Question: If the discovery that massively popular and highly-cited research in modern psychology may turn out to be a complete fraud, the writers research just fiction, then what does that do to the ‘Science’ of Psychology?
Well that has happened and it’s effect in the field of Psychology was … nothing. Because a lot of people already know, psychology isn’t a science.

Are you suggesting that psychology is merely a series of (maybe) educated guesses and imaginary “issues”?
But what about all those Psych majors I went to college with?

Glad you got something out of it.
I’m unaware if you were a Pats fan or not, or if you are still following the team.
But Belichick just had his worst career loss to Dallas, 3-28. The girlfriend is a fan and she was definitely pissed.

Typically the networks haven’t been showing the Pats games down here, but the Dallas game was national so I got to endure the torture, temporarily. I’m no longer following the Pats or the NFL as I once did; that ‘take a knee’ crap sealed the deal for me. You’d be surprised how liberating it is to turn off a bad game…never used to.

Psychology is a “science” about where astronomy was before the invention of the telescope; lots of observations, measurements and many, many conflicting hypotheses.

Well, I do know I wouldn’t release a murderer from prison or cancel an execution based on the opinion of a practitioner.
Unless he was sure enough that he’d take him home with him for six months first.

Psychology may not be a science when compared to hard science like chemistry and physics but it’s enough of one to allow those who study it to successfully manipulate people on a fairly regular basis.
