Indian Head River

Indian Head River and Luddams Ford

I’ve wanted to get a new smaller kayak for the smaller river tributaries and I wanted a “set on top” kayak to play in the surf, this is both.

Eight feet long, lightweight, self draining (self filling as it turned out) on sale at Sports Authority. It wallows like a drunken fat man and don’t track worth a damn but it fits inside the Element and keeps me on top of the water or at least level with it.

The launching point at Indian Head Drive is a quick downstream access the upper North River with its marshes filled with waterfowl. Up stream however, the river is shallow, stony and at this time blocked by fallen trees.

I got past the trees above and below the water, and found some more fishermen.

There is a dam above this point that raises the water level for small lake at Luddams Ford Park.

Water today was warm for the season, too early for the black flies. Altogether a very pleasant day.
