A reader sent me a link to a Townhall post…
Might the Canadians revolt? Really revolt, not merely torment sissy city twits by honking through the night? The recipe for that is eliminating all peaceful means of dissent plus doubling down on the oppression. Trudeau already considered using the Canadian Emergencies Act to override civil liberties because of COVID – do you think he would hesitate to do it because of a threat to ruling class power? His alleged father Pierre – who qualifies as a staffer at The Bulwark – used the predecessor War Measures Act when Frenchie guerillas revolted in 1970.
So, let’s play this particular worst-case scenario out. Say Canada goes to hell, and what does Grandpa Badfinger (That’s President Biden) do? Does he just let his fellow globalist go down? Even that senile old pervert knows that’s a bad precedent. Hey, right now Crusty and his pals are willing to send your kids to fight for the ruling class’s prerogatives in a frigid place across the globe. Do you think he would be able to resist the entreaties of his fellow travelers if normal people looked like they were about to seize power next door?
Is this scenario, which is measurably less insane than most of the things going down in the last few years, unimaginable?
I’d think that would be highly unlikely. If I remember my history correctly, there’s a 19th century treaty between Great Britain and the USA that would legally prohibit our military forces crossing the border. Plus I think even the Giant Tree Sloths A.K.A. The GOP in Congress would take action to condemn it and enough Democrats ( the ones that aren’t nuts) would join in to stop it in it’s half-tracks.
Plus Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Miley-Vanilla would have to phone Chairman Xi in Beijing for approval. He’d probably veto it for fear that something he owns might get damaged.
But the last paragraph does make a point, “…is this scenario, which is measurably less insane than most of the things going down in the last few years, unimaginable?
No, no it isn’t.
