Doug: Images, Past and Present.

1944 and 2014

Take a minute to time travel – it’s a fascinating use of photo-technology

1. click here: http://interactive.guim.co.uk/embed/2014/apr/image-opacity-slider-master/index.html?ww2-dday

2. you’ll see the first of 10 large photos, the first of which should be a 1944 harbour shot;

3. use mouse to put cursor somewhere on left side of image, then, continuing to hold down left-click button on mouse, drag mouse gently from left to right, across photo and it will change into a photo of the exact same location viewed in 2014 – drag it back to the left and you are back in 1944! In particular, keep your eyes on the buildings and changes to them over 70 years. The locations etc are printed under each photo, left side.

4. Scroll down for nine more images.
