The Kavanaugh Cigar.

My Grandfather smoked cigars.  When I think of him I still remember the smell of his cigar.

Gramp was a life long Republican.  My mother remembered him telling her, even before she was of an age to vote, to always…always…vote Republican.  Gramp hated Democrats.

I smoked cigars briefly and never very frequently when I was younger.  I stopped smoking them a long time ago.  But somehow the feeling that lighting up a cigar was special stayed with me.  The first time that I decided that the occasion warranted it was the Millennium, New Years Eve 2000.

The next cigar I had was for Donald J. Trump’s Inauguration in 2017.

Today I lit up my next cigar.  The Kavanaugh Cigar.

The Trump cigar was also an Hoyo de Monterey, Excalibur.  But, inflation!.  Ten bucks in 2016, and $11.70 today!

A snifter of cognac is a requirement.  With a fine spirit in the glass to sip from time to time to clear the palate and smooth the throat.

Flags flying of course.

What non-cigar smokers probably don’t know, is that a fine cigar isn’t enjoyed quickly.  What started at four o’clock took over an hour to finish.  An hour to slowly savor, to contemplate, to appreciate to importance of this moment in the history of our country.  The grueling fight to confirm a good man to his destiny.  The pride in our support of a American President worthy of our trust.  To be present during an historic time in the history of America when the descent to our ruin began to turn.

The fight has just begun.  But there is hope.  Hope that we can make America Great again.

God bless America.  Thank God for Donald J. Trump.

Good night to all.  It’s getting dark and it’s time to take the flags in.  Tomorrow is another day.  Tomorrow is another day to win.

Brave, principled or stupid?

New Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh has made good on his pledge to hire women to serve as his law clerks, becoming the first justice to have an all-female staff.

Kavanaugh said during his Senate confirmation hearings that he has made a special effort to hire women after reading a story years ago about the unequal balance between men and woman hired for prestigious clerkships at the Supreme Court and for other federal judges.

During his 12 years on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, a majority of the clerks he hired were women, which he said should be an indicator of his views about women in the workplace.

“My women law clerks said I was one of the strongest advocates in the federal judiciary for women lawyers,” Kavanaugh said at the hearing. “And they wrote that the legal profession is fairer and more equal because of me.”

He added: “In my time on the bench, no federal judge — not a single one in the country — has sent more women law clerks to clerk on the Supreme Court than I have.”

Kavanaugh told the senators that as part of a contingent plan should he be confirmed, he had to hire “a first group of four law clerks who could be available to clerk at the Supreme Court for me on a moment’s notice.”

He added: “All four are women. If confirmed, I’ll be the first justice in the history of the Supreme Court to have a group of all-women law clerks. That is who I am.”

As I would expect from the standards we have come to expect from the MSM, nothing of this was said during Kavanaughs recent Inquisition.

Typhus outbreak in… Los Angeles?

How to tell when your city and state are run by DemocRats: flea-transmitted typhus.

An outbreak of flea-borne typhus has hit downtown Los Angeles, the county Department of Public Health said Thursday. Health officials say they are investigating several cases of flea-borne typhus, a disease that infected fleas can spread to humans.

The appearance of diseases that typically affect places like Haiti or Syria are increasingly showing up in California. These are not super bugs or crazy, rare things like Ebloa. We’re talking about the type of common ailments that are spread by filth. When nobody picks up the garmage, and people shit in the street because there’s no place else to go, you start seeing things like typhus, cholera, dysentery, all kinds of diseases that were defeated in Europe in the 17th Century by 1) sewer systems, 2) clean water systems and 3) garbage collection.

But in California we see these vital infrastructure systems being destroyed by the people who administer them. Between Green initiatives, Lefty labor policy and flat-out corruption, large cities in California are descending into 3rd World hell-hole status.

It is bad enough when Big Brother is your own country’s government, watching you all the time and reading your email. But how about when Big Brother’s servers get hacked, and somebody else’s government is looking over their shoulder?

