Continuing the “Defeat of Islam Month” celebration: October 10th, The Battle of Tours.

732 The Battle of Tours: The high point of Muslim conquests in Europe.

AD 732, Battle of Tours: Charles Martel the ‘Hammer’ Holds The Line Of Battle

The Franks and The Muslims under the Umayyad Caliphate would meet in northeastern France in October of 732. Charles Martel, commander of the Franks, who were largely infantry based, and likely equal in number to the Muslim army, would fight General Abdul Rahman Al Ghafiqi, who commanded the Umayyad army that had a large amount of cavalry.

The Muslims had a tried and true method of wearing down the enemy with light cavalry peppering and repeated heavy cavalry charges. With no real reason to try something different, ‘Abd-al-Raḥmân’s cavalry crashed into the Frankish formations who stood firm like “A Bulwark of Ice” according to later Muslim accounts. Frankish troops withstood the attacks and lashed out hard whenever the experienced troops saw an opportunity.

Deep into the fighting (perhaps into a second day according to some sources) The cavalry broke into a Frankish formation and towards Charles. His guard, and perhaps Charles himself, entered the fray. Several Frankish scouts were sent at the same time to raid the enemy camp, causing havoc and freeing prisoners.

The Muslims feared for the safety of their booty, obtained during the campaign and many rushed back to the camp. This was seen as a full retreat by many other members of the Muslim army and an actual full retreat soon followed. ‘Abd-al-Raḥmân valiantly attempted to rally his troops but was killed in the fighting as the victorious Franks swarmed upon their retreating foes.

A Danish warrior brought his war band to the South and joined in the battle.  In Denmark it is said that Holger Danske sleeps in his tomb, but with one eye open to watch for danger to his land and his people.

Florida Surgeon General Issues Vaccine Warning…

Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo Issues New mRNA COVID Vaccine Guidance

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, State Surgeon General Dr. Joseph A. Ladapo has announced new guidance regarding mRNA vaccines. The Florida Department of Health conducted an analysis through a self-controlled case series, which is a technique originally developed to evaluate vaccine safety.

This analysis found that there is an 84% increase in the relative incidence of cardiac-related death among males 18-39 years old within 28 days following mRNA vaccination.

With a high level of global immunity to COVID-19, the benefit of vaccination is likely outweighed by this abnormally high risk of cardiac-related death among men in this age group.

Non-mRNA vaccines were not found to have these increased risks.

As such, the State Surgeon General recommends against males aged 18 to 39 from receiving mRNA COVID-19 vaccines. Those with preexisting cardiac conditions, such as myocarditis and pericarditis, should take particular caution when making this decision.

“Studying the safety and efficacy of any medications, including vaccines, is an important component of public health,” said Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo. “Far less attention has been paid to safety and the concerns of many individuals have been dismissed – these are important findings that should be communicated to Floridians.”

The analysis can be found here. The guidance can be found here.

You Never Had It So Good

You Never Had It So Good

A poem by

Gerard Van der Leun

You shop Dollar Stores for wine in a box.
You save like they told you you should.
You buy Hamburger Helper instead of gravlax.
Yeah, you never had it so good.

You’ve got two dirty jobs that don’t equal one.
You’re a hard-working man of the hood.
You work both twelve hours and you’re never done.
Yeah, you never had it so good.

You never had it,
But you heard that it’s good.
You never had it,
But you think that you should.
You never had it,
Now you’re breaking bad at it,
And you still never had it so good.

If you’re black they’ll tell you’re ready to rock,
Just pull on this hoodie and hitch up your jock.
If you’re white they’ll tell you you gotta pay more
Of that nothing you make to even the score
With the slaves at the rave, or they’ll break down your door,
Throw you down on the floor, and whip out their Glock,
And swear you never had it so good.

Now they tell you you’re growing at a fat one percent,
Then they tell you that that won’t quite cover the rent.
But you don’t have to worry, you don’t have to scurry,
Cause they’ll cover your ass with a war surplus tent,
And tell you you’re straight no matter how bent.
Yeah, you never had it so good

You never had it,
But you heard that it’s good.
You never had it,
But you think that you should.
You never had it,
Now you’re breaking bad at it,
And you still never had it so good.

Sign up for that food card.
It really ain’t that hard.
It lets you and your squeeze
Get that government cheese,
And also some booze,
And your baby’s new shoes.
If you’re gay you can cruise,
And screw free til you lose.
Yeah, you never had it so good

You never had it,
But you heard that it’s good.
You never had it,
But you think that you should.
You never had it,
Now you’re breaking bad at it,
And you still never had it so good.

