AP – The European Union reached an agreement Tuesday with some of the world’s biggest social media firms, including Facebook and Twitter, on ways to combat the spread of hate speech online… The firms themselves say there’s no conflict between their mission statements to promote the freedom of expression and clamping down on hate speech.
Everything will be okay, they’re just kicking out the bad actors. This is the good news we’ve been waiting for, success in Europe will provide a much needed template for the US. I see government agencies and their partners—La Raza, Black Lives Matter, the Council on American–Islamic Relations, the Southern Poverty Law Center, the Clinton Foundation—determining what is and isn’t hate speech. We’re in safe hands. They’re responsible outfits with common sense and high standards. Let’s join with them and stamp out hate speech. Because it’s not who we are. Say, do you feel a chill in the air, kinda cool and damp, like a newly-dug grave? Next.