Today, Supermicro sells more server motherboards than almost anyone else. It also dominates the $1 billion market for boards used in special-purpose computers, from MRI machines to weapons systems. Its motherboards can be found in made-to-order server setups at banks, hedge funds, cloud computing providers, and web-hosting services, among other places. Supermicro has assembly facilities in California, the Netherlands, and Taiwan, but its motherboards—its core product—are nearly all manufactured by contractors in China.

Nested on the servers’ motherboards, the testers found a tiny microchip, not much bigger than a grain of rice, that wasn’t part of the boards’ original design.

During the ensuing top-secret probe, which remains open more than three years later, investigators determined that the chips allowed the attackers to create a stealth doorway into any network that included the altered machines. Multiple people familiar with the matter say investigators found that the chips had been inserted at factories run by manufacturing subcontractors in China

This is a hardware hack,  not a software attack.  You know those movies where the tech yells,” We have to shut down and reboot from the protected files!”.   Won’t work, this attack is on the motherboard.

The best part? This hack was NOT found by the super US Secret Squirrel gang. It was found by some un-named company in Ontario, Canada, because Amazon Web Services hired them to vet the servers. The CIA/FBI/ArmyNavyAirforceMarines/and every other alphabet-soup spook outfit was clueless. None of them checked the shit their networks ran on.

Ladies and gentlemen, every fucking thing in your life runs on hardware made in China. Your phone, your fridge, your toaster, your car. This hack was done by a chip the size of a kosher salt flake, disguised as a resistor. It had enough ROM and processing power to subvert any operating system and install its own kernel-level back door.

Now will you get the message that China is our enemy?  More than half of every dollar we send to China is used to build a weapon against us.

The cruelest anti-Kavanaugh argument yet

Kavanaugh should be rejected because the confirmation experienced has ruined his mind. He’s damaged now and can no longer think in the properly judicial way that was once within his capacity. A moderated version of that argument is that people will worry that he’s now damaged and skewed and that’s reason enough to keep him off the Court, to preserve the belief in the legitimacy of the institution.

I’m not making these arguments. I’m just seeing them and finding them horrendously perverse and cruel. Why not devise a confirmation process that is such an ordeal that it will drive out the very qualities we want in a judge? First, it would be torture, and second, you could never confirm a nominee. It’s an inherently self-defeating process.

I suppose that this is as close to an apology as the left will make, second hand and obscure.   What they did was inhuman and unforgivable, and attempting to use their own bad behavior as one last argument for keeping Kavanaugh off the bench is the very definition of gall.

Chutzpah!

On another note an NPR poll released recently shows that the GOP is gaining ground and the Dems are losing support among (of all groups) American Women.  The ladies seem to be more angry about the treatment of Kavanaugh and his family than the men.  The Dems forgot one thing; most women have brothers, sons, husbands and can understand and project onto their own loved ones the grief and pain of the horrendous treatment by the Democrats of an innocent man.

So we now have illegal alien Soros-paid activists influencing the Supreme Court confirmation process.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a democratic socialist and rising star within the Democrat Party, called Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh a liar in a speech to Boston University college students on Monday…

…She went on to hail “activism” as the solution, and boasted to the crowd that one of the women who had cornered judiciary committee member Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) in an elevator and yelled at him for several minutes after he agreed to vote “yes” on Kavanaugh was from her district.

“Ana Maria Archila is from our district, is from Queens,” Ocasio-Cortez, prompting a round of applause. “In fact, she is an immigration activist, which just goes to show intersectionality and how interwoven all of these fights are. Because she is putting everything on the line and risking deportation … not even for a direct immigration action but for the action of all survivors. And that’s how we need to be. We need to be championing the causes of our neighbors. That is what creates power and movement, coalition building.”

Screw the Nuclear Doomsday Clock.  What we really need is a symbol warning everyone how close to armed conflict within the United States we are approaching.

But it’s looking less like another Civil War and more like an Foreign Invasion abetted by treason.
