If jihadists control Iraq

I blame Bush, sorry but this time I really do. Yes the Democrats and in particular their leader (where-ever he came from) did walk away from a victory, a prize in our eyes but not to theirs. But that is their nature. We don’t have to rehash the old story about the scorpion, do we?

Bush knew he couldn’t stay in office forever, that the Congress was going to flip flop between parties, as it always has. He should have known that unless his party controlled both houses of Congress, his programs would be thwarted. OK, he couldn’t have seen Barak Obama coming, who did? But that just accelerated the decay.

After smashing Saddam’s army, cleansing the country of Ba’ath influences; army, judiciary, and bureaucracy. He wanted to rebuild everything in a democratic framework. But he and Iraq didn’t have the time. Neither of them, the President or that sad nation had the decades and decades of time that South Korea, Japan, Germany or the Philippines had. All the while covered by the cloak of American military power. America will never be able to do what we did in those countries again not while we are hamstrung by the vicious political dichotomy between progressives and everyone else.

Yes, this is primo Monday morning quarterbacking, but I don’t get paid the big bucks to make the right decision for America the first time around. George Bush did. And this is going to cost us, big.

Iran’s “offer” to send troops, in the shadow of Obama’s inactivity, will probably be accepted as the lessor of two evils. Then Iran, in control of Iraq, will bloodlessly absorb Kuwait. Saudi Arabia will exercise it’s option to buy Paki Nuclear Warheads. The balance of power having changed so drastically all the Gulf states will quickly change their allegiances and it will NOT favor the US. At that point there will be nothing Barak Obama could do, even if he wanted to. On the up side, there is very little additional harm Obama can do in that region even if he tried.

Will I be found to be wrong in my assessment? Christ, I hope so. By the way, I voted for George W. Bush twice, so I accept my share of the responsibility.
