Only a ‘good woman’ with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun.

‘Gun free zone’ law disarmed Virginia Beach shooting victim, attorney says

The night before Kate Nixon and 11 others were murdered by a disgruntled co-worker, the decade-long Virginia Beach city employee talked with her husband about bringing a gun to work for self-defense — a decision that was taken out of her hands by the city’s ban on employees carrying firearms at work, a Nixon family lawyer said.

“Kate expressed to her husband concerns about this individual in particular, as well as one other person,” Nixon family attorney Kevin Martingayle told WHRV’s “HearSay with Cathy Lewis” radio showMonday.  “In fact, they had a discussion the night before about whether or not she should take a pistol and hide it in her handbag — and decided not to, ultimately, because there’s a policy apparently against having any kind of weapons that are concealed in the building.”

Many years ago after one of the many massacres committed by a mentally disturbed individual a friend commented to me, “I’m not going out like that!  I’m not hiding under a desk, crying and praying that they aren’t going to kill me.  If I don’t have a weapon I’m going to make a weapon, or use something, whatever I can find, as a weapon.  But I’m Not Going Out Like That!”.

Joe Biden was the asshole that inflicted “Gun Free Zones” insanity on this country.  Remember that.

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN), “The Muslim who believes that her religion makes her more of an American than you are”.

POWERLINE SHINES THE LIGHT ON ONE OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES’ SLEAZIEST POLITICAL FRAUDSTERS:

I am referring to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-MN). Powerline’s Scott Johnson has stayed on several tawdry Omar stories that the mainstream media ignores — actually covers with a pillow, to employ that brilliant quip. The link leads to Scott’s sixth post in a series looking into Omar’s campaign finance shenanigans (crimes) and likely bigamy. Check out the entire series of posts. You’ll see he’s also fencing with his local Democratic Party propaganda organ, the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Once again powerlineblog is breaking news biased media won’t break.

We continue posting items of interest from the Minnesota campaign finance board investigation of Ilhan Omar’s 2016 state legislative campaign. The board investigation coincidentally revealed that Omar had filed joint tax returns in 2014 and 2015 with a man to whom she was not married while legally married to another man.

OK, is that clear?  US Rep Ilhan Omar filed a US ‘joint tax return’ with another man (not her husband) and not with her legal/illegal husband… i.e. her brother.

Or is it the other way around?

Screw it, kill ’em all and let God sort it out.

Did I say that out loud?

Interesting development.

GOOD NEWS: New Vaccine Might Prevent Development Of Alzheimer’s

The department’s newsroom website stated that the vaccine uses virus-like particles (VLPs) to eliminate the tangling of the tau protein, which when accumulated in the brain can interrupt neurons in the brain from communicating. Alzheimer’s, which is expected to strike triple the number of people by 2050, cripples the brain as human beings age, as beta-amyloid proteins in the brain get stuck together and tau proteins start to tangle, both of which inhibit neural connections.

Too early to get excited.  This treatment hasn’t even started testing and approval by the FDA.  That’s years for most drugs.  But it’s encouraging.

PETA Fights for Oysters’ Rights in Push for Veganism!

When I saw this, at first I thought it was another spoof from “The Babylon Bee”.

In its new crusade for veganism, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has rushed to the defense of oysters and other bivalves, insisting they should be respected and never eaten.

“Oysters are never vegan,” PETA announced in a short video presentation on Twitter Saturday. “Bivalves are animals that deserve our consideration and should never be eaten or used in any other way.”

In its attempt to tug at the heartstrings of possible sympathizers, PETA underscored the cruelty with which oysters are treated just to feed undeserving human beings.

“Their shells are torn open and their bodies are cut up,” the video proclaimed.

“Oysters can sense danger and hide inside their shells.

Somehow I have to think that splashing cocktail sauce and Worcestershire on them just prior to sucking ’em down is the high point of their lives.

HBO should stick to porn.

Why HBO’s “Chernobyl” Gets Nuclear So Wrong

Since the start of HBO’s mini-series about the 1986 nuclear disaster, “Chernobyl,” journalists have praised the series for getting the facts of the event right, even if its creators took some creative liberties.

“The first thing to understand about the HBO mini-series “Chernobyl,” wrote a reporter for The New York Times, “is that a lot of it is made up. But here’s the second, and more important, thing: It doesn’t really matter.”

Where have I heard that before?  Ah Yes! “Fake but Accurate”

“Chernobyl” ominously depicts people gathered on a bridge watching the Chernobyl fire. At the end of the series, HBO claims, “it has been reported that none survived. It is now known as the “Bridge of Death.”

But the “Bridge of Death” is a sensational urban legend and there is no good evidence to support it.

“Chernobyl” is as misleading for what it leaves out. It gives the impression that all Chernobyl first responders who suffered Acute Radiation Syndrome (ARS) died. In reality, 80 percent of those with ARS survived.

It’s clear that even highly educated and informed viewers, including journalists, mistook much of “Chernobyl” fiction for fact.

Follow the link and read the whole article.   The whole thing is rife with one example of Chernobyl’s stunningly unscientific sensationalism after another.

Rotten Tomatoes is doing it’s bit.  A very high 95% rating by the critics, but strangely no rating listed for the audience.  And yet the final episode has been broadcast.   It’s fine, I stopped looking at or believing RT a while ago.

Watching the Ship.

The Ship

What is dying
I am standing on the seashore, a ship sails in the morning breeze and starts for the ocean.
She is an object of beauty and I stand watching her till at last she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says: “She is gone.”
Gone!
Where
Gone from my sight that is all.
She is just as large in the masts, hull and spars as she was when I saw her, and just as able to bear her load of living freight to its destination.
The diminished size and total loss of sight is in me, not in her, and just at the moment when someone at my side says,
“She is gone”
there are others who are watching her coming, and other voices take up a glad shout:
“There she comes!”
and that is dying.

In great deeds…

I read today as a prelude to a story about D-Day commemorations the phrase “This will be the last significant observation of this event. Because only a handful of living veterans are now participating and none will be alive for the 100th year anniversary.

Really? Because the battle of Gettysburg, one hundred and fifty six years ago still commands great interest and respect in both the North and the South. It is my belief that as long as the American Republic survives both battles will continue to be marked by intense interest, respect and devotion to the principles of Honor, Duty and Freedom that both events represent.

“In great deeds, something abides. On great fields, something stays. Forms change and pass; bodies disappear; but spirits linger, to consecrate ground for the vision-place of souls… generations that know us not and that we know not of, heart-drawn to see where and by whom great things were suffered and done for them, shall come to this deathless field, to ponder and dream; and lo! the shadow of a mighty presence shall wrap them in its bosom, and the power of the vision pass into their souls.” – Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain.

So say we all.
