- "America is at that awkward stage. It's too late to work within the system, but too early to shoot the bastards. On the road to tyranny, we've gone so far that polite political action is about as useless as a miniskirt in a convent." - Claire Wolfe, _101 Things To Do 'Til The Revolution_
Heinlein
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man.
Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded -- here and there, now and then -- are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck." -- Robert A. There is none (winter kayaking that is) this year… Last Summer: Today: After two years, we finally have a winter month… The 2013 Kayak Season will begin one month and two days from now…IT WILL!
Sanity break, on the river.

Warm fall day on the North River, perfect!
Leaving the insanity on land, Unsuccessful getting an image of Herons, Ducks, or Hawks… Moths I could manage. Drifting, abandoned sunfish (a type of sailboat)… Ordinary and boring shot, but if I don’t flip the photos orientation 90 degrees to … Continue reading
The Wrong Boat Adventure.
Well, that’s embarrassing. I think I’ve mentioned I have more than one kayak, the yellow one (Pungo 120) is a single seater with some internal storage and is considered a general purpose kayak. It doesn’t do well on the ocean … Continue reading

So Doug, when can I show you the charming sights of the North River? Wow, on a Tuesday yet! Busy, busy, very busy. I like the folks who approach the river in a lazy way, no sweat mate! Notice the … Continue reading

New Weymouth Landing Launch Ramp Opened July 11th, Updated with low tide images & downstream trip
Our state government can keep secrets better than the Obama White House. My mother came back from a cribbage game with the ladies to inform me that a new ramp and parking area had opened next to the T parking … Continue reading

The Spit this year.
With the Fourth of July on a Wednesday this year there are two holiday weekends. On the 7th is the second fourth WE. Overcast, but that makes it perfect for games of catch. Guess what shot I put in for … Continue reading

Back and Fore on the fifth.
Took a little trip starting at Abigail Adams Park on the shore of the Back River. Lots of parking, go to the south end where the ramp to the yacht club is located. First point of interest is the Dog … Continue reading

Beat the heat.
The day was this nice. The right arm seems to be back to near full function, though I doubt I’ll be in good enough shape to try the NSRWA river race this year. Tomorrow the weather forecast is warning of … Continue reading
Paddling inbetween the thunderstorms.
Anyone notice that I haven’t had any photos from my kayaking excursions lately? An aggregation of the pinched nerve in the neck left my right arm very weak…how weak? If I went paddling, I could only go in circles.
