Heinlein

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man.
Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded -- here and there, now and then -- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck." -- Robert A. HeinleinWrath Of Gnon

A Four Hour Trip, a four hour trip…
Got free of all my entanglements today, so I went on a long November paddle. Tonight I’m too pooped to do much photo editing, but glancing through the images I liked this one. Have anyone wondered why I often shoot … Continue reading
The Tide is High.
Very High. I haven’t checked yet to see how it stacks up in the record books but it’s definitely higher than I personally can remember. Normal high tides are 8 to 10 ft. (Tide heights today; Cohasset 11.38 ft, Scituate … Continue reading

Halloween at my favorite Pub.
Over at the Union Brewhouse (In Weymouth, Rte. 53) on Halloween and I saw a real live witch (bit green but very cute), that did magic! Really!

Long Island weekend, foliage and flowers.
As a rule I found LI a month behind us in the progression of the trees towards full fall colors, some spots were the exception. May I also recommend the Bayard Cutting Arboretum. Dahlias and geese and gorillas, Oh My!
Sanity break, on the river.