Electric Vehicles exploding after water damage from Hurricane…

There’s a ton of EVs disabled from Ian. As those batteries corrode, fires start. That’s a new challenge that our firefighters haven’t faced before. At least on this kind of scale. #HurricaneIan

October 7: The Feast of Our Lady of Victory

Feast of Our Lady of Victory  is celebrated on 7 October in the General Roman Calendar.  7 October is the anniversary of the decisive victory of the combined fleet of the Holy League of 1571 over the Ottoman navy at the Battle of Lepanto.

The Battle of Lepanto

For those who know little history, today’s battle with the Islamic State in the Middle East may seem new and unprecedented. It is not. In a.d. 622, Mohammed set out from Medina to conquer the whole Christian world for Allah by force of arms. Within a hundred years, his successors had occupied and pillaged every Christian capital of the Middle East, from Antioch through North Africa (home of Saint Augustine) and Spain. All that remained outside Allah’s reign was the northern arc from Southern France to Constantinople. What we are seeing in 2014 has a history of more than 1,300 years — a very bloody, terror-ridden history. Except that today the struggle is far, far more secular than religious — a war over political institutions and systems of law, with almost no public argument over religious doctrine.

1571, October 7th.

The Battle of Lepanto.  After decades of attacks on coastal cities in Greece, the Balkans, Italy, France and Spain; the great Islamic fleet that was assembled for conquest was brought to battle by a Christian Fleet from many nations and city-states.

The British are justifiably proud of what they did in 1588 and the Battle of Britain.   But if the Christians had lost at Lepanto, very likely it would have been a Muslim Europe in 1940.

Anyone who clings to the historically untrue-and thoroughly immoral-doctrine that, ‘violence never settles anything’ I would advise to conjure the ghosts of Napoleon Bonaparte and the Duke of Wellington and let them debate it.

The ghost of Hitler could referee…

Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and freedom.

Let us this day salute the courage, blood and sacrifice of our Christian forbearers.  But for them we would be slaves to a demon cult of slavers.

Later this week, The Battle of Tours!

Hard to know what to say about this development.

Ukrainians plan apocalyptic orgy in event of Putin launching nuke

Ukrainians fearing that Russian President Vladimir Putin may unleash a nuke have organized another big bang — a wild sex party in the event that the warmonger’s threat becomes reality.

More than 15,000 people have signed up for “Orgy on Shchekavystsa: Official,” a mass romp set up on a Telegram group in the event of Putin launching a nuclear blast, Vice News reported.

The would-be participants in the carnal extravaganza on a hill outside the capital, Kyiv, have been instructed to adorn their hands with stripes to specify what activities they’re interested in, according to the news outlet.

The Telegram channel also has posted updates on the ongoing war, describing the counteroffensive efforts in the city of Kherson as “BDSM parties for Russians.”

An air raid siren last week prompted one eager member of the orgy group to post: “Is it time?” Hundreds responded with smiley-face emojis.

Not sabotage? Could be, read and learn.

Ok, the Nord pipeline incidents.

In my experience when anything involving energy-industry hydrocarbons explodes … well, sabotage isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. And honestly, when it comes to a pipeline running natural gas under Russian (non)maintenance, an explosion means that it’s Tuesday. Or Friday. Or another day of the week ending in “y”.

Under certain circumstances of pressure, temperature, and water presence natural gas/methane will form solid hydrates, with concomitant amounts of fun.

The Recommended Best Practice to clear a hydrate plug is a vvveeerryyy slllooowww depressurisation from BOTH ENDS, SIMULTANEOUSLY.

How slowly, you ask? For a pipeline the size of Nordstream we’re talking weeks.

As the line reaches local atmospheric pressure heat is transferred to the plug from the environment, and the plug begins to melt, starting at the plug/wall interface.

However, if you are a national gas company with institutional paranoia, a Nationalised aversion to looking weak or asking for help, and a Good Idea Fairy fueled by vodka — well, you can depressurise the pipe from one end.

“So, LawDog,” I hear you say, “What do you think happened?”

Honestly, I suspect someone in the Russian government pinged Gazprom, and said, “The EU is about to have a cold winter. make sure those pipelines sodding well work, so we can sell someone natural gas at massively increased prices.”

So, Somebody In Charge started running checks — and came up with hydrate slurry in both pipelines. After the running in circles, hyperventilating, and shrieking of curse-words stopped, somebody started trying to remediate both lines. Of course they didn’t tell folks down stream — no Russian want to look weak, and besides, there’s been a nasty uptick in failed Russian oligarchs getting accidentally defenestrated — they just unilaterally tried to Fix Things.

Read the whole thing, very educational and entertaining.
