not available; I couldn’t ‘see’ what the focus was looking at,  and of course I wasn’t shooting ‘real time’.  It was more like a WWII submarine firing a torpedo.  With the time delay; the delay in seeing what the camera was looking at, plus the delay from the act of touching the screen to send the command to the camera to take the picture,  I was aiming at the image the camera would capture six or seven seconds later.   The cost of the gear to do all this is cheap compared to the rig I’d have needed twenty years ago.

So why do I try to take pictures that way?  Because the birds don’t come by the birdbath if I’m sitting on the porch, nor do they stay as long and frolic in the water.

In the past though, I’ve used a long lens sucessfully…

WOW: Our website host @Squarespace has just completely and arbitrarily shut down our website, claiming a violation of their terms of service. We are a group of physicians advocating for a better understanding of COVID-19 and its available treatment options. This is outrageous.

The wife of a slain police officer speaks out.

Two years ago in my town, just a mile from my house a police officer was killed by a young man.  His killer was a career criminal, recently arrested for selling drugs to schoolchildren and quickly released by one of our infamous Massachusetts Liberal Judges.

The officers wife posted this recently on Facebook.

Two years ago my husband Sgt Michael Chesna was killed for doing the job he loved, being a police officer. It was, and continues to be, the most painful thing I have ever endured. It has affected not only me and my children, but my family, Mike’s family, and Mike’s friends. When Mike was murdered there were no protests (peaceful or otherwise), no riots, and no looting. There was certainly no public outcry from politicians for the reform of a broken justice system that lets repeat offenders out on the street. Instead everyone banded together and prayed, we prayed that we would find the strength to face each day with the knowledge of what we lost.

At that time I received a tremendous outpouring of support from politicians, our first responders, and citizens of towns near and far.

People, by way of ribbons, flags, signs and lightbulbs turned my town blue to show their respect not only for mike, in recognition of his sacrifice, but as a way to support all of our brave law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day. Part of this tribute included the ‘Thin Blue Line’ flag which, to this day, is displayed everywhere in my home, on our clothing, cars and in various places of our town and many other towns. The ‘Thin Blue Line’  flag is not a political statement and does not represent an opposition toward anything. It simply represents the police officers role of separating the good from the bad while creating order from the chaos. This is what separates the world from them. No one had an issue with the ‘Thin Blue Line’ flag then nor did they have an issue with our officers who instead were treated with the respect that they so deserve.

Two years later I am witnessing the complete opposite from a lot of the people who looked me straight in the eyes at Mikes wake and promised to always be there for me, offering anything they could do. Now those same politicians are showing the utmost disrespect to our officers with this reform bill and even a certain town (with the agreement of both the fire Chief and police Chief) are disrespecting our officers by demanding that the thin blue line flag be removed from their fire trucks. I take each of these actions as a personal attack on everything Mike stood for as a police officer and a decorated army veteran with 2 two combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

My children are growing up in a world where police are vilified. Their father was not a villain, he was a hero who made the ultimate sacrifice. His memory should never be tarnished by anyone.

It is not okay to judge someone based on the color of their skin, sexual orientation, race, gender etc, but it has become absolutely permitted and almost encouraged to despise police officers because of the job they choose to do. They did not choose to be victims of all this but to only serve and protect. People don’t realize that these officers come home and take off the uniform and are people just like you and me. Obviously, as past actions of some police officers have shown, those who choose to abuse their authority should be removed from their position and punished criminally. However, these bad apples are the exception rather than the rule. I do not condone violence and I agree that every person, no matter what your job, needs to be held accountable for their actions. I also feel that those who give false promises of unwavering support should be held accountable in November.

My children and I have witnessed enough hatred in the world and I do not want them to grow up thinking that this is the norm. My children have seen way more than they should be seeing. Please respect one another and be kind, no matter the circumstances. There is no place for disrespect and violence in this world. Please try your best to choose love over hate. I couldn’t be silent anymore. This is way to personal for me and I will always stand up for my husband. His memory won’t be desecrated along with any officer that has payed the ultimate sacrifice.

John: Last year on the first anniversary of the death of her husband, Mrs. Chesna’s words were published in the local papers.  This year she put them up on Facebook.  I’m wondering if the opposition to the anti-police tone of her writing is the reason that the liberal newspapers aren’t publishing her thoughts this year.

To their shame, they see nothing wrong with it.

InstaPundit: LIFE IN DE BLASIO’S NEW YORK: FDNY official defends excluding famed 9/11 firefighter from procession for being white. “A top FDNY official says it’s ‘most definitely’ acceptable to exclude a white firefighter from a ceremonial unit based solely on his skin color, The Post has learned. Cecilia Loving, the department’s chief diversity and inclusion officer, is defending a decision to kick Lt. Daniel McWilliams — one of three firefighters in the iconic 9/11 Ground Zero flag-raising photo — off a color-guard procession so it would be all-black. . . . Loving said it’s okay to replace a white member with an African-American to ‘uplift our identities and our separate ethnicities in order to instill a sense of pride and community and support for one another.’”

It’s almost as if the real role of “Chief Diversity Officers” is to justify blatant racial discrimination.

I’m not even surprised.

Soros-Funded Revolutionary Prosecutor Kim Gardner’s Office Tampered With Evidence to Charge The McCloskey’s With Crimes

—Ace

The law in Missouri requires that a weapon be actually able to fire for any felony brandishing charges to attach to it.

The pistol Mrs. McCloskey used to ward off criminal interlopers and insurrectionists was not operable. They had previously removed the firing pin, rendering it inoperative, so that they could use it as an exhibit or “prop” at a trial.

So when the Soros Enforcer’s troops seized their guns, they found the pistol was inoperative and thus could not be the object of any charges.

No problem, Soros’ Enforcer thought — I’ll just order the lab to restore the gun to a firable state, and then I’ll charge them for brandishing a fireable gun.
